So all the reality junkies have to wait for is a game that combines both realism of ACE with the smoothness of BFBC2's environment destruction to make the perfect war game.Kalezian said:America's Army sadly still holds the 'every type of wall stops bullets....ALWAYS' design, I guess it boils down to how realistic you actually want a game to be, for example I still say Arma with ACE is near the pinnacle of how a realistic FPS should be, where not just large caliber rounds can kill with one hit, but smaller ones too depending on the hit box the round lands on and depending on the range between the shooter and the target; its funny to see people get mad when you kill them at 30 meters with a M9.Abedeus said:Compared to other games, it is more realistic. If I wanted 100% realistic, I would play America's Army. Or paintball/airsoft.Kalezian said:snip
Still, you want realism in BC2? Play HARDCORE. Where snipers kill in one shot, and tanks smash your whole team with a single round. Challenging? Sure, if there was a limit for snipers on servers. Right now the teams just pick 12 or so Recons...
Besides, it's actually more rewarding to do it the normal way. Like I got a kill streak of 8 yesterday, by an accident. A tank with several people was rushing our point, someone used an RPG on the tank, then I hit it in the side. Two people dead + the engineer fixing the tan. Then I uzi'd the guy with the RPG before he blasted me, grenade into the building's window, another 2 dead. Then I stabbed guy who tried to kill my medic, and finally guy who was trying to set up the charge.
Where would be the fun if I could just one-shot them all in 5 seconds?
Ive tried hardcore mode, for both games, and neither satisfy me.
to put it into perspective, a grenade in both MW2 and BC2 would 'probably' kill two or three people who are standing on it [I have yet to find grenades in either game useful, save for the 40mm in BC2, I call it the insta-door], while ACE'd Arma, a grenade could kill someone within the actual kill radius of 5m while injuring anyone around it in a 15m radius, and ACE is a game where being injured can turn a mission going smoothly into a nightmare [e.g. constant blood loss, reduced aiming accuracy, reduced run/walk speed, black-outs]
not only that, but standing in-front of a tank, friendly or otherwise, could injure you if it fires the main cannon.
a lot of people claim how realistic MW2 and BC2 seem to be with how the firearms work, they have never played a real realism game.

Until it can offer me ANY of those things, I can't endorse BC2 :'(
I basically always use Play Now and it finds me decent servers.ThePirateMan said:Are you playing on the PC or some console?Wicky_42 said:I would also - if the server browser worked - or at least displayed pings, if I could get into a game in under 10 mins, if I could get into a server with less than 300 ping, or if the 'play now' function would pick a) a populated server and/or b) a sever with playable ping.HT_Black said:For the record, I wholeheartedly endorse Bad company 2 over MW2.

I'm playing on the PC and I havn't really had any mayor problems with it except for a couple of times when I picked "Play now" instead ot the Server Browser and got killed by lag.
PC, Windows 7. I'm not sure what the issue is (or whether it was resolved in the last couple of days), but I've been having horrendous problems finding a game. It would be ok if the server browser gave me some indication of pings, but waiting 5 mins for it to give me a list with 10 '999' ping servers and a whole load of '-' ping servers, all apparently almost full, but in reality almost all either actually full or simply non-responsive.ThePirateMan said:Are you playing on the PC or some console?Wicky_42 said:I would also - if the server browser worked - or at least displayed pings, if I could get into a game in under 10 mins, if I could get into a server with less than 300 ping, or if the 'play now' function would pick a) a populated server and/or b) a sever with playable ping.HT_Black said:For the record, I wholeheartedly endorse Bad company 2 over MW2.

I only wish I had your luck :'( The last two times I did that I got a 400 ping server (why? WHY?!) and a 220 ping server. with 4 people on it. Why it thought I'd be interested in either game is beyond me, and one more reason to NEVER buy a game where this system is the only way to get into a game (DoW2 and MW2,I'm looking at you here).Abedeus said:I basically always use Play Now and it finds me decent servers.
while i have played (sparingly) both MW2 and BC2 i could not maintain my enthusiasm. fortunately i have the appropriate answer at hand in Project Reality http://www.realitymod.com/about.htmlWandrecanada said:Look up a game called Brink being developed by Bethesda.Fenixius said:Ooh. Emotional intensity versus spontaneity, developer intent versus player agency - there's no winner in these "conflicts," no matter what EA's marketing department or Activision's SEC filings tell you. In fact, they're not battles at all, but rather questions. Should storytelling come at the expense of gameplay? Should players be allowed to make choices that go against the developers' wishes? How much of the responsibility for "fun" lies in the hands of the developers, and how much at the feet of players?

Seriously, let's experiment with other combinations. I bet it'd work out really, really well!
Edit: Also, upon consideration, the lower left quadrant of the square could possibly house something like Prototype. I think that'd fit there...?
Does that mean Jordan Deam sucks?anglomanii said:"If Modern Warfare 2 is like classical music, and Bad Company 2 is like jazz, then Jordan Deam is like Lady Gaga. Think about it."
if this analogy is correct then Project Reality is METALLICA...
