Translation from Notch: I plan to milk this product for all its worth and I don't want Steam influencing how much I can rob people.

seriously though, Notch is going to rob the minecraft community blind. he's going to charge you for updates, he's going to charge you for items, capes, download packs...if he thinks he can get away with it.

Also he likely enjoys being paid in the higher value euro's then in rapidly deflated american currency.

I love minecraft and I was glad to get into it when I did but for what he is trying to turn the game into, a cash cow...its a little bit shameless to wonder just how deep minecraft will eventually mine into new comers pockets.
I find it amazingly contradictory of you to say he's robbing people if you actually enjoyed your purchase. You are making your own comments and opinions horridly invalid..

And no particularly big amount of Care was given.

Navigating through a computer to get from Steam Games to other Games is not all that difficult.

Mmhm. I can't walk 5 feet in Team Fortress 2 without coming across someone wearing a Hat from the Steam Marketplace. On top of that, the Consile Version has remained unchanged since the game's launch, containing none of the new maps, game types, weapons, or upgrades. And it's not free, either.

Has Valve been robbing people all these years? Just don't buy a cape if that's such a problem. It's not a Pay to Win system.

And charging for updates? That sounds more like ridulous paranoia than anything else. And don't pull the Expansion Pack card on me, because that's a completely different idea. Plus, if you were smart, you bought the game in Alpha, so you won't have to pay for Xpacs anyway.

Nothing wrong with selling your game without using Steam.... as long as you aren't creating your own Digital Distribution system and making your games exclusive to it in order to spite the competition....
Well no-one in the world would be stupid enough to do that i think. At leats not without offering a non-optional spyware package, not anti-spyware mind you, but spyware, as an added bonus.
