That will never get old..

OT: Toy Story 1 and 2, watched them for the first time around the same age as Andy was in those films. Still love'em to this day.
Together with Toy Story 3, it's the best trilogy ever in my opion.

Phantasy Star on Master System. I'm replaying it now after 25 years and loving it. Back when gamers were real men (before women even played games) and had to map their own dungeons.

AC/DC. I grew up listening to them and they can still make me feel something (especially Bon Scott era).

However, your question may be slightly flawed. It still holds up for me, but how do I know it's not my nostalgia pushing it through? For a real answer I have to list what I get nostalgic about and some else who has encountered it for the first time must judge if it holds up.

Still good for me -

Games
Phantasy Star (Master System)
Command and Conquer (PC)
Ms. Pac-man
Robotron
Rygar

Film
American Werewolf in London
Empire Strikes Back

Music
AC/DC
Led Zeppelin

TV
Blake's 7

I guess the test of a classic is something that passes the majority of people's nostalgia tests.

Unfortunately it does. After about 35 you really lose interest in it. Enjoy it while it lasts but don't make it a big part of your life or you may suffer depression when you lose interest...

You always hear about nostalgia being a pair of spectacles with dirt, scratches and greasy smudges on the lenses. Games, movies, shows ... you always hear people say that the things they thought were great many years ago (usually during childhood) they now think are rubbish.
Nope. That's seldom thing.

So, my question is: What game, movie, show, comic book, or anything else that you liked years ago and that you had on the infamous "nostalgia blinders" for still stand the test of time? That you can still like ever after you have grown and matured? For me, it's Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast. To this day I think it's a great game.
How about all you other Escapists out there? What's yours?
Games : Eye of Beholder series, Hired Guns.
Book : "Chłopiec z Salskich Stepów" by Igor Newerly.
Comic book : Green Lantern series (Hal Jordan Era)
Music : Bathory.
Movies : "Horror Express".

Rainbow Bright. It's way more fun now, there are random innuendos that I would not have gotten as a kid. Also, I had no idea there were as many episodes as there were.
Original Pokemon series as well, again with the innuendos and jokes.

Also, original Smash Bros. That game still captures my heart.
Pokemon Snap, there is just something really satisfying about getting Pikachu on the damn surfboard.

I've decided that nostalgia impacts my enjoyment a SHITLOAD. Anytime I try to watch a classic film that I haven't seen, I generally can't even finish it, but I can watch any crappy movie that I saw as a kid and still love it.

Disney movies. I never would have though it, but they often - wait for it - get BETTER with age.

There's all sorts of stuff I get now that I didn't when I was a child! And the musical numbers... I liked them back then, but I LOVE some of them now. Hellfire, Poor Unfortunate Souls, Go the Distance, I'll Make a Man Out of You... bad-ass, high-quality songs for awesome movies. GO DISNEY I LOVE YOU!
Very much agreed.
Also, as much as I love English, "Hellfire" sounds even more badass in my native language.

OT: Some of the games from the SNES era still hold up nicely, such as Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island, and especially the Donkey Kong Country series.

I've been pretty lucky with nostalgia, actually. Maybe just because I'm still a little kid at heart. It would probably be quicker to list things from my childhood that I liked then that don't stand up at all now.

Heck, I've come across plenty of things that I didn't like as a kid that I actually enjoy as an adult, and now think are much better than my younger self ever gave them credit for.

Mine would be Skies of Arcadia and, Banjo Kazooie/Tooie and Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time/Majoras Mask

Skies of Arcadia is less a game I played ritually as a kid and more one I once dreamed of playing. When I was a kid (6-8 years old) a friend of mine used to play the original SoA and I would usually watch and play the occasional level. Thing was at the time I had an N64 not a Dreamcast so I didn?t have my own copy to play it properly. Eventually after a few years I found the game had been rereleased on the Gamecube and I decide now was the time to finally play the game for real and I was dumbstruck! It seriously is one of my all-time favourite games but weirdly very few people actually seem to remember it or have ever played it. It ranks somewhere alongside ?Primal? as a game that is a blend of Western/Japanese creation that very few people seem to have heard of. Back when I first heard about it I paid about £15 for a copy on the Gamecube, I just checked now and the price has gone up to a minimum of around £40!

