Aren't most of Haunter(and other ghost Pokemon)'s Pokedex entries about the various ways it kills? Not to mention that it's a ghost... my machete would be useless, and they can usually turn invisible as well....
I'm trying to think of how I could freeze, burn, electrocute, or bean it with a heavy rock, and nothing is coming to mind.
