only one console system in the future?

What is everyone's thoughts on the concept of, at some point in the future, The "big 3" decides to collaborate. stop the so called "console war". make one fucking amazing system, and use the collective wallets of each company to fund all future games and peripherals. Is it even likely?

There is no way in reality that only "one" game console would exist. It's also the same reason why everyone can't get along.

It's good to have the competition between different companies. If there was only one company they wouldn't feel the need to improve their consoles because they have no one to beat.

Even if there were a super perfect console, there would be people who hate it for being too mainstream and look for an alternative. How do you think Apple is still around?

It it'd happen, it'd have to be on an open platform (to develop on, at least), similar to a PC.

I'm not comfortable with one company or organization having a complete monopoly on all content that can possibly by seen on a medium. That'd be a step backwards for video games.

That would be horrible.

Competition is what keeps the game market alive.

if they all joined into a super console, where is the motivation to make it better? why would you? there is no reason to make improvements if there is no competition.

There already is one. It's superior to any of the big 3 and always will be, offering better performance and vastly superior functionality.

It's called a PC.
