I haven't watched the video but I'd say Preacher and Transmetropolitan (unless Sandman counts in which case that as well). I haven't read enough of Fables to consider it yet, I think it has 17 volumes and I've only read 3. If the Walking Dead comic felt like the writer actually had plans and didn't seem to make stuff up as he went along then maybe I'd include that as well. I think I'm the one of the only people who actually think the show is better (except for the season 3 ending which was way to anti-climactic)

I have been loosely following Fables whenever i get the opportunity. I find it very entertaining and interesting. Its very imaginative and does a good job of revisioning all these characters and their interactions. Sadly i only get to see an issue occasionally here and there. Someday i hope to go through it all at once.

I also like very much how they aren't afraid to mix up what we consider the villain/hero to be compared to how the source material portrays them.

You're all wrong. Harrumph.

on a side note: I really need to get the last 3 paperback volumes. The Big Ride is so good and I've been left hanging. Stupid crappy job. :(
So you haven't read the end yet? I'm just wondering cause I do like "The Boy's" but the last volume kinda screws everything up for no good reason.

SAGA. If you liked Y the Last Man, Ex Machina or Runaways, this will blow you away. Brian K. Vaughan at his best. Preacher is also a modern classic that's worth mentioning :)
What if I didn't care for Y the Last Man, but I am keen on Saga. Gotta any recommendations for me?

(PS Didn't like Preacher either.)
Hmmm. I's say give Saga a chance if you're looking for a mature and somewhat quirky sci-fi epic. I would like to recommend you more stuff, but it would be easier if you tell me what comics you like. I usually recommend Rising Stars and Midnight Nation to everyone, so try giving those a shot.

No I haven't. I was collecting the trade paperbacks but then i went back to uni and got a newer part-time job earning about half what i used to earn. Comic books are always the first thing to go out the window in terms of essentials. :(

In descending order of awesomeness:
Sandman
Preacher
Transmetropolitan
The Boys
Lucifer
Hitman

Out of those only "The Boys" and "Hitman" are touching on the usual superhero crap (which I've grown pretty much indifferent to as I got older)

Haven't read any comics in several years, but I was a hardcore follower of Fables when it started. Great stuff, and some really compelling stories. I've tried to keep a pretty close eye on Bill Willingham ever since I read The Elementals (Comico, 1984-1996). It had its issues (no pun intended) but it was a pretty fun read.

I also have to agree with the people who've brought up Transmetropolitan and the IDW Transformers titles. Both superb imo.

And The Boys was just in a class by itself to me.

Dammit, I was gonna say Atomic Robo. But seriously, how can you get more awesome than a robot made by Nicola Tesla who fights evil, and Nazis, and time-travelling dinosaurs?
