I really have to ask, how did he arrive at the decision to fashion a (functional) instrument out of PVC piping? What event occured in his life to make the connection between plumbing equipment, and music? I'm to going to get an answer, but that was quite impressive.

Encore! Do "Ballad of the Wind Fish [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IB7BV1ewsZk]" or "Tal Tal Heights [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1shQkN03l8]"! Maybe a little "Hidden Village [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OC19pEsYTcg]" (complete with whistling!)

This is pretty cool, but this guy could use some serious work on his rhythm.

P.S. Thanks

That was bloody awesome!! (Although I'd liked to have seen/heard more of Saria's Song in there...)

That's just me being fussy though.

Oh my days!!! I looooooved that music, even though it came out of crappy GameBoy speakers... Might have to go play me some Link's Awakening again sometime soon...! (Still have my 21 year-old GameBoy, and all the games for it...)

That's actually pretty sweet. Glad to see more of the youth interested in creating interesting and musical things like this.

I mean, it would even sound good clapped in the cheeks.
Lol I just tried that just now =P When you get up to the higher notes, the sound of slapping your face kinda overpowers them, hehe.
But LOVING this medley! Definitely the last 2 pieces were the best. LOVED Gerudo Valley!

Gerudo Vally FTW

Great bass notes, not so great high pitch, but overall fantastic.
Agreed. I also think it sounds much better on the faster and heavier sections, it gets a bit weak on the slower parts.

Really does sound like a MIDI sound font. Kinda cool even though I don't care for Zelda.

ive seen this guy before, apparently his dad helped him build it.

and he does shows and stuff, not just a youtube gimmick.

check him out though, whenever you recognise something, (whether it be lady gaga or pirates of the carabean (i know its spelled wrong) or just some other songs and tunes), its pretty immersive to watch.

That's amazing, I'm quite impressed. Perhaps he should start marketing that PVC instrument of his?

UK folks have been doing this in community arts projects since 1994: http://www.trasharts.org/. And they weren't the first (Urban Strawberry lunch: http://www.usl.org.uk/, STOMP (perhaps the most famous of all? http://www.stomp.co.uk/ . In the UK, it's referred to as trash music and the instrument is a bat-phone... it's played with table tennis bats or flip-flops...

Wow, impressive but still, an incredibly useless skil.
not useless. Music and rhythm are very important groundings for coordination, concentration, reading, maths, computing, physics, english, group work, and so on.... not to mention the cultural importance of music. Not everyone wants to, or can afford to pick up classical music, drum kit, xylophone or even a guitar. Bashing bits of pipe is something everyone can try, and in almost any part of the world where industrial waste is available. It's nothing new, it's been going on around the world for centuries, but the advent of plastic has made this a particularly modern take on the recycled junk percussion band.
