The nice guy act works to an extent.
You might have the attention of the girl you like but that doesn't mean she's gonna make the move, somewhere deep in the subconscious of everyones mind there is that one guy yelling, GUYS HAVE TO MAKE THE FIRST MOVE.
Also if you don't have the attention of the person you like, just introduce yourself. If the person you like then acts like a jerk to you by ignoring you, you'll know she/he isn't someone to be liked and they don't deserve your affection.

And as a side note, if any girls are reading this, do the rest of the world a favour and tell your friends to make the first move on guys they like

I met my husband in Everquest. We were guild mates and friends for over a year before he admitted he had feelings for me. We met IRL, things clicked, and we've been together for over 5 years now. And have two beautiful girls.

Sorry to hear of your predicament, however if she's in love with you then she should make her own choices (tho depends on the country she lives in unfortuently).

Indeed. I wouldn't say I've truly fallen in love, but I've met some very lovely people online - more so than offline, for that matter.

I think there has to be a lot more trust in an online relationship, though. A lot more, and as such they can be a little draining.
