I don't think much would change. although my girlfriend and I would probably fall out with each other, seeing as how 'romance' and horizontal dancing are connected in my head. But nothing else would visibly change. Maybe my mind would have enough time to solve world hunger or something.

Man, i want to be able to just turn my sex drive off, so so badly. It would be great. I'm not getting any anyway, and it would free up so much time. I repeat it would be awesome, and i would like nothing more than to be able to do that. But it's not possible unfortunately. Sigh.

Anyway, i have had sex only once, and that was over a year ago. The lack of sex doesn't bother me much, but the sex drive is an annoyance.

I didn't read the thread, I just wanted to say there will be plenty of time to not have sex for a year when you turn 30. People stop trying to get at you when all your friends and socialites are more focused on career and family then having a good time and party, party, party.

Use a rubber. I didn't. I got herpes at 23. But of course, I've slept with like 300 people. So I got off light. But then again... Well, I'm not completely used to sex yet, I don't know if it would really affect me too much.

I think it might've been a bit more boring to be a human though. You'd probably loose a lot of the excitement of cuddling with someone and a lot of good feelings coming from the company of someone you're in a relationship with.

Sex is the drive for everything we do. Learning skills, gathering resources, becoming educated, everything is for a little hammer time.

Turn it off and there's no point in doing anything at all.

That's not to say you consciously pursue everything for sex, it's the DRIVER. Why do you have a car? because you have to work, why do you work? because you need to eat. The need to eat is the driver for having a car, but you're not constantly thinking about pop-tarts every time you're in your car. Well maybe you are, pop tarts are delicious.

Sure, older folks already have the kids (or biologically think they do) and are driven more to support that posterity than to produce it. But they're still driven by the desire to have posterity.

Everyone who says they'd turn it off, or have turned it off...I would not want to be you. If your life was a TV advertisement there'd be a subtitle reading "experience not typical." I absolutely would have more money and more time to devote to lonely pursuits without sex.

I am in a long-term relationship; That like most relationships, has some foundation in the sexual aspects. But I am confident I could go a year without sex. Just as likely, I could go the rest of my life without it. Aside from an effort on the part of procreation (which isn't a current plan for us) sex is simply an act performed by one or more people (I include masturbation as sex, as many people are asexual or are not in a position to have sex with other people) for enjoyment. There are many things I find enjoyable, many even more so than sex. Anything from a good meal and a night out, to beating a boss in a video game that I have had trouble with. Is it weird to rate those on the same scale? I don't think so. I mean, medically, I would likely exhibit the same amount of hormones to induce enjoyment out of a lot of situations comparatively to sex and I don't think I would falter without it. I would, perhaps, miss the bonding time with my partner; but there are several other ways to bond that don't involve a shower afterwards.

Also, without it I could stop caring about old flames. I usually get over any sort of emotional attachment, but I find myself still dwelling on it because I miss the physical aspect. Physical attraction is a powerful force.
