The Wii isnt working because of heavy emphasis on companies using the Wii mote for silly purposes and not focusing on making good games, I know Nintendo have been saying they wanted to Aim the console to "Everyone" but you could say the same about toilet paper

Plus I have yet to see any quirky games that made Nintendo non fanboys dance in glee.

I agree. After Zelda and Smash Brothers it's just been a never-ending flow of casual stuff with a few "hardcore" gems. I like the idea of more people playing games, but it seems like Nintendo doesn't care about the Nintendo faithful anymore, just the money they can get from everyone else.
Add Metroid Prime 3 to the list of good ones and I agree.

Weekly Wii hate thread number 764

I know in this day and age 'Hardcore' means 'shooter' and 'mature' means 'blood' but seriously - just shut the fuck up.

Go to Metacritic and you'll see more than 30 games that score 80 or higher.

House of the Dead: Overkill and Madworld are just around the corner to satisfy your need for 'hardcore' 'mature' titles.

But for gods sake if your taste in games is so narrow then why fork out for a machine that never professed to cater for that market?

The problem is you bought the wrong machine - if you're stupid enough to buy into hype then why would anyone care about your whining?
Actually, I think "mature" and "hardcore" really mean "not Samba De Amigo."
Part of me is glad that you helped validate my point, part of me wishes that game does not exist

There is a GTA game for the Wii in March.
You made me cry tears of joy. Thank you, messenger of god. Wait, Could you offer some outside word of this? I know of the DS one, but... really. Messing with me like this is cruel.

I've got VC games and gamecube games for my Wii. The wii is my first non-pc console, so I got it for it's backward compatiblity after a friend introduced me to some N64 ROMs, so I'm keen to collect everything I can on VC, uncluding the games I played for free. (Can't wait to get a hold of one of those Zelda 64 > GC compilation disks. Made of awesome.) Metroid Prime series? Can't wait till I finish it. Another Wii Zelda will be fantastic. Madworld? Droolin' over it. Punch out? Excellent, a boxing game that isn't imbedded in Wii Sports. (stupid thing caps at 2000 score and starts to give negative once you reach 2000...) Next 2000 points (+300) will be spent on a N64 game ( possibly StarFox Lylat Wars, Super Metroid and Super Mario 3, which I still need to play. (more Off topic, if anyone would care to suggest a good N64 game that isn't Lylat Wars, (or Oot, which I plan to get on GC so I can get something useful out of the stone of agony along with the unconfirmed MM).

"Hardcore" and "casual" is stupid terminology.

How about we stick with "games I like" and "games I don't like"?

I'm quite sure that you wouldn't be any happier if they made a bunch of "hardcore" games that you still didn't like.

No I did not buy the wrong machine, I bought it because I liked Nintendo, I do not look at review scores as the reviewers do not know my likes or dislikes, just a belief in what the generic gamer would like. My taste's are only narrowed because Nintenodo keeps trying to shove gimmicky shit down my throat, hardcore could not mean necessarily mature, just a more indepth expeirce which many games on the nintendo wii lack.
Which games exactly did you think Nintendo would make that they did not make?

42 to be exact. http://www.metacritic.com/games/wii/scores/

Although its half of what the PS3 has (87) http://www.metacritic.com/games/ps3/scores/ and a third of what the 360 has (130) http://www.metacritic.com/games/xbox360/scores/

I've never been a major Nintendo fan but I had a feeling when I heard about the motion capture way of playing that it was quite gimmicky, and the games would be as a result.
You can't blame Nintendo for going for the more lucrative (due to the wider audience) casual gamers market. Games will never appeal to everyone, so casual games were never going to appeal to the more seasoned gamers. I know I couldn't play them.
Due to this, I'll stick to my PS3.

That's the problem with the wii, it's too. well... cheap. Not price wise (although it is relatively) It's full of developers that just seem intent on phoning it in. with only first party games being released with any consistency.
I traded mine in along with all my games and accessories for a 360.
And yet, Nintendo doesn't get thousands of complain letters about their product breaking down.
As a matter of fact, I've never heard of it breaking down.
Not sure where I'm going with this. It's not like I've used mine in ages.
Yes, what is your point?
I don't recall saying anything about my wii breaking down or my 360 for that matter, so what you're essentially doing is adding fuel to a flamewar.
I don't think i've had a single piece of gaming hardware give up on me (touch wood).

If you buy great third party games such as No More Heroes, Fire Emblem, Ghost Squad, the releases coming this February and March, as well as other games listed in this thread (and others on this forum; I've made a few large Wii game posts myself in other complaint threads since I own about twenty of them), then that will support the community of game makers into making more of those great games. If you don't and instead sit about saying how no such games exist with others, then your wish will be granted: no such games will exist.
Just pointing out, Fire Emblem is developed by the second-party dev Intelligent Systems. That's why Marth, Roy and Ike are in Smash Bros.

On-Topic, there are plenty of quality games for the Wii, the problem is that most of them are first- or second-party games, which everyone is apparently sick of (I'm not, but that's beside the point). There's not that many good third-party games available on the Wii, at least not compared to the PS360's massive library. Then again, Nintendo hasn't had decent third-party support for their home consoles since Rare left.

Those who say it has no lasting appeal either have wildly different tastes than I or just haven't looked at the Wii's library, because I can say with confidence that I've got enough awesome games to keep me occupied for the next several months at least. Throw in those games I haven't gotten yet (No More Heroes, Metroid Prime 3, Animal Crossing) and those games coming out in the future (MadWorld, The Conduit, Kirby, Deadly Creatures, to name a few) and I'm set for this coming year.

Well, I agree I am disappointed with the wii's games. They are not aimed at everyone, they are aimed at Hannah Montana fangirls. There are a few games, such as Fire Emblem, that I really enjoy. I don't even mind that there aren't "hardcore" games for the wii, I just wish there were good games for the wii.

Or that said hardcore games had a worldwide release. I've never seen Fire Emblem for sale in Australia.
Really? I've got both FE9 and FE10, which I found in a Dick Smith's and an EB Games respectively.
EDIT: Unless you refer to the GBA FE games, which I have likewise never seen. Not that I've been looking terribly hard, admittedly.

No, but you did say it was cheap. I guess I was pointing out that despite the relatively cheap hardware, it still doesn't fall apart when you sneeze at it.
Or something.
I'm exhausted.
I don't think the wii has cheap hardware. Granted, the tech behind it is dated, but shoddy it isn't. Just that the majority of devs for nintendo's system feel the need to cash in on the casual fad, foregoing the need for better games on the market.
That said, 2009 looks pretty good for the wii.

I believe that people who are hardcore gamers should get a 360 or PS3 and casual gamers should get a Wii. There really is no reason for Nintendo to change because in the end, [most] game companies don't care about us, they care about their revenue. Just get a different system and get the idea of Nintendo out of your mind (unless you want play their previous systems).
