I was at a diner with Neighbors yesterday, and my pager suddently rang. When I pull it out from my purse, somebody said : wow, thoses things still exist ?

I still have a pager because i work in an hospital, and those things have to ability to receive a signal even when you are surrended by concrete walls. But it's true that it's a technology that should have died with the cell phones.

So, I wonder, who else here use older technologies, things that people think that have disappear, but that you still use ?

I still use a "dumb" cell phone. Not quite as outdated as a pager, but still something that most people don't seem to use. I just do not see the point in a smartphone. I'm sure I'll get one eventually and then wonder how I ever lived without it, but for now I'm going to stubbornly refuse to upgrade!

I use a one of those cassette-to-mp3 player things because my car only has a cassette player.

I use a flip-phone because I only use my phone for the time and calling folks.

I use a PSP has my MP3 player because it was cheaper to get 62GB of memory for it than it was to get a ipod or whatever.

Me too, I sometimes think "I really should upgrade and join everyone else" but then I'll take a walk into a phone shop and have a look around at the phones on offer and just cannot find one that I like. So I stick with my old phone that I only use to text and phone people with anyway, I'll probably keep it until it breaks to be fair.

Record player - check. VHS video recorder - check. Calculator - check. Rotary dial landline phone - check. Landline - check. Tape player in car - check. Playstation 1, mouse and light gun - check. Board games, hardback books, artist sketch pads. For business I have a pen and paper and a business card that lists a fax number. Fax!? That is so 20 years ago.

I also use clothespins, but that's less by choice than because my apartment has no place to put a dryer.

I still use them too, despite living in Britain where good weather is about as rare as Sean Hannity letting someone finish a sentence! They're cheap, eco-friendly (well, more so than a dryer!) and don't need a fluff filter!

I still use my trusty Gillette Sensor razor despite the glut of newer, more precision razors out there with a million more blades. I only shave about once a week so to trade-up is pointless. I would like to use a good old-fashioned cut-throat razor but I am way to clumsy and cack-handed to be trusted with such a thing!

I wear a watch. They're obviously still common, but they're not as common. I remember being in school, being with kids who would compare "how glow in the dark" their watches are, and bragging about how many metres underwater they can potentially take them. Somehow, with clocks built into players and phones, I doubt people still have those discussions.

Hey, I use my DS with a R4 card for that.

To stay on topic: My mobile phone counts for one. I only need one to make calls and text messages with anyway. That it plays MP3's and has a camera is just an added bonus I like. Don't need one for social media and such things.

Despite being in my mid 30's I've never owned a cellphone (I wouldn't have a landline either if not for work).
I have no clue how to operate one even to just make a call.

I own a PC and game consoles but don't understand how to use any touch device (tablets and the like). Never used a laptop either but I understand they are basically PC's.

I've not yet moved beyond DVD technology.
I've never seen anything in 3-D since that fad/trend came back.

I haven't had cable/tv services for over a decade (though I understand this is becoming increasingly more common now).

Can't say I've ever personally had a 'those things exist' moment but if it does happen it'll be with my MP3 player. I still get a ton of use out of it when going on walks even though they have been obsolete for a while. The fact that it's concealed most of the time means that people probably just assume it's another device.

Besides my PC, the most ancient thing in my apartment is my Kenwood stereo system which has 2 casette tape slots, 3 slot cd tray which doesn't open anymore for some reasom and apparently it can even play dvd movies, i used it as my PC speakers for many years, but i retired it a week ago..

I still use a double edge safety razor (with old-school metal blades). Ironically, I bought it recently.

Never seemed to get a very close shave with the electrics. And using a quality manual razor costs anywhere from $20 - $30 a month for replacement blades.

The blades on a the safety razor last longer and are way cheaper.

I still got an SD TV (the big black box screen) when everyone else moved onto HD flatscreen tv!

In saying so however I only used it to played on my Wii which I stop a couple of years ago or watched a film on it since I want to check on my message on the pc when watching it.

Granted there has been a couple of times I could of bought a new TV like during Coment (a British eletronic store) closing down sales but since I don't give a danm about my tv, it competely flew over my head.

Well, I still have an old Motorola Razer as a backup cellphone. In my opinion, it's one of the best cellphones ever.

Not only do I love the feel of a flip phone, but it's just so freaking thin, and I can text at lightning speeds on a real number pad rather than a dinky little keyboard, or god forbid, a touchscreen keyboard.

If my current phone ever goes out for whatever reason (which considering the amount of time I've dropped it from varying heights and it survived, I might end up with this damn thing forever), I'll just slap in my SIM card into the Razer and go on my day.

I keep an SDTV around specifically for older consoles. I have two seperate setups in my room. One with my PC and my dual 27" and 32" HD monitors, and the other is a bulky 27" SDTV with my N64, PS2, and whatever else older console I plug into it. The way older games look on HDTV's makes me sick.
