Wow. I have only just got into game mods, now owning half life 2 and half life 1 games for a while.

Why did i not get into game mods sooner? They are GREAT.

I mean...I had none 3 days ago, now i have like 5 half life 2 mods. And I love every one.

What do you guys think of mods? Do you bother? Or do you just not know how?

They can be really fun most multiplayer mods are not played by many anymore. This shows that if you give people simple tools to create mods they will make many. An most of them are really good.

I mess around with mods after I've gotten the full experience of the base game. There are indeed some good mods, but a ton of them are garbage.

I like mods that are meant to enhance the way a game plays. However, I do hate mods for multiplayer games such as TF2 that sometimes make the game pretty bad to play.
*I'm looking at you, diceroll mod!*

I was expecting great things from the mod tool of Red Faction: Guerilla but I've not heard of anything come from that community.

I don't really play with mods that often because my PC's too slow and old to handle most modern games, but I've got Garry's Mod and that's a helluva lot of fun to screw around in. The same goes for that source-based zombie mod.

Dude, I love that mod! You are talking about the one where those four random people try to survive those zombies right? If not, then I guess you would be talking about L4D.... oh wait...

I agree totally here. I mean, i at the moment am only playing mods of the games i have completed: half life, half life 2 and episode 1, and portal.

But i will soon complete episode 2 and mod it

And, forgot to mention. I don't nescesarily mean a modification of the game...it could be a new game made of the same code, like research and development mod for half life 2. You know...anything that comes undeer the word mod

Haha, I can't remember how many survivors there were - I think it was called Zombie Panic! (exclamation point necessary).

Y'know, I liked the diceroll mod. Well, I didn't realy like[i/] it... They're servers aren't that bad. I never roll the dice anyway.

I just don't like diceroll because you have players with superspeed or instant kills. Also, it seems that everytime I roll, I get 10 second Kamikaze. 10 Second Kamikaze is not fun. Ever.

Zombie Panic Source :)
uuummm....your post didn't make a whole lot of sense. A simple way of adding a mod:

Have a modd-able game on steam, like half life 2 (there are loads of mods for it and the episodes)

Download the mod files. Either run provided installer, or simply copy the folder into c:\programfiles\steam\steamapps\sourcemods

Either that, or have any game. And copy the mod folder into it's directory

It's also fun to mod Gmod. there's a ton of good weapons, maps, etc. that you can put in there.

For example, I have a weapon that has Billy Mays saying 'Get on the ball!' If you hit someone with it, it crashes their computer. I'm sure that's a glitch, but it's so much more fun than kicking people from the server.

EDIT: How did I manage to mix up there and their?! I haven't done that in forever!

zombie panic! is like an earlier version of L4D, and it is on steam. It requires half life 2

I appear to be too thick to have mods.

I've tried to mod Oblivion on several occasions but I just can't seem to make a difference to it no matter WHERE I jam those pesky files!

Well, actually, after about 4 supposedly gameplay changing mods, I have noticed that my HUD has changed slightly...

oh I never mess around with Mods. So this stuff never really bothers me.

I'm sure there is a reason for all of this though
