i just joined the dark brotherhood, and ocheeva welcomed me to the sanctuary as usual, then she ran off and killed a fellow DB member, i dont know the name, but it is a female elf archer

will this affect my game significantly at all?

EDIT: also its on PC with the OOO mod and some minor mods

I don't think so that elf will *ehem* still have the same faith.
but mabey your save file is corrupt because that shouldn't happen.

Nah.

She's not a major factor in anything. The game makes it so that quest-important people are immortal, with the few exceptions being some non-Guild/Main quest related people in Farmstead quests.

lol at Bethesda's "Radiant" AI.

Well, I've never had that happen to me before.
The game should still play fine tho as you don't need the female elf archer to start or finish any quests.
The only forseeable glitch I see maybe be when
You have to wipe out your DB group

And are you playing it on the PC or a console?

I think at most all that will happen is she might won't be there to give you advice on assignments in the future. But that's not really a big deal. Most are common sense/easily looked up on the internet.

Luckily as previously said, that archer is not quest-related, offered anything or game-breaking, so don't worry about it.

PC, with some mods on like OOO, and a few minor mods, maybe they cause it

That's most likely it. But it still probably won't be a game-breaker as you don't need her for anything else.
Just watch out for other "glitches" in the future.

Ugh. I can't stand OOO. Felt like a totally different (and not as fun) game when I tried it.

But it's not causing it, likely.

I had people randomly go nuts and kill each other.

It's the Radiant AI system Bethesda made/used. Caused some freaky shit.

It is not the OOO mod and probably not the other mods anyway it doesn't matter she is not quest related.

Ah there are other mods that add much more interesting things like Midas magic I don't see what all the fuss is about OOO.

Something very similar happened to me, but not right away. I was like, 2 quests in to the DB storyline and all of the sudden the big orc guy with the battle axe started beating the shit out of Talendril (or whatever her name is, the elf woman). It didn't stop me from completing anything in the DB questline. I haven't finished the main quest yet so I can't say for sure that it won't cause any other problems, but given the spoilers mentioned above, I'd guess it's probably not an issue.

I think the problem comes from the fact that that elf occasionally exits the area and disguises as a villager as part of her schedule, maybe she got switched to another faction and it didn't switch back when she entered the sanctuary. That happened on my first playthrough, but shes not required for any quest so you will be alright.

I dunno why it's so heavily recommended. I really just like Quest mods and Spell effect mods.

I enjoy most of the vanilla mechanics, like the scaling and leveling system too much to mess with them.

But adding new spell effects and stuff like multiple perma-summons?

And the Midas Magic mod you mentioned, of course.

I'm pretty sure that's just a Glitch, don't worry Talendril isn't really involved with any of the quests so it doesn't matter if she dies or not.

Are you sure? If you say so I will believe you since you seem to have a vast knowledge about Oblivion, but

What about the quest where you wipe out the brotherhood? I can see the OP standing there, looking around, thinking "Now where the fuck is that stupid elf" while the questmarker leads you to her corpse and finishing the game without console commands is impossible.

Weird though, I must have played Oblivion for more than 1000 hours and something like that happened to me once. Maybe you are just really unlucky OP.
4,000 hours here. :p

But TC will be fine even in *that* quest. I've killed in advance of that quest with no issues.

4000 hours?

Holy shit man. Respect.

Lets hope Skyrim turns out good, that way neither of us will ever have to go outside ever again!

Haha. Yeah. Thats the way it is.

OP, take it from this man, you should be fine. He's played it for 4000 hours, for christs sake.

(Btw, do you think thats a world record? 4000 hours? I know a lot of players reached 1000 hours but I cant say I have ever heard anyone who played it for quite that long)
Probably a world record for vanilla Oblivion. Most of 'em were on consoles. Maybe 100 on PC.

Major character are marked Essential, instead of a the normal circle they have a crown symbol when you talk to them.

Essential character cannot die until they stop being essential. (1 minor exception during the main story)

Ergo, any death in Oblivion will not cause any problems, because problematic characters cannot be killed.

It shouldn't be a problem. However, since you're playing it on PC you can easily work around the troublesome AI and the problems it may cause later by using the console commands.

I recommend 'resurrect ' if you need to talk to her, although the game will still consider her dead. Failing that you will need to skip to a specific quest stage by using 'setstage '.

All of this can be found on uesp.net [http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Oblivion], including the console commands [http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Console]. For quest ids and quest stages, simply head to the quest's page and it'll all be on there.
