How about on the news, when we see the scene of he latest terrorist attack, complete with a severed arm draped over a lamppost? Or the football game where a linebacker gets stepped on the wrong way and suddenly has a leg bone poking out of his skin? Or in car racing, where we are routinely treated to horrendous car crashes some of which result in the deaths of drivers? Such scenarios are rare, but they do happen, and there's never a hue and cry like there was for 2/3 of second of Janet's nipple.

By movies and TV I meant dramatic fiction, not so much the news. With regards to unforseeable events, like the linebacker's leg or the car crash, the equivalent would be a streaker. They happen all the time at sporting events and no one complains, at least not in the UK, because they know there's nothing the organisers or the TV station can do about it. Janet's nipple slip, however, was clearly set up. With regards to severed limbs and whatnot on news items on terrorists attacks, I've seen news items with naked people being pulled from rivers and rubble after natural disasters. It usually on late, but so is any gore that may be shown.
The Uk is different to the US i guess, more sensible about these things.
now mean phone calls, those are another matter....
Also, i'm not saying i agree with it, its just my explanation of the almost inexplicable fear of nudity in the media
