Not going to lie even before the other fuckshit that was happening on OnlyFans came out I knew this was going to hurt the legitimate workers in scorched earth tactics. Bank and cards having that much say is its own dicussion but yeah the prudish background does linger.

I think most of the ones with strong follows will hopefully find other avenues and I think some have. Plus I fund it funny how people are really mad at woman being hot and making money out of it. You can make me feel bad about it the observation "hey dudes are going to oggle me lets make bank on it" I respect the audacity and logic of it all. Like damn its like all avenues for these ladies to do sex work independently without exploitive ass second parties just keep getting cut at the legs. Hell I felt bad when backpage adult section went down cause oh well time to go through pimps again!?!

I been noticing all these attempt to end sex work and protect sex workers has been just putting in a deeper spot, more danger and just causing more problems.

I mean crying about breaking the rules is like crying about getting zapped when you stuck a fork into a light socket. So i dunno what to tell you.
...they weren't breaking the rules. They were fine and the rules changed. How dare they not be clairvoyant, time to point and laugh about people losing their incomes in our capitalist society.

Mastercard issued a statement that they had nothing to do with this decision from Onlyfans. The credit card companies only insisted on better age verification due to the adult content, not that the adult content had to stop. It was in the second video i posted.

Onlyfans is doing this to secure capitol investment. They are trying to get money, which is dumb because it is the adult content that made them big in the first place. So this is probably going to bite them in the ass if i had to guess.

First off they didnt lose their jobs in that regard. Their positions shifted. The smart streamers would adapt, either by going to Youtube or bitwave or dlive or changing their content into something that fits the rules.

The other who cant figure out how to stay in business....oh well. Rules change all the time. Businesses have to adapt, look at covid this year. Everybody had to adapt their business model or die.

Shit happens and you have to figure out how to keep going through it. Thats life.

More strictly, Mastercard issued a self-serving statement that may or may not accurately represent its involvement in this affair.

One might consider, for instance, that the CC companies could have asked for conditions that OnlyFans was not able to reasonably meet. Thus even were that statement technically accurate, it may also conceal Mastercard knowing perfectly well that it would effectively compel OnlyFans to abandon adult content.

And according the models Onlyfans would take like 30% cut and take what some of them were making they might as well just burn the money.

I don't know why though? Unless Onlyfans absolutely cannot afford verification tools. That's the only thing I can think of is that the site isn't bringing in enough money for whatever overhaul a verification process would require. Or that it would require too much downtime. I have no idea, but ultimately demanding that it be difficult for minors to purchase the pornographic content isn't that big of an ask, especially since people are selling irl sex services on the platform.

Actually it's only 20%. And a lot of the models were upset that it was even that much. Because they don't understand how running a platform works and how expensive servers and server techs are.

Youtube takes 30-45% depending on the content creator. Twitch takes 30-50% of subs, and they add fees to the viewer for buying bits and such. Paypal takes a cut of every transaction. Every service online for making money takes a piece of everyone's earnings.

It these people are pissing about 20% from Onlyfans wait until they pay real taxes.

Let's use a somewhat extreme imaginary example. Say Mastercard told OnlyFans "Blah blah terms of service we want verification blah, and so much as one minor accesses pornographic material then we may cut off our service to you." Thus whilst OnlyFans could superficially meet the verification demand, there's still a clause in there so strict and harsh that OnlyFans cannot risk it.

Thus Mastercard may indeed accurately call this a demand for a verification system, but it can very much still involve conditions OnlyFans cannot accept.

Maybe. Still I don't know how reasonable a request that is, or how enforceable it can be. I'm sure kids buy pornhub subs using mom's card all the time, and it's not like they'd demand the Hub to stop being porn.

I guess it doesn't really matter, they are making this move and it will likely result in the site shutting down in the next year or so. Oh well.

Porn hub is funded via crypto

Only the stupid ones, because credit cards have itemised bills their owners receive. Fuck half the people I work with get pings on their phone from their banking app if a purchase outside their norm is made.

Huh. I guess someone that is not an idiot finally got hold of the controls to prevent them from comitting financial suicide? Might be too late and this might just be a smokescreen, but an interesting development nonetheless.

Part of me thinks this was contract negotiations via public outrage and free Youtube videos. Like when Marvel wanted more money to have Spiderman, and Sony wouldn't budge, so they "leaked" that Spiderman was out of the MCU and let fan outrage bombard Sony for a few weeks until they finally caved.
I wonder if OnlyFans pulled something similar, we just dont know who they were playing rough with. Maybe a bank or some investor who said they would get in, but only if they ban porn and OF said sure, lets see what that looks like.

Wow it's almost like the excuses where bullshit and it was a move strictly to secure capitol investment. Then when they failed to do that and saw all the content creator's bail on the platform.....they realized this was a stupid move.

Called it.

Mm. Looking like most people aren't buying it and are planning to move elsewhere anyway. One major sticking point is the use of the word "suspended" rather than something like "cancelled".
I mean even if they did say cancelled, if I was a content creator I'd still be looking. It shows how volatile a market OF is and how sold they are on the adult content their creators make, ie not at all. Only a matter of time before they reverse the reverse, or put the kibosh only something else like no Cosplaying as IP characters, or no guys named Big Jim.

Indeed. I just think the wording was a particular blunder in that tweet because it's an easy thing to latch onto.

You could read those excuses from a mile away. Using the shit content that went under your own radar so instead of pulling the weeds you throw pesticide on the whole garden hurting your legitmate content creators came back to bite you in the ass. At least Onlyfans did not become Tumblr but lets wait around cause this lapse in judgement will pop up again in some way I gurantee it.
