Today at school when messing about with a friend my nose started to bleed... a lot. I had no tissues so I had blood dripping off of my hands and people telling me not to put my head back or it will come out my eyes... I eventually got to the nurses office where I sat for half an hour with my nose bleeding non-stop. Any longer and I would have had to go to hospital to have it checked. There was blood on my jacket and trousers. Although I didn't feel light headed nor was it sore, just annoying.

Although I did get to miss double chemistry:p

So Escapists, What was the worse nose bleed you've had?

How long was it and how did it happen?

I have chronic nose bleeds and I used to get them almost everyday and they'd all be the big "blood dripping everywhere" type of nose bleeds too.

So any one of those.

One tired morning I opened the refrigerator door and hit my nose. I ended up being late for work after several desperate attempts to stop it >>.

It was during the night while I slept, so I have no idea how long it lasted, let alone how it happened. All I knew was when I woke up, the pillow and sheets were covered in dried blood, as was my mouth and chin. I washed it off, and got new bedclothes. Then, a few days later, it happened again, except this time part of my face got stuck to the pillow.

I forgot when it happened but I remember it lasting for a good hour.

I remember endlessly bleeding in the shower and pulling out what I think was the broken vain.

I'm not sure. I just remember waking up in the morning with my pillow literally caked in blood. I was very confused and concerned I had eaten someone in my sleep. It's also the only one I've ever had that wasn't from hitting my nose on something.

I didnt realise you were a cannibal lol =D

OT This might not count but worst i had was after coming off my bike at a young age. I had a split just outside my nose which gushed blood down my face... Freaky when your young.

Not really had one but they say never tip your head back because it can go down your throat and damage your lungs etc and come out your eyes, Also the stomach doesn't react well to blood, if a decent amount of blood enters your stomach you will be sick.

Best thing to do is tip your head forward and pinch the end of your nose.

this once time in school it was just raaaaging out of my nose and i already lost the will to stop it and my whole class freaked out, and i was just sitting there, making a puddle.

teacher: shouldn't you stop that
me: i should, yes.
teacher:why won't you?
me: meh.

poor bastard who had to clean that up.

It's been years and years since I last had an actual "nose bleed", and when I used to get them it was never just a spontaneous thing - in other words, I'd gotten hit in the nose somehow. Now that my rough and tumble youth is behind me, the altercations that would prompt nose bleeds have disappeared by the wayside.

I had them a lot as a kid and in my early teens.
You're actually supposed to lie flat, I think. I heard somewhere that sudden, unexplained nose-bleeds were to make you do that.
Not sure why. Chances are the person I heard it from had no fucking clue what they were saying.
It certainly never helped me when I got them.

Anyway, the worst one I ever had went on the better part of an afternoon, I think. Maybe three, four hours.
That was almost scary how long that went. Pumping blood, too. I began to think I should maybe start swallowing it, get it back into my system.
Didn't really get dizzy or anything, though. Actually, I was mostly just bored out of my mind waiting for it to stop.

Also, inb4 nosebleed/boner connection.

Your classmates are morons, it's the best way to not get blood everywhere when running to somewhere you can bleed.

As a haemophiliac, I get some bastard nosebleeds, often with no visible cause, the longest I've had is about an hour, but the amount of blood that comes out is stupid, especially towards the end, when I finally start clotting, which tickles my nose and I inevitably sneeze out clotted blood and start up again. I'll tell you now, sneezing blood is fucking weird.

That used to happen to my mum almost every night when she slept, she ended up having to get surgery to stop it happening.

That's what I was thinking, would they rather I bled all over them?

I only get nosebleeds when I've been punched really hard or when I listen to Lavender Town (no seriously, it gives me a nosebleed)

I guess it bled a lot this one time I got hit in the face with a basketball which someone had kicked full force from about 10 metres away. I also got a concussion.

I guess mine was caused by being punched in the face waaaay back when I was in school. Smart move of that guy, I would probably have kicked his arse if I didn't see stars and tried to stop the bleeding afterwards.

I once rolled off a sofa in my sleep. Mum had moved a table next to me with fans on (we were on holiday and the accommodation was AC-free, shit as it was). I smashed the side of my nose against the table. Lots of blood.

I've had a bruise-like mark on the upper part of my nose ever since. I've never had a nose bleed since. Not sure if it's because of that though.

I got a tiny nose bleed and sneezed. Burst a blood vessel and it stopped just before I was about to go to hospital.

Well, quite a few of these kinds, but I don't get them often. No idea what the longest was...

I remember once I pulled out 2 of them, if you're talking about a long thin bloody thing. I was late for school because of the buggers...

I once had a series of nosebleeds at high altitude. Halfway up a mountain they just will not stop. Made eating dinner interesting.
