no there isn't actually of course there are a few people who think somethings should be done a certain way but when isn't there people like that
You're saying that most people in your scene don't dress somewhat alike? I mean, you identify yourself as being a part of a scene. That means you're conforming to their social norms, not general society's.
of course we do but that doesn't make us abnormal and no i dont conform to their social norms i like the music i like i dress the way i like and i go to the gigs i like a lot of people in the scene call me a poser and a fake cause of different music i like anyway getting off the subject here all i am saying is you cant just say someone is normal/abnormal just cause the majority of people say or act a way that is different to you
I added a bit of content to the post you quoted, before you replied:
If you didn't, you wouldn't have mentioned that you dress and act that way because of underground black metal.
I'm not saying you're abnormal. I'm saying you've got a standard of what is and isn't normal based on what most of you do. That's how normal works.

I mean NO offense at ALL to ANYONE who might or might not read this topic. Nor am I trying to brag or whatever.

Being a regular on here for a while I've noticed there are a lot of people who have disorders and manias and OCDs and whatnot. For example when I was browsing a 'What's your disorder' topic a while ago there were like 20 pages and there were no posts that had like a minor thing.

Is it really that 'bad' around here?

Are 'normal' people in the minority over here?

Again: no offense to ANYONE

EDIT:

As you should have been able to read: with normal I mean not having disorders and such..
This place is a collection of nerds, geeks, pseudo-intellectuals and grammar nazis.

Of course it seems irregular to the outsider.

That being said, people tend to get along well with each other once you pass that 1k posts mark.

Things like presentation, post count, and reputation count for much more here than other boards.

To each their own!

Edit: Due to the nature of most posters here, prepare for a large amount of flames and arguments over the definition of normal and other-such TEDIOUS hair-splitting.

I'm normal, the shiny pixies told me so! =D

But really, normality is like appearance, how normal someone is, or how attractive they are, is entirely based on the observer's opinion.

What if I told you insane was working fifty hours a week in some office for fifty years at the end of which they tell you to piss off; ending up in some retirement village hoping to die before suffering the indignity of trying to make it to the toilet on time? Wouldn?t you consider that to be insane? - Serial Killer from con air

which proves the point normal is opinion

I'd say I'm relatively normal except I get angry/jealous easier than I should due to the fact that I'm bi-polar (or whatever it's called now).

But I function relatively well...

Normal is opinion? I think you mean sanity. Normal is the prevailing traits within of a group.

It's not an opinion - what normal is can be fact. But, remember, just because something's common doesn't mean it's right. Fifty million smokers can be wrong.

I'd say I'm normal in so much as I don't have any disorders or anything, only have to wear glasses for driving/reading at long distance, though I am described by my friends as quite crazy.

It seems to me that you have some basic misunderstandings of the human race. Let me help you.

You see, it is "normal" for people to have some sort of defects such as the ones you mentioned. Everyone has something or other "wrong" with them. I put the word "wrong" in quotations because it is not necessarily bad to have a defect with your character. It is completely natural.

I don't know what your definition of a "normal" person is, but it seems that you define a normal person as "perfect." And there is no such thing as a perfect person.

So in fact, the true case is the opposite of what you claim. It is normal to have something wrong with you, so the majority of people here are normal.

Look! There are sixteen pennies on your desk. Four is the square root of sixteen. Something is going to go horribly wrong!

I don't mean to make light of your condition, or hurt your your feelings, but you have to admit that it's pretty bizarre.
And OCD isn't necessarily that extreme. It can be extremely varied. I have a bit of OCD, it can be as simple as seeing my computer moniter slightly crooked and being really bothered by it until I fix it. A lot of people have some degree of OCD, and it is perfectly normal.

I have no physical or psychological disorders but that doesn't mean that I hold mediocrity (by which I mean the property of being unremarkable, hovering close to the Median of performance and with the most commonly recurring personality traits, whether genuine or staged)in high esteem so I do not try to be 'normal'.
Then again, I suspect that not many people really do, no matter what they have been lead to believe, otherwise 'normal' people would not obsess over celebrities and 'freak shows' the way that they do, as they always have and likely will always do.

Erm... I don't have any significant disorders or conditions, as far as I know. Unless being flat-footed makes me a mutant freak. Oh noes, my right foot can act like a weak suction cup!

Everyone suffers from what I've decided to call "snowflake sheep syndrome" (everybody thinks themselves to be unique and different but the problem is thats now become the norm and people are all like sheep),

Where everyone needs to be unique and have something to define them themselves in today's fast passed and identity blending world. For some people this will be a disease or condition which they may genuinely have but which they will still capitalise on as their "selling point", everyone does it and everyone thinks no one else does it.

For one thing, smarter people tend to have some quirk with them. Also, the internet generally attracts geeky people like ourselves. That's probably why "normal" people are in the minority. And of course, normal people are boring.

No normality? I think you've mixed up your ideas mate. On this forum it's normal to behave and talk the way we do. Problem solved.

Yeah but it just seems so weird that probably like 75% of people here have some sort of (serious ish) disorder, whereas I know only like 3 people with a disorder irl..

I'm aware of that. I'm just saying it can be pretty strange.
