Okay, so, I was debating whether or not I should make one of these threads and I have decided to be insanely lame and go for it.

[HEADING=1]Woo, 10,000 posts![/HEADING]

It only took me five bloody years.

I realise that these threads have induced eye-rolls from the masses for years now but I only had around 2,000 posts when it was considered acceptable to do it. I feel like I've missed my chance so fuck you guys, I'm doing it now. Feel free to jeer at me and chuck things at my head, I deserve it.

Anyway, now that I've patted myself on the back for wasting an insane amount of time on these forums, some discussion value!

My original plan was to make some legitimate discussion value on being late to the party but I decided to eschew these plans with a firm hand and instead attempt to create a circle-jerk.

So, amidst the cray-cray amount of SJW threads, I think people should try to gush about this site a little. As much as I complain, I have visited these forums daily for close to half a decade (holy balls that's depressing) so there are things, great things, that keep me coming back.

To be honest, what keeps me coming back are the people. The forums can be a bit of a cesspool but I love seeing familiar faces, it really is my home on the Internet. I love the user groups I've nestled in and I could start listing people that I adore on this site but I'd be here all day. I even love reading the posts of the users I dislike, if only out of morbid fascination. I have to say, after going to Escapism and meeting some of the users here, I love it all the more.

Anyway, what keeps you guys coming back?
Content?
Moderation discussions?
Habit?
Topless women?
Masochism?
Or is it the fabulous people on our lovely, if a little unstable, forums? Feel free to name names or point accusatory fingers.

Anyway, enough said, you can just yell at me for being a dick-head if you like, it was totally worth it. :D

Awww, look at you with your 10,000 posts.

*pinches cheeks*

Who's adawable, is it you? Yes it is!

OT: Roleplaying, baby, it's the Dandy way. As well as a lot of people I actually like. Offtopic, as you said, its pretty much a cesspit most of the time.

I'm only here for the free food!

OT: For the few groups I post in because I lost interest in the forums long ago. Being here 6 years and having to repeat yourself will do that to you! :D

The content too, I still find amusement in that although I think the comment section is on par with the YouTube comment section :/

Ah, I always like these sorts of threads, to break it down simply:

[li]There's a good variety of conversation here compared to other forums I've been on, even when certain topics are done to death it's easy enough to ignore those threads[/li]
[li]The strict moderation keeps the forums from being full of flaming and irrelevant noise, well maybe not always the second one...[/li]
[li]Light-hearted usergroups like the Injustice League etc[/li]
[li]The Role-Playing forum, keeps me anchored to the site really[/li]

Probably a few other things but those are most important. Congrats anyhow, your next target is to try to overtake my post count ;-)

I come here to allow you all to appreciate my great fucking avatars.

Seriously though, I stay here because of the friends I've made in usergroups, and most of the discussions that aren't massive flamewars.

Also, the moderation. I've given up with many a forum because the moderations is either far too loose or far too strict.

It's a pretty well-kept house, to be honest. The rules make sense and there's always somewhere you can go for a lighthearted conversation with good people. A lot of the writing, particularly in the RP forum, is pretty compelling as well. For all the complaints that you hear, I'd say there's just about something here for everyone.

Everything's pretty good.

I mostly come for the flame wars, snide comments and sarcasm. The forums are where I find out about all the films, tv and books and shizzle, so I'm happy when a "recommendation" thread pops up. I could live without the anime threads.

The hope that one day, Daystar-Senpai will notice me.

That and the fact I don't have the urge to punch all of you in the face if we ever met. Only some of you.
Plus I guess force of habit. :/

First Daystar cheats on me with some Irish soft drink, and now you're disrespecting my fine avatars. This has not been a good couple of days for Shandy-kun.

Fuck it, I'm going to bed.

[sub][sub]I also stay here for this silly shit[/sub][/sub]

I lost interest around 400 post into my first foray of the escapist. I not came back when I discovered the forum games section. Which helped my post count immensely. When I hit 1000, I jumped to pubclub forums. Leading me to user groups, which I now stick to mostly. So forum games and user games.

Seeing some of these posters here brings me back to the good times. When daystar, sassafras, and many others posted regularly. When the forums were filled with light and joy. Not depression and darkness.

Where else would I spend all of my free time? Reddit? Tumblr?

I THINK NOT!

Besides, I wouldn't have all of you horrible wonderful people to talk to on a regular basis :3

I stick around because I like talking about games in an environment where some modicum of good manners is enforced.

Also because, believe it or not, I'm actually just a little bit fond of some of you crazy sods.

Granted, the current Sarkesian/SJW/gender... thing has gotten rather tiresome. But hey, I weathered the fake geek girls drama, the ME3 ending fallout, the death of PC gaming and more besides. This too shall pass.

Maybe I should look into these mysterious 'user group' things. Which are the good ones?

I get to talk about games, something I can't do in real life because gaming isn't much of a culture where I live.

I'm here because I've made a bunch of friends on this site that I can talk to about all my nerdy interests, something I can't do very much of IRL (I'm by far the biggest geek in my circles). The user groups I frequent are great places for that, you guys rock.

I've also really gotten into roleplaying and creative writing this year, so I stick around for that forum too. The Forum Games are great fun also, although I don't post there often enough.

The whole SJW/Sarkeesian/gender threads that clutter Off-topic and Gaming Discussion have killed my interest in those forums mostly, although I do still post there occasionally. There's the occasional fun thread and sometimes there's even enlightening and enjoyable conversations!

It's me you're fond of, isn't it?
Don't worry, I won't tell anyone. :p

Anyway, the ones I use the most are The Brovengers and Lady Bits, don't let the name fool you, it's mostly dudes.
Both of those groups kind of just discuss general shite, so it's easy to jump in and out of conversations, so I'd recommend those. There're so many though, you might have to jump around a bit before you find one that fits. I used to frequent a few more but they die when users leave or get banned and all that jazz.

Sure, why not? :p
Moderation discussions?
Maybe... *shifty eyes* Just, don't ask me to take a survey regarding said moderation, okay? (I suck at survey taking... Just ask my first employer?)
"It is NOW!" said me a few years ago prior to lurking the forums...
Topless women?
I thought everyone was topless... :(
Masochism?
Only when I lurk those-threads-that-must-not-be-named...
Or is it the fabulous people on our lovely, if a little unstable, forums? Feel free to name names or point accusatory fingers.
The list of names I've accumulated over the past year is too damn high! AND I FUCKING LOVE IT!!!

But, in all honesty, I keep coming back because I'm always in the middle of the possibility of being murdered in a forum game and I don't want to miss it... And, while I wait, I take the time to lurk and post on stuff that I like because I can... Sometimes, I like how the post turns out... Other times I wished it had more haikus...

Also, I have no
Idea where I'm going
With this, so there's that...

Well fuck, you people are the only geeks I know -- What else I'm I gonna do? Discuss the intricacies of NGE or Berserk to my wall?

[sub]Not that I ever really did that or anything. *ahem*[/sub]

Also, congrats on your 10.000 'questionable occupation' points. :p

Congratulations, pretty lady! Your posts are always a pleasure and out of everyone at Escapism UK you were far and away the best librarian!

I like Yahtzee and Movie Bob's stuff and the forums are a nice place to discuss games and stuff with like minded souls whilst being protected from randoms posting pictures of elderly gentlemen felating one another.

Also making jokes and needling people over stuff like misquoting their prestige class as a pedestrian starting class. For teh lulz and such.
