It's weird for me. In RPGs normally it's just hack and slash complete quest get xp kind of thing, but when I'm playing just slightly drunk, for some reason I will read every fucking book I come across. If I'm slightly pissed playing Skyrim and I see a bookshelf containing many books I haven't read, I will spend hours reading them.

You must be the missing brother/sister I was told about.

OT: Besides character customization?

Probably how I save right before any awesome moment and do it over and over until it feels perfect.

But that's OCD for you.

I RP in crime sandbox games. I park my cars and somewhat obey traffic lights in SR3. I also refuse to just nab cars off the street. I have my signature gang vehicles and roll them around the city and to missions and such. I went as far as to obsess over my blue corvette clone in GTA III Vice City for fear of loosing it.

I go out of my way to save NPCs who can die. Such as in Skyrim, if I see a NPC in a fight I know they can't win I will rush over there and do my damnedest to save them.

Do this all the time. I took forever making sure my Shepard didn't look like the ass leakings seen in so many youtube videos.

I also tend to organize my inventories OCD style,

and shoot into the sky at signs of victory.

I probably have many more. Just can't think of any right now.

In Rpgs like skyrim and fallout, after I'm done talking to an npc I tend to shake the camera up and down as if I'm nodding goodbye or thanks. Don't know why though.

Also, I play with the cat every time I leave the apartment, but I wonder how unusual that really is.
The first part is odd. The second part, not so much.

For me, in any game that allows it, I always taunt. If I am beating someone into the ground and there is a taunt button, I will take the time to taunt them, be it Sengoku Basara, TF2, or Madworld. When I'm hit while taunting, I say "There's always time to taunt!"
Heh. My catchphrase in those instances is "Worth it!"

Not sure if it's just me - but in RTS games, I tend to do two things:
  • 1. I always aim for a glorious struggle rather than an outright victory, even if it means doing slightly stupid or ill-thought through things. My idea of a great game is one in which I fought hard and just triumphed.

    2. Especially if I have the AI as my allies, I tend to copy them and pretend to be an AI... e.g., in Stronghold, I try to copy the castle layout / unit choice of the AI I'm paired with. Even if it's not the best (see above).

... probably evidence of too much time on my hands.

this,

I also always try to create the same character, more or less, same facial features, skin color, build, hair style.

I also try to use my character in the same way as I do other games, so basically my fantasy rpg character always carry's a big two handed sword, wears light armor, uses berserk type spells...

this applies to all games from fight night to saints row.

kinda a recent thing but in some games I find myself constantly striving to do better in combat. While that might not sound that weird at first I do it to an extremely animal degree. Latest example would be the witcher 2 where is I take more than two hits in a battle even if I have bested my foes I will reload to do it again.

Also in GTA, saints row etc. I will follow a random npc for an entire day, just cause I can.

If there is a fun glitch in a game I will usually exploit it. For example the floating spoon glitch in Oblivion. I copied a spoon like thousands of times (on xbox mind you :p) and managed to make a pathway of spoons to the top of the White Tower.

In Bethesda games I usually RP a lot, I never use fast travel. Or I can only use my map when indoors when it's raining for example. Or every X amount of times I must eat something, which means I have to go hunting when i'm in the wild. I know New Vegas isn't a bethesda game, but I hoped they would've done more with the "hardcore" mode. Haven't played it on the PC yet, so there're probably some mods out for it.

In first person games with mirrors I have to check my face in the mirror regularly to see if it has been blown off. I suppose I find it unbelievable to be near death a hundred times without even getting a scar.

- Dude your face!
- What? What is wrong with it?
- Nothing, thats the creepy thing about it.

So...much...reloading. I have a constant fear of running out of ammo. I never use LMGs due to the fact I'll reload at 80 rounds left anyway. With RPGs I'm almost OCD with the little details in characters, especially mine. I'll spend forever making my guy, then getting into the game and realizing I suddenly don't like my nose and go back in. I also am a major packrat. Any item I feel in some far-off situation that will probably never happen I may use it I hang on to. I carried that goblin staff around in Oblivion until I got my first house, then stored it there instead of selling it.

All my characters are redheads with green eyes (whenever I can) and have all the same family name (whenever I can). I think of them of all from the same family across time and space.

Everything has to be perfect. I spend large amounts of time customizing characters to get exact look I have in my head. I put a lot of effort into maximizing stats and equipment. I have to discover the entire map, clear out every enemy, and take all the loot as well. I even get myself killed because I like to kill enemies in very specific ways, specially in MK 9.

I'll often reload an event over and over until I do it without it costing me consumables,
I sometimes do it to the point where I end up hating the game

I will shoot a bullet just to reload frequently. I just like seeing my gun animated/am a compulsive reloader I guess.

that's actually pretty cool..but by the time i get a new game where i can custom the character. im usually inspired by a new character that i have seen in a movie or series, in skyrim, my wood elf character was named after arya stark (G.O.T)..my second playthrough will be marton broadcloak (TDT)
