God sometimes I don't understand the governments reasoning. Right now we are involved in at least 5 major military conflicts in various regions around the world (of which any one of them could quickly boil over into World War 3), as well as the many social issues that affect our daily lives (race equity, sexuality equity rights, increasing poverty levels, A broken Health care system and many many others). Yet all I seem to hear about is how our elected leaders are spending there time and OUR money trying punish the current generation so they can keep sucking off the entertainment industry like its got candy coated cum.

and let me remind you that this is an industry that is allows shit like this to happens:
http://youtu.be/Si-xUeeqqRQ far too often.
I've seen videos where they ***** and ***** about how the artists are the ones getting screwed over, But I remember back three or four years ago when it was the entertainment industry itself that was screwing over the artists: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007%E2%80%932008_Writers_Guild_of_America_strike

But I guess this is America where the greatest freedom is the freedom to obey,
and the almighty dollar is God-King of everything.

GOD BLESS AMERICA

Sites that hold copyrighted material get taken down. Why is this a big deal? You want the content, pay for it.
So even though there's a lot of content shared by legal means that should also be removed because there is a lot of copyrighted material there?
How about Youtube, that has a lot of copyrighted material, should that be shut down? How about The Escapist?

There's a lot of content that is shared through those kind of websites that can't be bought, such as a video clip that I both made and shared through a site like that. Just because there's some copyrighted material should those who use it for legal means be punished?

VP: Mr. President, we have tried everything, but most of our military is unable to deal with the attack.

*puffs cigar*

Me: Mobilize Anon. We either do this or we lose the whole internet.

VP: Can we trust them?

Me: No, most of them are complete idiots, but they are the only hope we've got.

It's because of how annoying it is. I am currently collaborating with many other people on a project (read Skyrim mod), and we are relying on file hosting to be able to do this. Nothing that we are doing is in any way remotely against the law, and since I only know these people through the internet there really isn't any other way of sending such large files to each other. If this project has to stop because of this I will be genuinely annoyed, even though I have never pirated anything in my life...

Lol, why weren't you using TES Nexus or Dropbox? There's a huge disclaimer, or was, anyway, on MU saying that they aren't responsible for your data if it gets lost.

Ho ho ho.
Hi Santa.

OP:
Anyway, good to see that they could do this shit without SOPA!
Someone seriously needs to snap the US back in line, and get rid of damn corporate corruption.

Because earning money from distributing copyrighted work isn't corporate corruption? Nice bias. I think you mean "I want stuff for free! *cry* "
I can tell you've been anticipating this, due to your reaction times.

1) Not what i said. 2) Are you denying that there is corporate corruption in the world? 3) Tell me what you believe to be the motives behind this move and 5) Of course i want free stuff, who the hell doesn't? I won't get it illegally and never have or will, but if someone offers me a legal freebie i'll take it.

Now, i don't want to start a flamewar, so i'd prefer this to all be polite.

Ive got a feeling anonymous wont stay quite about this one....
weird when I started the same post whit a different less appealing title I didnt got any comments...
Videobb is still up...

I'm getting bored of this. It was easy when it was just the one or two sites you could visit, now the feebies have decided to throw a hissy fit and suddenly it's so much harder to find sites with uploads on them.

(Just in case)

Since people on this site seem to have a hard time understanding my message when I'm being sarcastic, here's what I meant:

Taking down megavideo/videobb/sidereel/youtube will not stop eople from finding ways to upload and watch files online. For every single site taken down a new one will be created almost immediately, probably more. Until either the internet is censored to the degree that the Chinese censor it (officially placing the US into dictatorship levels) or they agree to live and let live, people will always find a way to watch what they want to watch.

Someone somewhere needs to start being mature about this. However, since on the one side you have the internet (which is never going to mature ever) and on the other side you have the American government, which although it's made of mature citizens (thus definitely representative of the majority of the American populace) is never actually mature, I think that the back and forthing is more likely.

Yeah, this whole thing is just one big playground shoving contest, and the winner will be determined by who has the bigger hands.
yea now its up but when I posted the comment it was down...
also a lot of videos were removed.

What won't they stay quiet about the sites doing it of their own free will? The mega upload was the FBI the rest are out of FEAR for the FBI so Anon has no ground to stand on if they want to start going after people for this.
I posted this a few minutes after they stopped working so I didnt knew the details nor I could find any on the net and the ones I did find weren't specific enough.

I could pretty much see this coming. This is the FBI and Big Business going "Yeah, so you griped and bitched about SOPA? Yeah?! Well up yours, your filthy pirate liberal commie dog-raping Satanist, we're taking your shit down!"
The funny thing is, this was supposed to be the reality only if SOPA passed, and yet, here we are.

I hate to tell people "I told you so," but....
The state wins again. Chalk one up to Machiavelli.

I have to admit, this is what I would do I ran a country; if I tried to pass a law that I thought was perfectly good sense, and my people rebelled, I'd just enforce it more directly.

Not that I support this, of course. I'm just not surprised.

Crunchyroll.com. For up to date Bleach and Naruto ep officially licensed and streamed for free, supported by ads. Or you can subscribe for HD. Worth your support.

Quite frankly it makes me suspicious of a lot of these file-sharing sites that react this way to Mega's takedown.

Mega had the copyright infringement charges of course but so long as the sites do their job in reasonably policing and, oh I don't know, NOT conspire to profit and encourage uploading that illegal content they wouldn't end up in Mega's situation. That's what got Mega into such deep shit most likely.

Any site could bullshit their way through, "Oh we did all we could to take that illegal content down." even if they didn't, but it was the stuff they did on top of just hosting pirated stuff that they left up purposefully that screwed them.

3/4's of the people on this forum are obviously just pirates who are worried that times are changing, and leeching off society and the US is getting harder.

Where will I download all my Anime! But I used these sites for legal reasons! But these sites had the occasional legal link too!

Yeah those types of statements are really ridiculous. If you want Anime why not buy it? Why not use one of the hundreds of file hosting sites that don't support pirating?

I mean back in the day everyone was sad because pirates were being arrested and the outcry was "no arrest the people hosting/uploading content." So now the government is leaving the individuals alone and going after the root of the problem and everyone is still upset.
