I'm gonna wait for the imrpoved version of it(because we all know there's going to be one). Still, not that bad.

Nintendo also revealed that the 3DS's battery will last 3-5 hours when playing 3DS games,

Well, I guess it's not so bad. If those are the launch titles, I see no reason to get one right away anyway. Might as well wait a year or two for the 3DSi Lite or whatever and hope they get better batteries and more efficient chipsets that use less power. The only games that interest me in that list are Puzzle Bobble 3D (where did that come from though? first I've heard of it) and Professor Layton, but I can live without playing those at launch.

Gah, it just occurred to me, a major possible issue... What happens when (as it inevitably will) the touch screen gets all rubbed up and you can see marks on it? How will that affect the 3D? Did they deal with that at all? Am I the first to think of this? Because, correct me if I'm wrong, but how many of you DS owners look at your screen and can see slide marks from rubbing the screen? I use mine regularly and with great vigor, and I suspect I'd do the same with the new model, but will it be OK?
The touch screen isn't 3D, only the top screen is. Problem solved. ;)

I'm slightly on the fence about getting a 3DS due to some of the specs and the fact that my DS Lite is constantlt by my side of longer than 3 - 5 hours, but, if I charge it every day it might help, if I remember. Waiting for certain games is definitely annoying but the Street Fighter and the Layton are still keeping me extremely interested.

Interesting, the price still has me on the fence though. Plus, not very many release games I want.

Bad battery life, inexcusably bad launch titles, and a price point that's more expensive than 2 of the 3 current gen consoles. At least they aren't trying to coast by remaking old games and slapping a shitty gimmick on them to justify charging an arm and a leg . . . . oh wait that's EXACTLY what they are doing.

Terrible battery life on a handheld? Instant dealbreaker.
Agreed. That said, it currently isn't confirmed whether or not the 3-5 hour estimate is for the highest brightness setting. If that turns out to be the case, it would be in line with their promised DSi level battery life. If, however, it is for the lowest, then that is quite pathetic and goes against the principles Nintendo handhels have had for years. If it's the latter, I will get a PSP instead and wait for a proper redesign. But as I said, I can't really pass judgement until I know for certain...

As for those of you complaining about the prices of games, keep in mind that these are Japanese prices. In Japan, games are a very expensive commodity and prices tend to be much higher compared to other regions, particularly the US (although I think Australia has it worse). In other words, the prices are definitely going to be lower in other markets.

People, people... Japan typically has higher prices for games. Just because the dollar equivalent is high doesn't necessarily mean that's how much games and systems will sell for in other countries. At least hold out for the worldwide announcements before making judgments.

Yeah Australia has it worse but most of Europe gets fucked over with the price as well. For europe they just remove the dollar sign and stick the euro in front of it(very funny since 1 euro = 1,20 to 1,30 dollar.

Your 150 dollar Kinect (to what everyone complains about the price) europe sells for 150 euro (about $180/190).

3D without the glasses? Instant dealsellotape!

And shame about the battery, but I'm not suprised with the amount of processing it would take.

Shittiest launch lineup in human history
May not be the shittiest, but its still pretty damn weak. None of those games sound remotely worth the investment price, specially since a few of them are just re-releases (including Samurai Warriors, you've played one generic 1 vs 1000 button-masher, you've played them all).

And the only good game on that list is Professor Layton.
Yeah but isn't professor Layton going to come out for normal ds before the 3ds launches? I'm not sure, but I think so.

It does suck but I'm sure there are plenty of accessories and cases and stuff available for either extending the life, recharging it while on the go, or both.

Plus if you are willing to play not on full brightness, you can get a shitload more life out of it.

Just so we are clear, I am from Europe as well and I am very much aware of the horrendous prices we have. Trust me, the 1:1 conversion rate that publishers tend to use has been a constant frustration of mine. -_-

That said, in terms of actual game prices, I don't think we have it quite as bad as the Japanese and Australians (although still bad). However, we do often get very screwed over in terms of hardware prices. For this reason, I dread the price announcement for the 3DS on the 19th. IF we are lucky, they will set the price at 229 Euros. Unfortunately, it seems far more likely that they will hit us with a price point of 250 Euros (roughly $325), thus making us pay more for the handheld than any other region. -_-
