Simple premise: Share anecdotes of when something hilarious happened in multiplayer modes on games.

My friend and I were splitscreening Halo 3's online multiplayer, and got plunged against our will into a Team Rockets match, which irked us as we both cared about our K/D spreads at the time.

The map was the Narrows, if anyone remembers it. A way to get by we figured was to go to the back of our starting area, and run up the slopes on a wall. Enemy players running towards us wouldn't see us until it was too late, so we started picking people off. It was going well, though most of them twigged it and tried almost successfully to mount a coordinated counter offensive, or just avoided us entirely.

One guy, though. Ohhh, one guy.

He ran towards our spot and we popped him. Pretty soon, he came back again, cautiously this time. Looking for who could have done it. But he couldn't find us and ventured too far. We got him again. This time, due to proximity mic, we heard him exclaim: "THE ROCKETS ARE COMING OUTTA THE WALLS!"

I do hope at the end of the match, the losing team shouted out "Team Rocket's blasting off agaiiiiiiiin!"

OT: I'm not much of a multi-player person, but I was playing Portal 2 co-op with my friend the other week. You can do some of the best griefing in that game... there was a section where one person has to raise or lower platforms to guide the other person through a semi-maze, my friend was standing on one of the moving platforms and I stepped onto the raising button and about two seconds later he exploded and I burst out laughing because I wasn't expecting it.

Also overwriting portals so they fall off of light beams or out of the pushing stream thing into the bottomless pits below. :D

That's always darkly amusing to me, when you fight that sickly gazelle in a multiplayer game - that one guy that just can't figure out how to defend himself and runs into the same trap over and over again.

Also, I've just got to ask - what in the everlasting fuck is happening in your avatar?

My favorite recent multiplayer moment was in Team Fortress 2 on 2Fort. The usual push-pull over that middle bridge was going on, but something peculiar happened. Neither side had many snipers(which is perhaps the most unusual part of this story), so people in front of the parapets weren't getting picked off. I was blue, the other team was red. In front of the red parapets, on the other side of the bridge, was a heavy.

Just dancing around. Strafing left to right. I got up close and saw that he had on boxing gloves.

Then something beautiful happened. A blue heavy and medic team were rushing toward the other side, when our blue heavy just stopped. So suddenly that the medic passed him for a few seconds. Then the blue heavy pulled out his boxing gloves. Everything immediately went Mayweather vs. Ortiz.

I was a scout, and I just stood there watching. All the sudden, all other action ceased. A red soldier dropped down, ready to fight. Then he saw what was happening, and just watched. Same with all the people coming out of the blue side. and suddenly, both sides started leaking out boxing glove heavies. And everyone just boxed.

No words were spoken. A heavy spoke instead with his fists, and changed the entire conversation of that server.

This:

Basically people in that show have unique blood powers. That guy's is that his blood crystalizes as blades.

Moments like that are once in a lifetime.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.
Basic Wanted match, I was playing as the Blacksmith, who looks like this:
Anyway.
I'm going after some Doctor and I follow my radar all the way to a group of about five Doctors. I just take a guess and manage to get the right guy at which point I hear
"Wha- How did you- ForceTorno [my tag], you need to-"
And I'm expecting to hear fuck off or some degrading thing about my mother but instead I hear
"ForceTorno, you need to... SHAVE!"
And I just laughed and said
"Yeah, I guess I do. This beard is weighing me down."
That guy was pretty cool, Assassin's Creed has a pretty nice online community.
