I pose the corpses of my fallen enemies in Fallout 3 / New Vegas. Say I blow a raiders head off in VATS, that (headless) corpse then gets propped up against a wall with a sawnoff shotgun in their lap (yes I carry one around with me for this eventuality) and several empty whiskey bottles by their side (yes I carry those too). Other favourites (?) include the Junkie (stripped on a mattress with surgical tubing and empty syringes) and the Elvis (propped up on a public convenience with junk food scattered around).

I would provide pics but I play both those games on my Xbox and have no idea if you can screen capture on it or not.

<..>

Stop looking at me like that. It's normal.

Collecting gear in the elder scrolls games. Because it feels like such a waste to leave behind a 2 handed deadric axe (or whatever). Even if my character never uses axes.
Usually I'll make a glass, daedric, dwemer, ebony and elven collection. So basically anything that isn't just steel or leather. I did this even before display cases and mannequins were a thing.
In skyrim I've also started collecting any and all gems, which I than throw into a little fountain in my home. (The asteria player home mod, highly recommended if you like dwemer/steampunk stuff) It's starting to look really neat now that there's like 500 gems in there. Like the stereoptypical pile of gems and gold in a dragon's lair.

I am a compulsive saver. Every time I pass a save point, even if the last one was just two minutes ago, I NEED to save.
This but with quicksave. It started in the X games, capital ships had a tendency to ram stations and explode, now I catch myself doing it in games where failing is almost impossible.

Other thing is, games I really enjoy, I will restart endlessly, yet never once finish. Something to do with not wanting a good thing to end I guess.

Whenever I play multiplayer, I never kill anyone, I just go towards the freshly killed players to teabag their corpse so they think I was the one who killed them, guaranteed it never works.

Or sometimes when I play online I just do random shit, like look at the prices of couches and whatnot.

I love to wander if I can. I have spent hours of WoW time just walking around areas and looking at stuff. Any open environment game i wanna see every square inch of it. Drives my friends insane becuase i take ages to finish games for this reason. I hours looking at stuff in Bioshock too. I sort of fall into games.

Naming a character is very important to me. the name must be meaningful. and must match the appearance.

I'm so anal about character customisation, it's not even funny.

Seriously, I'll spend ages crafting a character and then if I notice something that bugs me, I'll delete hours of game play just to rectify it.
Heh, I remember creating a character in ME1 and it wasn't till well after the Eden Prime mission, as I'd skipped all the conversation, that I realised his eyes were much too close together.

Later on I lost my saves apart from that one, still not sure how I managed that, and ended up playing ME2 with this bonk eyed weirdo.

Are you me?!

Hell, I spent more of my first session with both Skyrim and KoA:R customizing my character than with actual gameplay.
I do the same thing.

Sometimes in GTA or Saints Row I just "Sunday Drive" around or follow a particular NPC until they turn a dark alley and then silently take them out.

Oh and if you don't lose the entire clip its always a good idea to reload its as important as saving your work.

I know some people may find it odd but I NEVER use fast travel in Bethesda games.

Oblivion, fallout 3, Skyrim, and Obsidian's New Vegas..... Never used it.

It takes away from so much of the game..... and when I hear "THOSE GAMES HAVE NOTHING IN THEM" it usually comes from people who fast travel everywhere and dont ever actually experience the world.
It's hard for me to critisize those people because well...they put fast travel in. You can't really blame people for using an intentionally added gameplay feature. Having said that I would much rather it wasn't there.

Yeah, i do this too. This also leads me to fall in certain DLC traps which involve reskins and different model types (Batman:AC- dark knight returns. I just NEEDED to have him).
I spent hours in the cutscene viewer of SR2 just to see Santa or Jesus smash a beerbottle into someones face.
I just love ingame cutscenes with my own created character. More games should feature an character editor.

In the former Max Payne games i often used the quicksave and load function. The shootouts just had to be perfect.
As much as they used bullet time in other games, i just can`t get enough of it. Playing Soldier of Fortune 2 with slow-mo was great...reloads and enters the room with a shotgun and throwing knifes.

