I haven't [played BC2 yet, but i think i would like the multiplayer more as long as there's some teamwork involved. coordinating the infantry with vehicles could be fun

Compared to other games, it is more realistic. If I wanted 100% realistic, I would play America's Army. Or paintball/airsoft.

Still, you want realism in BC2? Play HARDCORE. Where snipers kill in one shot, and tanks smash your whole team with a single round. Challenging? Sure, if there was a limit for snipers on servers. Right now the teams just pick 12 or so Recons...

Besides, it's actually more rewarding to do it the normal way. Like I got a kill streak of 8 yesterday, by an accident. A tank with several people was rushing our point, someone used an RPG on the tank, then I hit it in the side. Two people dead + the engineer fixing the tan. Then I uzi'd the guy with the RPG before he blasted me, grenade into the building's window, another 2 dead. Then I stabbed guy who tried to kill my medic, and finally guy who was trying to set up the charge.

Where would be the fun if I could just one-shot them all in 5 seconds?
America's Army sadly still holds the 'every type of wall stops bullets....ALWAYS' design, I guess it boils down to how realistic you actually want a game to be, for example I still say Arma with ACE is near the pinnacle of how a realistic FPS should be, where not just large caliber rounds can kill with one hit, but smaller ones too depending on the hit box the round lands on and depending on the range between the shooter and the target; its funny to see people get mad when you kill them at 30 meters with a M9.

Ive tried hardcore mode, for both games, and neither satisfy me.

to put it into perspective, a grenade in both MW2 and BC2 would 'probably' kill two or three people who are standing on it [I have yet to find grenades in either game useful, save for the 40mm in BC2, I call it the insta-door], while ACE'd Arma, a grenade could kill someone within the actual kill radius of 5m while injuring anyone around it in a 15m radius, and ACE is a game where being injured can turn a mission going smoothly into a nightmare [e.g. constant blood loss, reduced aiming accuracy, reduced run/walk speed, black-outs]

not only that, but standing in-front of a tank, friendly or otherwise, could injure you if it fires the main cannon.

a lot of people claim how realistic MW2 and BC2 seem to be with how the firearms work, they have never played a real realism game.
So all the reality junkies have to wait for is a game that combines both realism of ACE with the smoothness of BFBC2's environment destruction to make the perfect war game.

No offense, but I don't agree with a word you said. These 2 games never intended to be competitors in single player mode anyway. SP is just a bonus in Battlefield game. It's the multiplayer that matters. And they do compete because they are different. People may be bored of all the camping and air strikes, matchmaking and small maps and extremely limited amount of players. All of those combined made me hate the game with passion. Sure the campaign is awesome, but the game isn't worth $60 just for that. Air strikes and 18 players max ruin the good FPS experience. I still think the pinnacle of CoD MP is CoD2. Battlefield offers something unique that every true gamer will appreciate more then what MW2 has to offer. Huge maps, more players, vehicles, no pointless air strikes, and not to mention dedicated servers on PC version.

"If Modern Warfare 2 is the roller-coaster of first-person shooters, then Bad Company 2 is the bumper cars: You may never have the breath sucked right out of your chest"

I never got this from MW2, not once did i feel it was unbelievebly epic, it was just all standard scripted events similar to things ive seen before. All thi game did in single player was last for 5 hours and give me a headache.

Multiplayer wise, sure it was fun but not epic and totally predictable, whoever shoots first wins, and campers everywhere.

Bad Company 2 working in a squad nothing beats an epic defense on Rush when your totally up against it.

BC2 is just a more well thought out game, and i think DICE achieved what they set out to do create a game with epic multiplayer where its like real war, frantic and chaotic. IW werent going for this but im not sure what they were going for, realsim?? certainly not that. Not with all the silly perks with people running around with marathon and lightweight perks, just stupid.

For the record, I wholeheartedly endorse Bad company 2 over MW2.
I would also - if the server browser worked - or at least displayed pings, if I could get into a game in under 10 mins, if I could get into a server with less than 300 ping, or if the 'play now' function would pick a) a populated server and/or b) a sever with playable ping.

Until it can offer me ANY of those things, I can't endorse BC2 :'(
Are you playing on the PC or some console?

I'm playing on the PC and I havn't really had any mayor problems with it except for a couple of times when I picked "Play now" instead ot the Server Browser and got killed by lag.

I basically always use Play Now and it finds me decent servers.

PC, Windows 7. I'm not sure what the issue is (or whether it was resolved in the last couple of days), but I've been having horrendous problems finding a game. It would be ok if the server browser gave me some indication of pings, but waiting 5 mins for it to give me a list with 10 '999' ping servers and a whole load of '-' ping servers, all apparently almost full, but in reality almost all either actually full or simply non-responsive.

Fixes online suggest that 'running as admin' would solve my browser problems, but I've had no luck with that. Guess I've got to wait and hope it gets patched or something...

I only wish I had your luck :'( The last two times I did that I got a 400 ping server (why? WHY?!) and a 220 ping server. with 4 people on it. Why it thought I'd be interested in either game is beyond me, and one more reason to NEVER buy a game where this system is the only way to get into a game (DoW2 and MW2,I'm looking at you here).

Well, Lady GaGa started off with classical then moved on to create her own music. So maybe Mr. Deam is saying he's converted from MW2 to BC2? From something creatively constricting yet beautiful to something, ah, JAZZY.

Good points all around. Different strokes for different folks.

Of course, this whole discussion will be rendered moot next year when we're all playing "Pseudo-realisic war shooter 7" and "Alternate to previous game 6".

So Bad Company 2 lets you play your own game, with your own ideas of achieving your goals, but Mewtwo tells you how to play?

Sounds pretty simple to me.

Emotional intensity versus spontaneity, developer intent versus player agency - there's no winner in these "conflicts," no matter what EA's marketing department or Activision's SEC filings tell you. In fact, they're not battles at all, but rather questions. Should storytelling come at the expense of gameplay? Should players be allowed to make choices that go against the developers' wishes? How much of the responsibility for "fun" lies in the hands of the developers, and how much at the feet of players?

Ooh. Now that gives me an idea.

^ What the picture says.

Seriously, let's experiment with other combinations. I bet it'd work out really, really well!

Edit: Also, upon consideration, the lower left quadrant of the square could possibly house something like Prototype. I think that'd fit there...?
Look up a game called Brink being developed by Bethesda.
while i have played (sparingly) both MW2 and BC2 i could not maintain my enthusiasm. fortunately i have the appropriate answer at hand in Project Reality http://www.realitymod.com/about.html

i am simply unable to find a comparable game and for all the sparkles and shine on the clones i choose gameplay..

"If Modern Warfare 2 is like classical music, and Bad Company 2 is like jazz, then Jordan Deam is like Lady Gaga. Think about it."
if this analogy is correct then Project Reality is METALLICA...

Does that mean Jordan Deam sucks?

EDIT:: Just realised who I was talking about. Please don't ban me.
