Yeah, you might. But Nintendo is becoming less and less popular with kids. That's what the OP was saying. Other than owning a Gameboy and occasionally playing Pokemon, I never touched Nintendo when I was younger so I get what the OP is saying.Karutomaru said:I don't understand what you're talking about. The Wii and DS are both great systems and I play them every day.
Nintendo will be around for a very long time, in fact, it has already been around for a very long time, it was founded before 1900, it has been in existence for longer then sony and microsoft combined. Even if they do end up getting knocked out of the console making business, they will move on and still be around.Grey Day for Elcia said:I don't think you read or comprehended the post, if this is the case. I state, in no uncertain way, several times that I believe Nintendo is headed for obscurity. I also, again in no uncertain terms, say Nintendo is offering very little in the way of solid games and has ridden its core IP collection into the ground. I even close by saying, "I don't think Nintendo has enough of a face or name to be relevant to the new generations of gamers," adding earlier that I believe things look bad for Nintendo.distortedreality said:An opinion is inferred, but not necessarily the opinion you just stated.Grey Day for Elcia said:Considering I used words like good, bad, stupid looking and I don't think, opinion is inferred. See, subjective words mean subjective opinion.distortedreality said:Call me crazy, but I couldn't find that being stated or even inferred in the OP...Grey Day for Elcia said:Or, it's an opinion formed through years of watching, in my opinion, Nintendo become less and less relevant to the core gaming demographic.
Either way, I don't actually see that as a problem, as the "core gaming demographic" has changed dramatically over the past 10 years (or even stretch it out to the time frame you're talking about).
The more you know!
FYI - might be worth making your opinion clearer so people actually get what you're trying to say. All i'm getting from it is "Nintendo aren't the same company as they used to be" - and i'm sure there must be more to your post than that.

Eh... I'm just curious about this.Grey Day for Elcia said:Yeah. It is. That's kind of, like, the whole point. I shared my thoughts and asked what you guys think. Sorry, were you expecting something else? Lol.Indecipherable said:basically [sic] it's just your unresearched, non-cited[sic] opinion.
The NES came out after the crash. They weren't even in the home console market in the US during the crash.Jitters Caffeine said:They survived the first big industry crash, and it only made them stronger.
They spelled words wrong and misused grammar. I used sic as I was quoting them, but not making the mistakes myself.No_Remainders said:Eh... I'm just curious about this.Grey Day for Elcia said:Yeah. Do you know what "sic" means? Just wondering, because you're doing it wrong.
Regardless, while I've never held any love for Nintendo outside of the Pokemon games, I don't think they're quite done yet. They're still one of the biggest companies when it comes to gaming, and I think they'll keep churning out old and familiar things until people realise that innovation isn't really a bad thing and finally turn against Nintendo for not making anything really interesting for several years.
My thoughts....Grey Day for Elcia said:What's your thoughts?
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...hahaha...Grey Day for Elcia said:The handheld market, although still partially dominated by the NDS, didn't offer much else to fans, with a mirrored fate to that of its big brother, the Wii; no games came out and soon everyone forgot they owned the little buggers.
You know Angry Birds for iOS is the highest selling game ever, yeah? The app market sells a metric fuck ton more games than the DS or the 3DS even comes close to.SmarterThanYou said:BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...hahaha...Grey Day for Elcia said:The handheld market, although still partially dominated by the NDS, didn't offer much else to fans, with a mirrored fate to that of its big brother, the Wii; no games came out and soon everyone forgot they owned the little buggers.
Seriously, that was a good one.
Oh, definetly. Thing is though, they were:Jitters Caffeine said:Yup, I think they'll do just fine. They survived the first big industry crash, and it only made them stronger.
o.o .... i'm confused, .... sell? Angry Birds is free dood.Grey Day for Elcia said:You know Angry Birds for iOS is the highest selling game ever, yeah? so until some one actually throws out how much they are really making off the game it self, I'm not inclined to humor any game that if free to play with out sales figures to back it up
- See [link]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angry_Birds[/link] for sources."Angry Birds became the top-selling paid application on Apple's UK App Store in February 2010, and reached the top spot on the US App Store a few weeks later, where it remained until October 2010. Since release, the free, limited version of Angry Birds has been downloaded more than 11 million times for Apple's iOS, and the full-featured paid version has been downloaded nearly 7 million times as of September 2010. The Android version of the game was downloaded more than 1 million times within the first 24 hours of release, even though the site crashed at one point due to the load, and over 2 million downloads in its first weekend. Rovio receives approximately US$1 million per month in revenue from the advertising that appears in the free Android version."
- See [link]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angry_Birds[/link] for sources."By May 2012, the game had reached 1 billion downloads, including Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons, Angry Birds Rio and Angry Birds Space. On Christmas Day 2011 alone, 6.5 million copies of the various Angry Birds games were downloaded across all supported platforms."
Yes this is the point I made earlier. Both MS and Sony have lost a shit ton of money due to their gaming divisions. The 360 only finally became profitable for MS last year,5 years after launch.Sony's gaming division recorded a loss of $2.8 billion last year(over 5 times Nintendo's losses)which accounted for almost half of Sony's overall losses($5.7 billion in total)forcing Sony to axe 10,000 jobs worldwideLunar Templar said:and make no mistake, both Sony and Microsoft have been losing money on they consoles. a LOT of money.
in short, you should be more worried about your PS3 or 360 not being around much longer, not Nintendo
Yup, tell that to the hundreds of talented people being laid off within the industry because sales didn't meet expectations.Karutomaru said:Yeah, sales mean nothing. Gaming isn't about the money.
Annual loses aren't necessary for a failing company. They've suffered many quarterly losses before, which are enough to kill a company.Zhukov said:Actually, last I checked they're still doing okay.
They recently reported their first annual loss. Ever.
I personally have absolutely zero interest in their products, but calls of their demise are drastically premature.
So you don't care about people losing their jobs and companies going bankrupt just so you can play a game? That's pretty fucking harsh.Karutomaru said:As long as the final product is of high quality, it doesn't matter who gets laid off.
I really can't be bothered explaining to you yet again why this doesn't make any sense.Karutomaru said:A good game company never cares about the money.