Whenever a shooter features the Desert Eagle or a Magnum i use those big hand cannons as long as i can.

I am obsessed with hearing every single line of dialogue in a game. If I happen to miss even a single word I will reload. Same goes for movies... You can imagine how that goes.

In games that revolve around shooting I must reload everytime I kill somebody, because if I don't I will run out of ammo on the next person and die.

In games where these apply (RPGs mostly) . . .

  • [li]I close every door behind me.[/li]
[li]I must open (picking the lock, if necessary) and loot every container I come across.[/li][sub]I don't take and hoard everything though (strangely enough).[/sub]

  • These. I think the reloading habit has killed me more times than it's saved me, but the satisfaction of killing someone who failed to reload is incredible as a smug auto-reloader.

That's exactly what I do.

It used to massively irritate my friends when we were playing MMOs together.

I'd spend half my time rerolling just because I didn't like my hairstyle anymore.

I've still got the old CS 1.5 habit of instinctively reloading after each individual kill, most of the time it means I'm defenceless and I get fucked up by the guy inevitably camping in a corner.

In an RPG, I'll complete the game normally, then on my second playthrough, I'll use haxx0rz to boost my level/stats/gearscore to redonkulus levels and absolutely curbstomp everything. On the highest difficulty, if applicable. Also, come hell or high water, I WILL get the ultimate weapon!

... if I know how.

Also, whenever I play a Kingdom Hearts game, I always do this: Defeat the final boss normally, grind to the level cap, then defeat the FB again... with no accessories and the starting Keyblade. It's a lot more fun than it sounds, actually.

EDIT: Also, during previously-mentioned haxx0rz-fuelled rampages, I'll often go for asthetics over effectiveness when it comes to gear. My character in Dragon Quest IX has maximum stats in everything, so the only reason I'd put on endgame-level armor instead of his snazzy vest is due to the armor's secondary ablilities.

I hoard all things in a game that lets me. I was disappointed with all the junk in 'RAGE' that I couldn't pick up. Or when I get tired of hoarding random objects, I'll pick something like Teddies or toys, because that's what I'd probably do in real life
I have taught myself not to do too much random hoarding anymore. For instance, in Skyrim I now only pick up things with a certain cost/weight ratio. But I still keep on me a lot of equipment that I always think might be handy at some point in the game, but it never is.

And I sure did a load of hoarding in the past; Oh, the random crap my Fallout 3 character was carrying around... Good times. And I still can't resist picking up skulls and asking them for advice...

The Godfather game was good here. You don't need to restart, just reload your save, and up comes a menu with options, including face/body customization, and clothing options.

OT: Reload compulsively.

Also, on PC games, I tend to spend more time fiddling with graphics settings than actually playing.

Oh, I do a fair few bizarre things in video games. The not-even-close-to-complete list:

-As other people have mentioned, I item hoard. Obsessively. My party's obscenely low on health? "Too bad! I've got to save these potions. What if I need them later?" This mentality continues throughout the game... up to and including the final boss. I'll have ridiculous amounts of potions and even rarer, more useful items, and I just... won't use them. Even if I'm at the definitively final boss.

-I spend a lot of time in character creators (and will often delete games and restart if I notice something on my character that's bugging me)... but I'll also use better-looking armor over armor with better stats. I'm an aestheticist, I guess.

-If there is a chest/loot/anything, I must find it. In fact, I must find everything. It's a bit of a compulsion. If I think I've missed something, I'll go wandering around the area for way too long.

-If playing a game with save points... I always save at every single save point I come across. Even if I'm just backtracking to get a chest or something, and pass a save point I used a few minutes ago. I always save.

-In fighting games, if the game allows you to do a move after you've defeated your opponent, I always do a low-kick and "kick 'em while they're down." This started in Soul Calibur 2 and has not changed. This is also how I "Finish him" in Mortal Kombat games. My "ankle break of death" is now a bit of a running joke in my circle of friends.

I would love to do this. I need to continue my FO3 game then. That's pretty much how I play Garry's Mod.

I tend to explore every inch of a level. (Even when the game is highly linear)
You never see everything on your first playthrough? Hah, I beg to differ.
