I love planes in minecraft. They make traveling so much faster, and is less of a construction hazard that my subway system. Besides, my castle already has a hangar concealed behind a waterfall, so why not just make planes official?

And the cloud lands look amazing! It makes sense, really. We already have a purgatory world (think about it, all alone in hostile world, scavenging for scarce resources in an effort to forge some sort of meaning from the void), and hell. Why not add heaven? Oooh, and why not angels as enemies? We already have demon-things as hostiles, why not angel stand-ins as well?

If he didn't "take ideas" there would literally be nothing left to do. It's similar to movies that "Steal ideas". We are what? 10 thousand years deep into written human history? It's probably been done.

The Aether people will just slightly modify their mod to run off the official code and end up with a smaller mod download and less things to work around. Frankly it'll probably be all wins for them.

The pistons that he claims will be added work as faith plates. They fire the player and objects straight up if you position them correctly.

Of course, Notch may decide to do it differently.

I mean, if Notch said he enjoyed some, say, toast, would it lead to people saying "toasts in Minecraft?". Eh, perhaps thats an overstatement.

Also, the mod people are saying Notch is stealing off is, in fact, based off a suggestions from the Minecraft suggestion board. Which I'm pretty sure is where you put ideas that you want Notch to steal.

Alsoalso, them islands look fairly cool. Yet also hidious. Hopefully, skylands wil be opposite to the Neather, with lots of open space and danger from falling to your death, compared to the closed up feel of the Neather, and burning to death.

Yeah, you're right! Why does everyone start complaining about this new area? Now you wouldn't have to download 5 different mods to run just this one. By the way, who says Notch got his idea from this mod ( you have to admit, sky islands aren't a very original idea ). I actually like that it's coming to Minecraft in an update in stead of a mod. Ever since the Nethers came with the Halloween Update people have been thinking about this, and I like it.

I think it would be cool if he made a counterpart to the nether such as an area representing heaven as the nether was representing hell. Also he could add portals to go to it.

I do like the notion, but between this and the map patch.. it is really driving home the concept that Notch has ADD.

I like the notion of the sky world, I love the notion of the map, but seriously theres so many other things that need to be in the game first, like More blocks, more recipes, NPCs, etc.

Perhaps notch needs to adopt the valve philosophy. Release the engine, let people play with it, and then buy out those modders who do great things with it and claim it as your own. I mean Notch has the money now, Im sure he can afford it now.
