While I haven't actually seen it (no time to watch TV) I have heard some very positive feedback about the Walking Dead.

Garth Merenghi's Darkplace

It's only 6 episodes long, which can help you avoid commitment anxiety, but it's absolutely hysterical.

Look it up online. I think all of the episodes are on youtube. Believe me you will not regret it.

EDIT: That or Futurama.

Or both. (Best way to go)

You have pretty great taste, but I sense a startling Star Trek lacking-ness...
yeah the only star trek ive watched is that latest movie and i think a movie or episode where they travel back intime to when the first human makes a light speed ship or something
The new movie and enterprise? Then you haven't watched star trek... Correct that as soon as possible!!

Misfits.
It's a British show about juvenile delinquents in a London where half the population have just come into super powers.

I think Skins is amazing, but I know not everyone agrees.
You get Misfits in the USA? That's suprising, and yeah it is amazing, I prefer it to skins but they're both good.

I still like Enterprise but I agree completely, TNG, DS9, TOS and Voyager (in that order) are where it's at.

Ahh, the other English speaking country :L

Has the second series reached your shores as well yet?

She's pretty self-centred (and not in a way that's fun to watch) and seems like a bit of a 1-hit wonder.

I mean, what else does she do apart from cry or whine about Emily?
Laugh with & love Emily, fend off that teacher who falls for her, the thing with Cook?
That's about 20 minutes worth of television out of 16 hours of the show. I don't think the others faired much better out of it (apart from Cook, they obviously knew they were on to something with him). Still, she's pretty fit, so I guess it wasn't all bad.

So i know this topic comes up abit but can you suggest me some TV series to watch.

I like different genres sci fi comedy action etc etc

Some of my favourite series so you can get an idea
battle star galatica
stargate
firefly
dexter
arrested development
breaking bad
doctor who
true blood
house
psych
life on mars
burn notice
Being human I'm a huge fan of.
Pushing Daisies (didn't last long)
Kyle XY (also didn't last long)
Madmen
Cromartie High (anime, but so messed up retarded and funny you barely notice)
High School of the Dead? Dead Rising meets anime)
Dune miniseries with William Hurt I also thought was quite well done in regards to the story of the books. Not so much the cgi or fight scenes. still imo worth a look.
That's all i can really think of at the moment that hasn't already been said.

Have you tried reading a book? I've just started on the discworld series, and I have a bad feeling about where most of my money is going to go.
My money was spent on that series long ago lol. You will not be disappointed.

I really wish I had time to re-read the whole collection.

Although I am yet to read my recently acquired copy of Unseen Academicals so I'll content myself with that.

As an aside: Did I mention that Monkey Dust is incredible and available on Youtube!?!?

And I remember someone mentioning Garth Merenghi's Dark Place.... That is also incredible.

First, hooray for True Blood. Anyone else reading this, I know it looks like softcore vampire porn, and while there is a lot of that it's also a pretty good plot, and some awesome characters. So yeah, check it out.
On to recommendations. Supernatural, definitely Supernatural. Amazing show, even if it gets annoyingly whiny late 4th season/early 5th season. Weather that rough patch and it gets back on track.
For comedies, Scrubs and How I Met Your Mother. Not everyone likes this, but I love The Office. It's a weird brand of humour, but I think it's good, you might too.
Have you not watched Buffy? Cause I actually really like that show, and you've watched Firefly...
Oh, and Family Guy, American Dad and Futurama are always fun.
EDIT:One more thing ooccured to me.
Dead Like Me. Dark comedy, girl gets hit by a toilet from a space station, dies and becomes a reaper. It's actually quite funny, I've only seen a few episodes though....

Scrubs
Two and a half men ( I KNOW I'm A loser for loveing that show)
Still, I highly recomend Lie To Me to anyone who likes House.
I will admit I have been watching Two And A Half Men lately (it's on right after Family Guy so yeah) and I've been enjoying it...
But anyway, Lie To Me? I do love me some House, so colour me intrigued. Care to elaborate or anything?

BrassEye. May not be your thing depending on how twisted your sense of humour is but for me, it's incredible.

It's basically a really dark satirical "documentary" series that offended a shit load of British people in the 90s. The same people did a surreal news show too (that isn't quite as offensive) but I can't remember what it's called...

Going back to offensive British satire, Monkey Dust was fucking amazing. The whole two series' can be found on Youtube. Each episode is half an hour of dark, twisted, cartoon goodness. And it's free on Youtube.
Totally agree, Brass Eye is amazing and so is Monkeydust. The Day Today was also kind of like a less edgy version of Brass Eye but almost as good plus it had Alan Partridge!

Not really. But I'd recommend TNG, DS9, VOY, TOS, ENT to a newbie.

Ah well.

Do think it's time to end the show though.
Oh right, then I assume you also got the second series through the internet as well.

They just need some competent writers.

It's all well and good employing fresh actors and writers, but they need to actually be good at acting and writing - there seems to always be one whose acted before as well (Nicholas Hoult as Tony, guy who plays Cook) who stands out as the best, although it was less obvious in the first generation.

Chuck is a great show, as is Castle. Both are fun, somewhat light hearted dramadies with actors who were in Firefly (Adam Baldwin and Nathan Fillion respectively.)
