Shelf explanatory really, state your opinion and back it up.
(please no racism, sexism, or homophobia)

Myself I think that Halo is not that bad a game. It has slick and easy to use gameplay, and the mythos is deep and rich. Yes the games tell that story poorly but other games tell their story just as badly if not worse. I think the real problem people have with it is bad online experiences, I can certainly relate with that.

EDIT: to clarify I don't think halo is Unpopular. For my opinion I was inspired by the Jimquisition's take on latest episode where he, correctly, states that on the internet Popular = Shit

I think that Square Enix and SEGA are still pretty good developers. Especially so for Square, cuz I loves me some Final Fantasy.

Also, I don't want details about the G-man being thrown out to the public in HL2: Episode 3. Keep him a mystery.

I think the reason people hate on Square is because they are the biggest JRPG developer with an audience in the west, and like many things JRPG's are an acquired taste.

The split controller of the Wii should be the norm. It's so comfortable...

But...just not so expensive.

Personally, my hatred of Square is a result of what they turned the Final Fantasy franchise into. I found it impossible to enjoy X, and all of the games since then, feeling less like I was playing a game of an epic adventure accompanied by a team of heroes and more like I was watching a mediocre CGI movie about a bunch of angsty teens. I'd forgive them if they put out a 3D remake of V on 3DS, but they'd have to go back to making game-games for me to like them again.

As for my unpopular opinions, I make no secret of this, Midna from Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess can go die in a fire, and the early days of the Power Rangers franchise can join her.

Graveyards are a waste of space. Corpses should be donated to science, ground up and used as fertilizer or animal feed, or otherwise disposed of in the cleanest and cheapest way possible. It has ceased to be a person, its just rotting meat, why does it need its own piece of land for year and years to come?

Surprisingly, most people don't agree with me. Odd, eh?

I don't think that FFVII is one of the greatest games of all time.

Bring on the fanboys.

OMFGWTFBBQ WHAT IS THIS MADNESS!?

But in all seriousness, I find IX and V to be my favorite in the series. VII is somewhere in the middle.

Alpha Protocol I found awesome, I think people get confused thinking it is a shooting game with RPG style story choices. No, it a RPG game where you have to level up in certain ways to get through obstacles such as bosses that has RPG style story choices and has the feel of a third person shooting game. Actually, I enjoyed the gameplay, my biggest issue is with the story even though it had good writing and the choices had a substantial effect on the story. I feel there is no thematic or philosophical themes to it. I mean, the writer of Planescape: Torment making a spy game? I was hoping more of a crazy story like the Deus Ex games, rather than just an evil arms manufacture company. I also like having some kind of hub city or town areas which were lacking in the game. The only real gameplay mistake I felt it had is maybe the levels were a bit more linear than they should be and the developers mislead with saying the game allowed you to play the way you wanted it. When like I said you needed to level up certain ways for things like the bosses. But overall a great game to me.

I found Deus Ex Invisible War to be fun and better than most games. Yes it wasn't as good as the first one but even with small areas and long loading times the game was still very fun to play. Good story and still had more choices of how to go about the levels than most games with larger areas.

Nier I found awesome, for it is either a parody of video games or maybe the only game that is so bad that it is good.

I found Half LIfe 2 to be very boring when I rented it on teh regular x box. I felt it was way too linear and stopped playing it when I had to do the stupid vehicle sections.

I found Chrysis 2 boring besides the pretty graphics...

I agree, but I don't think it's an entirely uncommon opinion, which is why I didn't mention it.

I think I may agree with this from the little I know about what you're saying. But I think this topic was mostly supposed to be game related stuff...

I think FPS's should be mostly about online fights. If i wanted a story id play RPG and the hardest fights are always against other players no matter what AI you use.

I like My Little Pony. I know a lot of people do, but out of all the people I know in person, only one actually likes it. And he's 11. Everybody else I know outside of the internet seems to hate with a burning passion.

People who act with an unwarrented supperiority attitude because they don't like something popular are idoits. Doubly so when they present themselves as being the only one to hold that opinion.
See Colinmac93 above. Or any thread named, "I'm the only one who doesn't like half-life"

I don't think Gears of War is a mindless shooter full of "macho space marines".

Single player is the more important component than multiplayer when it comes to games, unless they are primarily meant for online/cooperative play (Left 4 Dead for example). This is a popular opinion on this site, but overall in the world of gaming it is not.

Oh. In that case, I liked Transformers 2.
