TF2 gets my vote... just the astonishing balance and expertise shown in the game makes it infinitely entertaining.

Portal followed closely by Team Fortress 2. I've never played Left 4 Dead and I don't even like their other games.

New to forums, and Portal's cake meme never seems to get old.
It got old a long time ago, Portal didn't do it from me and the cake being a damn lie isn't helping. Half-Life 2 and Team Fortress 2 are just delicious and they stay that way like a box of Red Vines or Branston Pickle.

Team Fortress 2. Blew my mind the moment I started playing, some of the most fun I've ever had playing a video game.

Having to pick which one of the very few games Valve has released is the best is like having to pick between spam and bacon. It's just so damn hard. I'd vote for all of them if I could, since every one of them are glorious masterpieces, but I voted for Team Fortress 2 because it's the one I keep coming back to (until recently, when it started crashing on bootup).

I'm gonna say TF2, never before have I been able to sit someone down and then them feel happy that their team pwned another team and they felt the like they contributed something.

Gah, I feel like such a fanboy. For me its a tie between HL1, HL2, Team Fortress and Portal. In order they defined old school FPS, defined new school FPS, defined team based shooters and DLC, and defined puzzle games. I really can't distinguish the best because it would be like saying which I like more, Prime Rib or Cheesecake. You just can't find a common standard to compare. L4D is a close second, and the rest of there games are merely spectacular.

TF2 for me. It was the game I had the most fun with. Although I haven't played Counterstrike or Day of Defeat.

I wouldn't even begin to give Valve credit for either DoD or CS as both were developed to pretty close to their final state for free by the modding community. Portal gets my vote. It isn't the best puzzle game I've ever played, but it's the one that left the most memorable impact.

Some of the best friendly AI ever seen in a game...
Seriously? o,O I found the friendly AI to be incredibly thick, as a matter of fact, the enemy AI was no better. Even the AI in R6V2 was better than HL2, by FAR.

Well Portal was the first Valve game I ever played. It was very fun to play through and it had just the right amount of scary randomness, but after a while I lost interest in the game as I couldnt' get anything new from it no matter how many times I played it. The meme stuck though (can't get it out of my head :D).

I kinda missed Half life when it first came out and nowadays, I really don't see what makes it so special (please don't kill me). As for Team fortress 2 and other shooty Valve games like it, they didn't seem that amusing to me. I played team fortress 2 that one free weekend and didn't want to buy the game. It just wasn't my thing.

So I'll have to go with Left 4 Dead, the game that I keep playing many times over, despite how many annoying teammates, sometimes utterly useless AI or losses I have to endure. It is different enough from the other FPS-games I've seen, you know, with fast paced zombie mayhem and all.

Team Fortress 2. It is the game that I keep going back to, and no matter how much I may nitpick about it, I can't hide the fact that I think it's the best multiplayer game I have ever played. It is simply fantastic and the support for it makes it even better.

Playing Half-Life 2 was definitely an event for me. Very engaging, very fun and I couldn't stop playing it until I made it to then end (even then I wanted to play through it again.

Huh, that's a tough one. Left 4 Dead is simply addictive and well-balanced. Half-Life 2 is wonderfully atmospheric and has one of the best stories in video games. Portal[/i[ is unique and tightly designed in terms of gameplay. I'm going to have to say...it's a draw. They are all excellent in their own way.

Half Life 2. It took everything I loved about Half Life 1, and added a gun that shoots objects at people's faces. How could this be wrong?

Left 4 Dead is my favorite and the one I've had the most fun with, but their best game in my little ol' opinion of mine is Portal.

Valve didn't make CS.
Umm yes they did.
It was a mod originally. VAlve just acquired it.
That's like saying Left 4 Dead isn't a VALVe game, because they accquired it.

VALVe hired the CS creators. Cliffe and Le became VALVe employees. Under VALVe CS and CSS continued to develop and evolve.

AND WHERE IS HALF-LIFE 1 ON THE POLL?
Yeah, but CS had a playable version before valve acquired it. L4D not so.
