I notice he said 'nerf', not 'remove'.

They'll likely remove blocks slower, rather than stop removing them altogether. Make it a longer, more drawn out process.
I hope that's true, as what they had been doing so far never really bothered me. Those who whined about it hurting what they built obviously never thought to use their imagination to combat the problem.

Enderman have several weaknesses. They can't live in daylight, they can't live in water. They are three meters tall making anything only two meters out of their access. Frankly I find this bullshit about whiners who can easily turn it all off by setting their difficulty to peaceful. If mobs are that much of an annoyance then they shouldn't even be around.

If you can't handle the adventure then go play Farmville.

NERF THEM?
Wtf endermen are too weak! You can have a happy hug party with four of em and they won't do you scrap unless you look at their faces!
Besides they die from two arrow shots! And arrows are easy to come by when you have skeletons burning in sunlight. And again you recharge your HP when you're on full stamina, that gives you every reason possible to charge head on into their face and swing your sword like a maniac and you'll still emerge the victor!

AND THEY DIE IN WATER!

I am horribly disappointed in the endermen after I figured out these facts as they were no sweat to take care of anymore, they need to be stronger...

THEY NEED TO BE BUFFED!

The enderman should be as follows:
* Current "silent and peaceful till you look at him" behavior.
* When you do, he lets out a blood-curdling strangled screech of some sort.
* At this point, you have a random amount of time, up to about two seconds, to look away - so that he's not in your field of vision any more - before he attacks. If you do, he will not attack - but he will remain active for a random amount of time after. If you look at him while he's active, he will attack.
* He should deal about half your health bar in damage per hit.

And voila! Instant genuinely scary enemy!

While the idea that there's a monster out there that can move blocks around sounds good and scary on paper, in practice it just makes it tedious to have players painstakingly maintain their builds. As if the Creepers weren't a nuisance enough, going Allah Achbar in your face while you're in your greenhouse.

I don't mind them picking up my fortress, I just found it weird that every tree was missing one wood block right in the middle.

I really don't see any initial problem or threat they pse because if you stare at them they com for you and if thy take one block of your house or creation it's more easy to fix one or two blocks compared to a creeper possibly killing you and your creation in one blow.

I say leave them as they are. Their ability to move blocks that you've placed just adds challenge to the game. It makes it really intense when you have a shitty little hovel and there are Endermen breaking down your walls and making their way into your home to brutally murder you. All the while you clutch your wooden sword and pray to Notch for the scary monsters to leave you in peace.

But ya, don't change anything Notch. The Endermen are awesome as they are!

Why nerf them just because they can break 1 block? Creepers can do far more damage than that and they're also far more common/

Aww what? i liked these guys making holes in everything.. cant we just have a craftable enderman ward to go over our door or something? red-stone around an enderpearl perhaps? just stop them coming near things you build
I agree with this logic. It's a hell of a lot better than just nerfing the move ability.

They remind me of the Slender Man. I'm no 'MC' expert but if there were to be a boss or a random enemy, that would be it.

Endermens structural damage wasn't even half as bad as creepers.
If a creeper explodes it's because YOU, the player, failed to prevent it from exploding. Endermen as they are now will damage your house regardless of if you're even there: the same thing that gets people banned from servers for griefing. This nerf isn't about people whining, it's about not taking the game out of the player's hands.

Well, that's just stupid. The random block removal adds to their creep factor, not only because it opens up new threats you have to deal with, but also because it's just inexplicable behavior...what are they actually doing with all those blocks? D:

Really though, the more mobs that require more than a mud wall to keep them out, the better. It encourages players to create more interesting structures.

So what's the point of survival mode then?

To just build things? We have creative mode for that.
Oh you want to craft stuff and play the game 'legit'? There's a peaceful difficulty for that.

Survival mode was actual becoming like, I dunno, a freaking survival mode but now we are taking steps backwards. At least add an option to keep the original Endermen for people who actually want to play survival mode.

I don't understand why Notch would remove their ability to move blocks. I think it adds a creppy element to the game. I can't even count the number of times I have been wantering around through a forest and found an eerie structure of cobbled together blocks. It's like thier calling card, and it can be quite creepy!

I would rather see Notch leave their ability in, but make some way for players to ward them off.

Maybe some kind of crafted item using an ender pearl; some sort of staff that they won't come x number of blocks near?

C'mon, that's awesome! Love going into a wood and see trees and stuff that have been moved around. PLEASE notch, if you must change ANYTHING, change the difficulty of them. The not really scary if I can kill them with a stone sword in four hits :L

Well,

SLENDERMEN

They basically are Slender Man, but... lots of him. And they move your shit.

I always saw them as some kind of eldritch abomination from another plane of existence that, for whatever reason, want to simply delete your cube world one block at a time. After the nerf they're just tall shadowy, things that go down easy.
