I really hope this doesn't happen to be honest. Not only would it demolish competition between the companies, thus forcing prices up as they have no need to ever lower them, but we as consumers would get far less choice in what we want in a console. After all the Wii is massively different from the 360 so you can go with the whole horses for courses deal, but what if the "Mega-System" wasn't something you like? What do you do then?

What is everyone's thoughts on the concept of, at some point in the future, The "big 3" decides to collaborate. stop the so called "console war". make one fucking amazing system, and use the collective wallets of each company to fund all future games and peripherals. Is it even likely?
That's called a monopoly. It's very illegal and it will be as long as murder is.

Not even likely. They want money and they want it for themselves, so they'll always try to upstage each other in competition.

Imagine the market as a cake. They all want the whole cake, so they fight over it. They both get varying degrees of cake and at times their slices get bigger or smaller.

I highly doubt they'll take a step back, think about it, and then find a way to divide the cake eaqually amongst each other.

It just doesn't work like that, as much as we'd like it to.
If they all worked together and made the best console possible, then their cake would be bigger.

Impossible. Preferrable, but impossible. Humans are too competative to let one company slide with everything.

The cake is a lie................ Sorry, I really couldn't resist, but on topic, I honestly think that gaming wouldn't be as fun without the whole "Oh my god how come they get that game but we don't" side to it, it makes it more interesting.