Banjo Kazooie and Legend of Zelda were one of the first games I had ever played and were on the N64 back when it was new. They were the games I would run home to play and me and my friends would discuss strategies, hidden finds etc.

Even on new reboots on XBLA and Gamecube they still take me back to those times when I first picked up the controller and inherited the title of Gamer. These are the old games I replay every few years to remind myself what true gaming is all about, not achievements or blasting noobs, but epic ship battles with pirates, fighting giant Balloon Dinosaurs and charging around the land on horseback to save a kingdom.

I dont even know what else to say, that game is awesome
Agreed, though being European I still call it Lylat Wars even after all these years.

I think the fact that there have been little other high profile scrolling shooters like it cements its place as a relevant playable game.

Deus Ex, Morrowind and Silent Hill 2 never disappoint, and they're played most years. They tend to actually show me how much I don't like many newer games.

In terms of movies... I recently watched the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie (1990) and its (first) sequel. They still kick so much ass, about 20 years after I first saw them.

Majora's Mask and Banjo Kazooie have always been good to me. I dust them off and play them every now and then. Those two are pretty much the reason I still have my N64 still hooked up.
Some of the comedy shows I watched in my youth have also gotten better with age. I missed a lot of the subtleties in things like the Goodies, the Goon Show and the Muppets when I was a lad.
Also, living outside the country of my birth, I carry with me a great deal of food related nostalgia. The UK's an alright place to live, but their snack food items can't hold a candle to the stuff you get in Australia. I've been back to Aus a few times since I moved here when I was 9, and I always come home with half a suit case full of Cherry Ripes, Arnott's Shapes, Minties, Cadbury Snacks and I gorge myself on Big Ms (Or whatever they're called now) and potato cakes for the duration of the trip.

As you said Sonic Adventure 1 and 2.

Also Lost Kingdoms 1 and 2, seriously more people need to play those games.

I also still enjoy the first Mortal Kombat film, in all its campy goodness.

How can none of you bring up Cannon Fodder? I played that when I was about 5 years old on a goddamn Amiga, 'Wars never been so much fun' theme song and all. Absolute classic. Anyone that disagrees is a Communist ****** that hates freedom and puppies.

Nostalgia...you could be here for a while in my case.

When I really think about it only so many really stand up particularly well gameplay-wise with the passage of time...Even the most beloved of past ages tends to pale before the smooth and flowing mechanics and physics of some modern titles.

Many are remembered fondly, but only some of them seem like they'd still feel relevant/playable.

Burnout 3. It never -ever- got old.

Halo:CE is still quite playable.

Ocarina of Time

Pokemon: Yes, Pokemon.

Another World/Out of This World

The original Perfect Dark...Proven by XBLA.

F-ZERO(all)

Bungie's Marathon trilogy...Proven by both Aleph One and XBLA(in this case, Marathon 2)F*** your weak Sh**, DOOM.

Command & Conquer

Starcraft(Always trumps Warcraft in my book, btw.)

Escape Velocity series: Originally Mac, EV: Nova also for Windows.

Of the very earliest eras......

Any text-based adventure - Honestly, I wish people still made these. Or maybe they do, and I'm just not looking hard enough.

Missile Defense

(Any) lunar lander

Centipede

Galaga

brick-out

Xevious

And that's just in terms of gaming history...

So much classic sci-fi that still holds up. Star Wars...Pure love always.
Stargate from the original movie all the way up through SGU.
All Star Trek series -EXCEPT- DS9 for me. Especially TNG and Voyager. Never could get into DS9 for some reason. Enterprise was even better for me than that.
Titan A.E.
Any classic Transformers series up to Beast Machines. (Trukk AND Munky FTW!!!!)
The Last Starfighter.
Anyone remember "The Last Earth-Star Voyager"?
The Greatest American Hero

I think I'll not even get started on the Marvel and DC TV animated series I still can't get enough of...
