It's amazing how no matter how much I entirely agree with him, I feel like he's just saying "I'm a douche! I'm a tool!"
Good work Notch, you bastard.
Good work Notch, you bastard.
OK, let me hand you this, with all my sympathy and love. You know we agree on certain things, so let's cope with disagreeing on some other things, without trying to paint the other the enemy, as that's really of no great use to anyone. If you want me banned, I can serve you just that, with sugar and sparkling shit sprinkles on top, but that's not going to be accounted for on the plus side of your karma account.mad825 said:If you've got something to say, say it. There's emotions involved so I censored out the passive-aggressive bits, since they do not contribute anything to the discussion and would probably get me banned... from this planet.mad825 said:Personal insults? Asexuals don't have a drive to have sex, thus the name. The animals in Minecraft reproduce with one another, thus their pretty much homosexual in the way that they are having sex with another of the same gender but it gets confusing when you add in baby animals and yaaay... I pretend its just a adoption agency from the sky that drops them off to their new parents.drthmik said:wouldn't a lack of specific gender make everything in Minecraft Asexual rather than Homosexual?

I have no idea what you're on about, but I just wanted to point out how hypocritical it is to jab at Minecraft as a complete waste of time on a video game forum openly called The Escapist. I guess your art games like Braid aren't wastes of time because they're so culturally enriching?Headdrivehardscrew said:Look.Twilight_guy said:I'm sorry to tell you this Notch but the idea of 'male as default' is a serious issue and one you can't skirt around by saying 'feminist argument' and 'represents a human being'. You can take no side and wash your hands of it, but its not something you can not be involved in, even if you don't want to be. It's like racism in that no matter what color your character is, someone will cry racism just because he is some color. The only escape is to create something distinctly non-human, like a green skinned alien.
Back in the days, practically Once Upon A Time, there were real, genuine feminists. Take, for example, the Suffragettes - Women standing their ground to establish women's rights to vote. A very real struggle with a well-defined, real-world aim that served women in a modern society, as well as society as a whole. That's also why the Suffragettes were made up of women of all sorts of political stances, because they were united in their goal. That's pretty rare these days, innit.
The currently rampant BS out in the wild may be labelled "feminism", but it's really only a spin-off project of Communism, which might also employ rebranded diet/light versions like Socialism or Marxism. Ooh, politics! Well, you should be aware of the fact that feminism is but a political crowbar in gift wrap these days.
Its purpose is to mess with people's heads, it only serves to make everyone as unhappy and costly as possible, and it only serves the one purpose to help 'transform', cause chaos and help bring along destabilization of everything not yet ready for the scripted revolution.
So, I stopped playing Minecraft as I consider it a complete waste of time (I've also stopped playing with LEGO some decades ago), but if the kids want to prefer playing virtual LEGO in Minecraft to building something "real" with plastic bricks, hey, who am I to judge? Notch keeps politics out of Minecraft, and the simplified world of Minecraft ain't that bad, methinks.
Also, in reality, the default of all of us is, in fact, the female archetype. Being male is pretty much only a mutation of the female, a hairier, bulkier version carrying its reproductive organs on the outside of the body, so we can adore wieners and so the sperm - as in little squiggly things carrying the stuff we're all made of, including the XXs and XYs - doesn't get too hot. It's all very basic, but it makes us humble brothers and sisters of cats and dogs and bovines and marsupials and snakes and turtles and whatnot. Not slugs, as they are the slimy SM troopers of the animal world, impaling each other with spears while doing it, the dirty little things.
Indeed, I really didnt give it a thought either till this article popped up. Heck, you are able to mod and skin the game with ease, the game was practically made for it! My "steve" is a freaking pony for peat's sake! I really hope the gender politics end here soon, I want people to move on to the next subject to complain about.VanQQisH said:I never even gave gender a thought in Minecraft. Not even once. You know why? I just wanted to build shit. Holy fuck, get over this annoying gender politics already. It's not interesting or amusing in the slightest.

A few months back, Notch tweeted to Tim something along the lines of "@TimSchaeffer[footnote]or whatever his twitter handle is[/footnote]: Psychonauts 2. Let's make it happen."lacktheknack said:?targren said:Now, about Psychonauts 2...?
What would Notch have to say about Psychonauts 2? Tim Schafer's the guy who owns it.
Well, there are ways to enjoy Minecraft more than you do, but you're consciously choosing not to employ them.targren said:snip
What do you mean? Are you referring to playing PvP (the fun of which is very subjective), because that was the only suggestion that I'm "consciously choosing" to pass on. The rest is, as I said, just a lack of any sense of direction (figuratively and literally. A compass would be great...) in what to even do in the game.McMullen said:Well, there are ways to enjoy Minecraft more than you do, but you're consciously choosing not to employ them.targren said:snip

Well played Notch and I like the gay angle in there, it makes me feel special. ^ __ ^
Of course a feminism debate is going to jump out of this and honestly, feminism right now gets a bad rap because many women use it as a excuse to be complete dicks to men, similar to black guys who think their getting back at the "white man" for decades of slavery by treating white guys like shit.
Well, regarding the wiki as cheating is probably your biggest barrier. In fact, you might want to disregard the concept of cheating altogether for this game. It's not really a thing that applies. You can no more cheat at Minecraft than you can cheat at legos.targren said:What do you mean?
