Have you ever said something to non gamer friends that they didn't understand, due to them not being gamers?
For me, it would be saying BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD at every opportunity.
That, and "it's Bonk o' clock bitches!"

Too many times to count, usually on a general-interest forum that I frequent and is primarily occupied by over-thirty college-educated folks who decidedly aren't gamers.

I never refer to Washington by its name, always calling it "Capital Wasteland" and more than once I've been asked "why do you think Washington's such a wasteland?" When I say "It's the post-apocalyptic Washington in Fallout 3", they're like "I haven't seen that movie."

Yeah, my friends never got that cake joke. Or any gaming jokes, for that matter. I only have a handful of friends who game.

I've made Legend of Zelda jokes to my parents. I consider it my obligation whenever the word "link" comes up.

"Enough expository banter! Now we fight like men! And ladies! And ladies who dress like men! For Gilgamesh...it is morphing time!"

Yeah, you don't know how many times I've had to explain that one.

I have made many sandvich jokes.

"Sandvich and I going to kicky your ass!"

I have also quoted a medic from TF2 many times, and no one gets it

"Zat vas not medicine!"
"Zat vas doctor assisted homicide!"

I've said "stupid squall, bringing a sword to a gun fight" and my friend was confused as hell. Also, while at work, (I'm parttime as a cashier)I found myself saying "But knights do it two handed". Thank god the customer couldn't hear me.

I quote games quite a lot actually, but it's usually when my friend is around who plays games a lot as well. We did get a lot of people confused when Killzone 2 came out because we would quote it pretending to be super badasses or we would spend all day ranting how:
Rico got Garza killed, and then killed Visari, pretty much fucking everyone over

Or from Fable 1 when you would attack the guy who sings songs. "Stop that I implore you! Let me sing some verses for you!"

Another friend and I also shout stuff from the God of War games as well.

I don't think I usually use game related jokes among my friends. It's probably usually with my brothers or cousins. My friends would probably understand some of them anyway since a good bit of them are at least casual gamers (and family around my age play quite a bit when we're into it). I actually forget the last game related joke I gave. I throw out anime references more often, and even then not much (we all watch anime too, to some degree or another)

I was having a discussion concerning TES: Oblivion (dungeon crawling, ayleid ruins, light versus heavy armor, different spells, etc.) with my friend in German class. Then another friend who's never even played Pacman or Super Mario tells us we're the biggest nerds she's ever seen.
Then me and my friend start using internet slang and she just laughed and ruffled our hair.

I don't really reference games, I make more anime jokes more...just call me weird...last game joke I made was probably this..."Rage...Rage...RAGE!!!!!"
And I don't think that it counts as a game reference...but I dunno.
