There are also pepper and Stench balls (related to paint balls). The pepper balls are really better for small numbers, but the stench balls are... Well, they make walking up to a skunk and stuffing your nose up it's arse seem like a rose garden.BrynThomas said:I think they're a good idea when used on dangerous individuals.
However I also believe that that there use on organised protests is dangerous to our personal freedoms, as it creates news friendly oppression. Years ago, lethal force was the way of disbanding a determined protest. As shown in the French and Russian revolution (and even during the Vietnam war), a regime that was willing to use lethal force on their own citizents would eventually collapse. In the modern age we can water cannon, tear gas and soon heat ray crowds into submission without drastically damaging the governments image.
I think my favorite non-lethal weapon's got to be the sticky-shocker.
A different concept is the Sticky Shocker, developed by Titan, with DARPA's support. This wireless shocker can be launched by M203 or M79 rifles, as well as 37mm non lethal launcher. Sticky Shocker clings to a human target inflicting an electrical stun. Effective at up to 10 meters, the projectile contains a battery which excites several short high voltage pulses (50KV) per second.
