Well. both series are mainly from the 80s and 90s. But Kings Quest has had some newer ones released since then and I want to say a remaster here or there. Both of them are from Sierra online. I guess it could also be the original Goblins, but those are the main point and clicks I know of with actually character death for trying out things. I'll bet there are more European ones, but not many point and clicks really like to punish the player for trying out things, Kings Quest is the main one I know if with that same with Goblins. The first Goblins game where you had 3 characters you swapped between, the other ones didn't punish you for trying things out like that.
it's king quest 6
these are the dog faces guards i spoke about! yes it is!

i just now remembered another game ..
all i recall is seeing its trailer.. not even gameplay
the game was released between 2010 ~ 2020
PC game, you play first person view, it's a puzzle game
you create triangle shaped platforms by drawing them with your mouse, you need to discover the secret of some kind of temple, and .. i recall seeing lots of foxes ..
fox statues. that's all i recall.
you move within what looks like a mountain temple dungeon, you use the mouse to draw on the screen the 3D triangle platforms, and you use them to jump over obstacles and reach your goal
i recall recall anything else.. but i do recall enjoying the trailer! ..
any idea?

i recall playing a game ..
the main character is your average guy named Crow he moves into a new city early on
your goal is to get a job, meet one of the city's beauties and marry her
from what i recall you could date a robot girl, a witch girl with short hair, a ghost girl, a shrine maiden, an armor shop caretaker.. and it's even possible to date the are taker of the house you stay at.
the maps look RPG maker style, every now and then based on the job you take a little mini scene would play, it's kind of a dating sim game..
i just can't recall its name.. basically the main goal is for you to play through all the girls' routes and unlock as many CGs as possible.

any idea?

a rather recent game i found on a "forum" where you play as the "final boss / bad guy"
all i can recall is the following ..
multiple people were kidnapped, everyone is wearing a mask?? with a number, i think.
your character also wears a mask, i think .. no really sure.
your ARE the kidnapper and you CAN check on everyone's psychological state, the game is simple! the must find keys to escape, and you must drive everyone to kill each other before they escape.
you can deceive everyone and convince them to betray each other.
can't remember anything else.

i recall playing a "robocop" game on windows xp where everything is literally in black and white, your enemies were all black humanoid shadows
there were 3 levels, one of them you take an elevator, and then die to enemies throwing explosives at you .. because the rendering was so laggy that robocop moved forward 1 frame per MINUTE! the other level was about "pointing" at a jumping shadow like enemy. until you are defeated ..
and the only thing i can recall is .. you can never win either level .. because i had no idea how to play, let alone being able to play with 1 frame per minute!
still .. i'd like to recall its name!

Not that many Robocop games, is it this one?

the game was EXCLUSIVELY in black and white, all other surfaces were in BOLD black lines and everything was literally WHITE!
robocop's hands were more like a comic book graphics style, not 3D, the environment was 3D! but the enemies "shadows" that jumped at you were more like 2D sprites.
in order for you to progress you HAD TO PRESS AND HOLD the arrow keys as robocop literally walked 1 FRAME PER MINUTE!
you walked forward, entered an elevator, pressed a button, and spun around yourself, left the elevator, and instantly got bombarded with enemy "shadows" throwing bombs at you.. and then got a gameover you died screen, within 30 REAL LIFE MINUTES! EVERYTHING WAS BLACK AND WHITE
upon death the game shows a quick comic book like "visual novel" style news report about robocop's death
robocop was a FPS character and all your enemies were 2D spites, the environment was like doom's 3D environment with 2D icons and whatnot.

That's probably the 1993 DOS/Amiga/Atari ST game RobooCop 3 developed by Digital Image Design Ltd. The first level/area seems to be driving around, but the first person shooter levels closely match your description.

Hi all

Not sure if I will be able to describe the game well enough, but if memory serves it is a PC rpg game (worst case could have been a PS2) and it was similar to Baldur's Gate (but not BG) and in the character selection screen, I faintly remember you would choose a class of sorts - but it was then you had to choose an element or affiliation and the selection was a ring/circle of people (perhaps like gods or deities) and one was a Circe like woman (could actually have been named Circe) who was connected to nature/elements and her area of the circle was green. The screen was overhead as you were choosing amongst the circle.

It would have been mid-late 90s or very early 00s.

Sorry not much help otherwise!
Hoping I can strike lucky a few years later on this one.

Have checked several options and not the baldur's gate games, or champions of norrath but similar vibes from memory.

I just distinctly remember a circular structure with Gods or something you had to choose to align with and they represented elements. It would have been between the late 90s to very early 00s on either PC or PS2

Could that have been Titan Quest? The selection of a mastery (screenshot here) looks a bit like your description of selecting elements.

Sadly not - but thanks for trying!

The character was in a circular outdoor area with each of the 'gods' or entities and you had to select one you aligned with. I recall it being a PC game and would have to have been very late 90s or early 00s because it was a game my brother had that I played a few times - but not cancelling out PS2 just in case my memory is hazier than I thought! I feel like I'll never get it haha!

Hrmm, that kinda makes it sound like Sacrifice.

I have one for you.

It was a Warhammer 40K game.
You played as an inquisitor but it wasn't the inquisitor martyr.
It was closer in style to the sort of telltale games.

Eisenhorn: Xenos is the only other game I know of where you play as an Inquisitor, but afaik it's not Telltale style at all

Ah yeh that's the one. I thought it was telltale like because TB in his video about the game suggested they should have made it more like one and I only remembered the vague game and the phrase "Like a telltale game" instead of "They could have made it like a telltale game instead"

Never played myself. Just a dim recollection they once made 3rd person action a game based on the Eisenhorn books, who is an inquisitor. Also that it's kinda shit. Then again, it was from that era when GW let anyone have a crack at the license. Got removed from Steam apparently.

Omg.

I forgot the name of it, but there is this one arcade game that came out recently where it's a 1v1 shmup game with supers and transformations for each character ship. I played this a couple months back, but the name escapes me.

Shit was insane. You or your opponent could transform into a final stage shmup boss after filling up your gauge, and if you beat the foe in that form you basically get the opponent at "checkmate."

Played it @ Round1. Gotta go back sometime and replay it.

There are a few like that, the main one that comes to mind for me is Maiden and Spell, but I dont think this is it.

It could be Rival Megagun, I haven't played it yet so I don't know if its got the transformation thing.
