Blargh. I haven't had a problem with Endermen effing with my structures, but I can see why it would be a game-breaker to an unlucky few. That said: DELETE THE TELEPORTING? WHY? If you mess with the teleport they're just tall zombies! Who's scared of that?

I say it should just be left as is, or give you a chance in teh options menu to toggle their capability On or Off. I mean, why remove it? Because it's hard? So make it optional.

It would force people to illuminate their houses properly and also to make creative use of water to protect their structures.

Creepers destroyed your house if you let them.
Endermen destroy your house while you're out mining, it's stupid and annoying.

What's the point of having shelter if it can be circumvented when you're not around to do anything about it? It will get exasperating for players who make big fancy structures then come back and there's tons of holes they need to fill in their walls. After a few hours, it's a fun novelty. After a few hundred? A constant annoyance that serves no real gameplay purpose.

Whoever had the idea of using Enderpearls to fend off Endermen: you rock. I agree. Let's get modding.

I'd have done the opposite: nerf the teleporting and keep the block moving. Or maybe make it so they can only move non-player placed blocks.

Or hey, here's an idea: let the player choose.

I notice he said 'nerf', not 'remove'.

They'll likely remove blocks slower, rather than stop removing them altogether. Make it a longer, more drawn out process.
I hope that's true, as what they had been doing so far never really bothered me. Those who whined about it hurting what they built obviously never thought to use their imagination to combat the problem.

Enderman have several weaknesses. They can't live in daylight, they can't live in water. They are three meters tall making anything only two meters out of their access. Frankly I find this bullshit about whiners who can easily turn it all off by setting their difficulty to peaceful. If mobs are that much of an annoyance then they shouldn't even be around.

If you can't handle the adventure then go play Farmville.

NERF THEM?
Wtf endermen are too weak! You can have a happy hug party with four of em and they won't do you scrap unless you look at their faces!
Besides they die from two arrow shots! And arrows are easy to come by when you have skeletons burning in sunlight. And again you recharge your HP when you're on full stamina, that gives you every reason possible to charge head on into their face and swing your sword like a maniac and you'll still emerge the victor!

AND THEY DIE IN WATER!

I am horribly disappointed in the endermen after I figured out these facts as they were no sweat to take care of anymore, they need to be stronger...

THEY NEED TO BE BUFFED!

The enderman should be as follows:
* Current "silent and peaceful till you look at him" behavior.
* When you do, he lets out a blood-curdling strangled screech of some sort.
* At this point, you have a random amount of time, up to about two seconds, to look away - so that he's not in your field of vision any more - before he attacks. If you do, he will not attack - but he will remain active for a random amount of time after. If you look at him while he's active, he will attack.
* He should deal about half your health bar in damage per hit.

And voila! Instant genuinely scary enemy!

While the idea that there's a monster out there that can move blocks around sounds good and scary on paper, in practice it just makes it tedious to have players painstakingly maintain their builds. As if the Creepers weren't a nuisance enough, going Allah Achbar in your face while you're in your greenhouse.

I don't mind them picking up my fortress, I just found it weird that every tree was missing one wood block right in the middle.

I really don't see any initial problem or threat they pse because if you stare at them they com for you and if thy take one block of your house or creation it's more easy to fix one or two blocks compared to a creeper possibly killing you and your creation in one blow.

I say leave them as they are. Their ability to move blocks that you've placed just adds challenge to the game. It makes it really intense when you have a shitty little hovel and there are Endermen breaking down your walls and making their way into your home to brutally murder you. All the while you clutch your wooden sword and pray to Notch for the scary monsters to leave you in peace.

But ya, don't change anything Notch. The Endermen are awesome as they are!

Why nerf them just because they can break 1 block? Creepers can do far more damage than that and they're also far more common/

Aww what? i liked these guys making holes in everything.. cant we just have a craftable enderman ward to go over our door or something? red-stone around an enderpearl perhaps? just stop them coming near things you build
I agree with this logic. It's a hell of a lot better than just nerfing the move ability.

They remind me of the Slender Man. I'm no 'MC' expert but if there were to be a boss or a random enemy, that would be it.
