Ok so I'm new.

Hey guys, I'm sort of new to the escapist, I've been watching ZP for a few months now but the only time I comment is when I see a fun thread on the front page.

So, what are the rules?

I'm very used to gametrailers, which is famous for fanboys, beating up fanboys (I was part of this faction), and tomfoolery. So, if I were to make a thread that said "just a small town girl". Is this the type of site that responds "livin in a lonely world" or the type that says "stop trolling, idiot." ???

The reason I like this site so far is because when I'm quoted I get notified which is useful.

Basically, don't do what you would normally do on Gametrailers.

I've found most of the stuff I need to prevent myself from looking like an ass.

Second, there're a few stickied pages of Escapist etiquette that you could read if you have the time, but from what I've seen, if you were to start quoting Journey, you'd get more responses from your designate Column B than A. Sarcasm runs rampant here: if you post a topic like "What's your favorite game?" that's been done to death on every forum known to man, you'll get more than a few answers that say "the Search Bar".

The Escapist is generally a lot more tolerant and intelligent than other forums I've been on. That means that sarcasm runs rampant: if you post a topic like "What's your favorite game?" that's been done to death on every forum known to man, you'll get more than a few answers that say "the Search Bar". But you get a lot of "benefit-of-the-doubt" here, which is more than I can say for most sites.

When i was new i just hid in the brush until i knew what the F was going on. Best way really. And i was lucky enough to stumble across a troll slaying on my first day. Taught me a lot about what works here and what kind of behavior is unacceptable. like this.

So...
You ask us a question, people answer honestly, and then you get mad about it? People probably wouldn't call you a troll if you had made such a thread, but since you gave them only two options, well...
Really, people wouldn't like that sort of thread because it doesn't promote a discussion. And that's what the Escapist is about: talking it out with a bunch of geeks. The general notion is that if you want to chat, you do it on the Escapist IRC, where you would get more playful reactions to the "Small town girl" thing.
I guess that wasn't entirely clear, and I hope you won't take the others' eagerness to use the word, "Troll" too personally, they just like the word.
