I'm much nicer online, and I get the feeling people attribute more emotion to my posts than I do.
So...basically, I am like a robot who constantly makes fun of you in meatspace.
So just picture any advanced AI in pretty much any game/movie and you got it.
AHA!! you almost discouraged me away from Portal as Glados, you fooled me into killing most of the capital wasteland as Eden; but you wont get away this time *charges E.M.P launcher*

I'm a little more condescending and shy in person, I seem smarter because I'm not in the relative vicinity of superior minds also I lied about my army of robot monkeys.........................it's merely a army of robots................................I'm sorry for deceiving you all as I no doubt did
Actually, I was thinking a little more whacky-robot sidekick who hates humans.
Think Bender.
well I'm still charging, you stole my right kidney 1981 years from now remember?

Naaw...
Well that just ruined any illusions of greatness anyone attributed to you.
And explains how you can have so many posts: YOU ARE A BOT!!!!

I seem to be more vocal online, whereas out in that depressing hell known as real life I'm usually kinda quiet unless I'm with some friends.

Hate to contradict your theory, but in my case, at least, what you read is pretty much what you get in real life. I'm a big doofus. I used to be more shy about my nerdiness in real life, but I got over it.

Probably the only change is that I'm a lot more angry when gaming. If somebody does something stupid I will yell at them and berate them just for the laughs.
Same, think games are where I let off steam. Get my anger and frustrations out while running around on FPS' etc. In person, I'm very calm and friendly, in game I'm the total opposite.
Playing FPS' and taking down fools in the office too huh Tripple T?

I am much chattier online.
Personality wise, I just keep things light most of the time.
It's much more fun that way, and I get to babble with more people.
Which is awesome.

Roughly the same.

I would note that I tend to argue more on here, mainly because there's not much of a chance some angry bloke's fist can pop through my computer screen.

Now don't tell me that you all act the same IRL as you do when playing online multi-player. (or in the forum at the Escapist)
How do you want to be perceived by others online? How do you attempt to establish your 'online persona'?
Do you have a different personality for different games or genres (MMORPG or FPS etc.)?

Oh and I realise that commenting in this thread is in itself a paradox as you will be revealing the truth about yourself but using your 'online persona' which means that you cannot really trust anything you say (and nor can anyone else)... just try not to cause a disruption in the space-time continuum.
I'm one of those laid back people that responds to "dude you fucking suck" with "it's just a game, try and have fun, and lets not be hostile"
I try and stop people from trash talking to newbies, reminding them they used to be in that person's shoes once.

I'm more quiet online, mostly because I don't like people online.

I'm looking at you people.

Wally. Also you might need to wake him up with a syringe of 50/50 heroine/beer to his largest vein in his neck
