There is a similar thread like this somewhere on the interwebs but that one was far too messy and i'd rather not get into the details.

I'm not here to discuss whether Dubstep is good or not (for me, it clearly isn't) but i get the feeling its kind of trying to trap me by featuring in everything i do (like TV, hanging with my friends and maybe even Anime) and one by one, these outlets of my life are falling to Dubstep (im not sure if thats the right word)

Point is, id like to keep dubstep out of atleast one of these things (preferably anime and gaming. I know there is no dubstep in anime yet but you never know)

How i see dubstep: Dubstep is some creepy sex offender from across the street who keeps eyeing me up and he has already seduced many of my friends and when im alone and enjoying a hobby peacefully, its attempting to do the unthinkable and if i report what its doing to me to my mates, they'll just dismiss it and tell me to lighten up and enjoy it.

Where i am getting the idea that Dubstep is invading gaming: SSX and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (I was really looking forward to both these games) aswell as other titles not worth mentioning

Its a long description so ill just cut to the chase. Keep Dubstep out of gaming. Idc if people enjoy it. Just enjoy it elsewhere.

Thing is in many games, i play to discover new music like with Burnout 3 and SSX 3 (Those were amazing soundtracks) so if i were to find dubstep everywhere i go, it would be too much for me (im not sure what i would do)

Also, maybe if you're so desperate to keep dubstep in gaming, just put it in games like COD or Uncharted or whatever. It would be enough for me if dubstep was ruled out of fighting games alone (my specialist genre)

Given that this 'dubstep' thing is being referred to as some kind of world consuming evil, I feel a bit silly about having to go look it up.

...

Okay, I'm back.

I wouldn't worry too much. It doesn't sound like anything that would appear in a game with the slightest vestige of class.

Sorry, had to be linked.

Haven't seen any dubstep in any games so far, except for SR3. Was nice.

Keep people who don't enjoy certain games away.
Problem solved.

Heavens, no !
This is what CERTAIN PEOPLE (including myself) listen to. Dubstep, Grime, Aggro & stuff aren't mainstream, never were, never will be. It's just one of countless genres that emerge, become somewhat famous and then dissolve into nothingness. :)

Oh, and some example...

Dubstep is a popular trend, it's going to be in things. Deal with it. For each person who doesn't enjoy dubstep being there, there are many more who enjoy it or just don't give a shit. We can't just take it out of games for your benefit. What are we going to replace it with? Death Metal? Pop? Whatever you choose, someone isn't going to be happy about it. If it bothers you that much, mute the in-game music and play your own.

Addendum:

Well, maybe try playing games to enjoy the games, and if you want to discover new music go to last.fm or Pandora, no?

Indeed.
I'd also like to add the following to the list:

Classical music (i.e. Beethoven, Baach etc.)
80's electro pop
Anything that has ever been on the billboard top 100
Punk, Post Punk, Punk Rock
Rock, Hard Rock
Rap, Gangsta Rap, R&B
Heavy Metal, Black Metal, Death Metal and Trash Metal
Pop music

I don't care if people enjoy it, I demand that it be kept out of my games.
They can always enjoy it somewhere else.

Also, I'd like to ban anime from all TV stations and most torrent sites.
I don't care if people enjoy it, they can always enjoy it somewhere else, no?

if you don,t like in-game music just turn it off and run a music player in the background.

i really don't understand this internet crusade agains't dubstep...... you may not enjoy it but many people still enjoy rythmic music, i personally prefer mostly instrumental music than stuff with lyrics which is why enjoy dubstep.
Instead of hating on dubstep we of the internet should unite in our righteous hatred of justin bieber!!!

Example of dubstep, pretty much the only dubstep song i like;

Listening to it by itself, most dubstep kinda sucks IMO, but i imagine that song, in a game like WipeoutHD and it would be great!
I love that song. For me, dubstep can be a bit hit and miss but I still generally like the genre.

Well, dubstep is only getting popular. It's bloody catchy in most places and great for action orientated scenes.

I think the dubstep played an excellent part in Saints Row the third for example.

If the mood calls for it, the games music will provide the atmosphere. If this atmosphere requires dubstep, so be it.

Then I reccomend you NEVER see good SC and DotA players stream... stay away from team Liquid, Na'Vi, Fnatic or anything that has a 150+ effective CPM.

This.
Here's a good example of a movie trailer that works well with dubstep (the movie doesn't have dubstep in it, just the trailer).

Nuff said. That song alone makes Syndicate look like the most bad ass FPS ever, even if it's not. It just fits the mood and tone of the game perfectly.

So yeah, as others say: if it fits the game, it's ok.

Yes, Dubstep is a very confusing genre. And it's popularity starting around August to September time is even more confusing however not everyone enjoys listening to it.

It would be a good genre of music if a majority of dubstep wasn't done WRONG. Frankly, people think throwing some wubwubs every few seconds followed by a drop whilst fizzing in the background is good as the same tune plays over and over. Also mixing in lyrics just makes it sound worse.

This user here has posted a good example of what I mean. I know you like it my friend but the first 5 seconds was enough to force me into stopping the video.

Now Dubstep can actually sound tasteful when done right. E.G. mixing it with another genre such as techno.

Now here's what I call a well done example of Dubstep. Not only does it not try and make your ears bleed out of annoyance but has a nice beat to it.

Also Rap? It's really boring most of the time so that's why it's disliked.

That is so damn awesome! I also agree, SR3 is the only game I can think of which has dubstep and the dubstep in it isn't that great.
