Not looking your age?

I'm 18, always looked younger. It's the height and the baby face. In high school everyone thought I was in the 7th grade when I was a senior. I left school early and went to tafe, so most people assume i'm in my 20's.
One guy who went to tafe with me thought i was 21-22 when i was 17. The same year I was trying on shoes at a store with my mother and the saleswoman asked if I was too young to start wearing heels.

people have always thought I look older than I am. Bought my first drink when I was 15 (I think being 196cm tall helps a bunch ) and nowadays when I go out, I am never IDed.

As much fun I can have (and have had) with my 'older look', I seriously don't hope that by the time I turn thirty, that I wind up looking 45...

You should hope you look like a good looking, healthy 45 year old and not one who looks like a human train wreck.

Well, we can always hope, of course. Depends whether I turn alcoholic or not, I assume ;-).

However that does make me a cutie pie I was blessed with shortness and puppy eyes.

at 15 I was 196cm (stopped growing though) so I was always able to buy drinks (sometimes) and movie tickets because people thought I was 18. nowadays, I NEVER get IDed (and I'm now 18, 19 soon)

well, actually its not that surpirising. Im bordering on 6-foot, and people in hawaii arent exactly tall. usually. not to mention the way I dress. (its more common among office workers than people my age,levis and clad shirts. the levis are hot as hell though,so Im not ALWAYS twice my age.)

If you act like an immature 16-year old it's no wonder you get mistaken for one.

30 but get mistaken for 21/22 all the time. I love it. Best moment was when I was out with my younger sister(25) and I was carded. She wasn't. XD She was so mad!!

I always have looked older than i am, probably always will. What i don't understand is people like the OP getting pissed off because they get I.D'd they're doing their job. If they served alchol to an underage group then they'd get fined or she'd get sacked. Is giving you the benefit of the doubt worth her job? Will you pay her bills if she gets sacked? If you have a baby face, dont get upset at others about it, just take your I.D. More to the point if you gave any of the bar staff abuse for asking you your age where i work you wouldn't get served, pointblank, no discussion, and would probably be told to get your things and get out.

A little while back, I was out at a pub with my friends to celebrate my birthday (I turned twenty one.) When the waitress asked us what we wanted to drink. I asked for a Keiths and she said that someone that is my age should not be ordering beer. I asked how old she thought I was. She responded with the straightest face ?turning sixteen". I did not let this bother me, but just today when I was walking my dog at about eleven in the morning. A woman had come up to me asking about my dog and then asked why I was not in school. I told her that I was finished school and I was in college. She had apologized and said that I looked seventeen.

I know this should not bother me but it does because I am in my early twenties and people who look at me think I am still in secondary school.
So my question is
Have you ever been mistaken for being older or younger and does it bother you?

So you decided to be a douche to this waitress for doing her job, and thinking you were younger than you are? Yes, totally not a dick move on her part. Seriosuly though, being a dick to someone for mistaking your age isn't very mature is it? All you had to do was show your ID and then get the beer you wanted. I bet she spat in your food.

OT: I look around my age, 18, sometimes I get ID'ed for alcohol and sometimes I don't.

I never get asked papers anywhere anymore. I'm 22, all my mates get asked for papers when we go to pubs, but the doormen always give me a "get over yourself" look, and let me in. When I turned 18, I bought hard liquor from liquor stores, and only like a year later someone managed to tell me that you actually have to be 20 to do that.

I think people pretty much think I'm ten years older than I actually am. A guy at a pub thought I was 35, and my mate was 25, while I was 21 and he was 22.

And yeah, it's all because of the beard.

My dad looks about 45, when he's 43 but when he went into a shop to buy some super glue to fix something the man at the counter asked for some ID...

I had a goatee beard when I was 13-14, so I obviously looked a lot older.
I'm 29 now but I look young for my age compared to other people (Bar a few grey hairs in my stubble). People assume I'm in my early or mid twenties.

I am 25 and could easily pass for a high schooler (16-18) in physical appearance. I've had people inspect my ID like criminal investigators they struggle to believe my age.

Last year on a trip to Europe I was actually asked if I was old enough (15!) to be in the exit row.

You're 21 now and you're complaining but when you'll be 50 and someone will say that you look 30, you'll be happy.
