Wasen't Poseidon angry at Odyseus because he blinded his son? Seems like he is just as vengeful as Hades. And it may have something to do with the fact that he kidnapped Persphone and tricked her into spending the winter months in Tartarus.

I always saw Hades as a sad figure. The oldest of the brothers, he should have been the one to rule over all. But he lost out on a game of chance and now lives in Tartarus with nothing, but the dead to keep him company.

Hades is also a rich mofo. He has the earth therefore also has all the gold, silver, gems and so on.

And how can you rule hell and not be a little evil?
It's not Hell for starters, it's the Underworld

Bit of a difference.
Not only that, but it's where ALL souls go, good or bad, and the good ones get the chance to live again, while the bad ones are given eternal torment. That's Heaven and Hell all in one.

Geeze, what's with the Christianity hate? Why would you think that's the only reason people think Hades is evil. He's the god of the underworld, so the natural assumption is that he's evil.

I remember reading that Hades was the god of wealth(all that gold and shit underground) and was considered to be a "terrible" god. Not evil but terrible.

Oh, and I've always been on Hades' side since I was little. Remember that Disney Hercules movie(should be Herakles, by the way)? I was rooting for Hades the whole time, and hated the ending.
The underworld was a totally fine place to go to, though. Nobody wanted to go there because it meant death for them, obviously. You really didn't want to go to the prison-ey part - Tartarus - but that was reserved for the old Titans and dicks. Hades himself was a fine god, and probably nicer than Zeus, although he did trick someone into being his wife and people were afraid to say his name out loud.

Christianity has most certainly influenced the way we perceive Greek mythology, but that's not to say Christianity is bad or anything. Our perception of any ancient mythology would be distorted over thousands of years anyway, regardless of religion.
