It's a good portrait, I'll freely admit that, but this hardly counts as a spoiler, since a shot of DJ-Chewbaca with Vader and Yoda go-go dancers would have the same general impact on game content.

I am sort of surprised, because at least to me, it does nto seem likely that they would release a game with only 4 months advance notice to allow for preorders, Retailer advertising campaigns, proper press hype period with advance reviews in major magazines, etc. Typically you always see at least 6 months to a year advance notice if not more. If it really is a november release were looking at 4 months. That just really does not seem very sound practice to go against a wealth of precedent.
Well for comparison, it looks like World of Warcraft had its release date announced on Nov. 4, 2004 (source). The date was for that same month, on Nov. 23. So less than a month for the biggest MMO to date. It's important to note that marketing for TOR has been ongoing for years, essentially. They don't really need 6 months to advertise or anything. A month or two is probably plenty, especially if there's an NDA lift for the closed beta; there will be no end to the free publicity from people's playthrough vids and other info dumps.

The significance is in the pre-order info and the fact that this indicates an impending release date announcement. There was also a leaked image of the Collector's Edition which has a bit more info attached to it. It's worth noting that BioWare is usually quick to squash threads about leaks on the main site, yet this info is allowed to stay posted.

I have nothing to say. George can you handle this for me?

Thanks, George, you're a sweet heart.

I'm getting the HELL out of this.
Everything is said better with George Takei.

OT: Looks a lot like the cover for the KotOR series. Me gusta.

Apparently, according to G4, the collector's edition costs 150 Euros, which would be about $220 USD...

Wow... sounds totally worth it...

Also, G4 said that there will be a head start period for those who pre-order SW:TOR. Standard pre-orders will get a three day head start, while those who pre-order the Collector's Edition will get a six day head start.

more reason to think it's fake: a colour stone for pre-orders? seeing how big they are on crafting (and how their office would get burned down if they didn't let us build our own lightsabres), it seems like everyone will be able to alter their weapons anyway, so why bother putting in an item like that for pre-orders at all?

Whoopsie! Ah well, I doubt I'll be bothered with that stuff anyway.

Also, I hate to be 'that guy'... But the correct term is 'champing at the bit'.

i dont know how much i believe this, could be a publicity stunt because nothing draws attention to a new release liked the term "leaked." even if it is true, its not like anything that major was revealed. i dont care about the box or reserve bonuses, all i care about is a release date.

that being said though, the box does look pretty fuckin sweet

As excited for game as I am, this is another bit of the non-news that's come out for this game over the past...well, very long time.

Exciting to know SW:TOR is getting closer and closer to release. Very badass, just like a movie poster or Knights of the Old Republic game, but something bothers me about it...

can't quite put my finger on...

Oh wait, there it is: it's orange and blue... *sigh* Box artists realize there are more than 2 colors, right? In the words of someone way more famous than me: "Whoa, leave some innovation for the rest of us, DaVinci!" heh.

Exactly. If I could find it, I'd get the clip of Nelson the Fox from Mongrels when he physically beats that phrase into a radio presenters head.

Ooh, and Mongrels is on right now. I think I'll go watch it!

From the title, I thought they leaked the release date. This is a pretty minor leak as it is. I'm still hoping to get my hands on this game, soon. Maybe an announcement will be made at Comic-Con? I've been half expecting/hoping/praying for it at the other shows, so, if not, I can wait a little longer. It would be nice, though.

In the case of lightsabers, colored stones have stats attached to them. So you can have the color you want or the stats you want, but not always both. I think the same goes for blasters. This could be a way to avoid that concern or to be able to choose colors before you find the proper crystal in game.

I'm curious, why does the 'screen shot' from a polish website (which if you go to it yes, all the stuff is in a foreign language) has everything for this supposed leak in english? I mean ok, Star Wars in english I can understand. But Pre-Order now and get... why would all that be in english when everything else on their site is in polish? Seems like a fake to me, but that's just my opinion.

Well, it didn't work that way in Kotor. Color and Effect were independent of one another, with the exception of two color crystals you can get, one for orange, the other silver. There isn't much reason to expect these crystals to effect stats in any way considering this, although it is day 1 DLC, so it isn't out of the question.

Erm, just out of interest... why would you include Pre-Order adverts on the bloody box the game comes in? I know EA are really trying to get the whole Day 1 DLC thing to take off, but surely including promotions for pre-ordering the game before it comes out is counter-intuitive once the game comes out! That's like buying a movie ticket to see the new Harry Potter flick, and having an advert on said ticket saying "pre-book your ticket before July 15th and nab a free tub of popcorn."

I dunno. Maybe I'm overthinking things...
Or underthinking them--that "box art" says "preorder, game not inside". So it's a shelf placeholder box, not a box for the actual game.

I really wonder what the price point for this is going to look like. They ought to give you an extra month free for preordering, not some dopey item.

It's real. Any fakes in the past have been squashed immediately on the main forums, but threads about this are still going strong. Plus community leads have been making sly jokes and refrences to it on their twitters. As for the language difference, it's a leak; they probably don't have access to any Polish version yet, assuming there will even be one.

This being an MMO, I would not be surprised if there are stats attached to EVERYTHING. And it's not necessarily a lightsaber crystal--it may go in any kind of weapon. I suspect it lets you pick between effect types that, say, do more damage to droids, or do more damage to people without shields, or improve your deflection abilities, etc. If they've done it well, it also decreases your effectiveness in another area.
