What would have to say if your favorite song that is preformed by an orchestra or (instrumental) band.

"The Great Locomotive Chase" and "In the Hall of the Mountain King" those are for me ^_^

Thcaikovsky's 4th Symphony, Rachmaninov's Prelude in C Minor, Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, Alven's Swedish Rhapsody, Holst's Planets - Jupiter, they're all good.

Elgar - Nimrod (absolutely beautiful)

Picking out a favorite orchestral piece? Impossible. I can't narrow it down. Really.

...

The San Diego Symphony Orchestra performed "<url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1JgIg38QBU>To Zanarkand" for the Dear Friends: Music from Final Fantasy concert in 2005.

It was so beautiful, I started crying uncontrollably.

I don't think my eyes ever really dried that evening. After Liberi Fatali and To Zanarkand, everything else was just so wonderful, especially since I'd never listened to any Final Fantasy music, aside from One Winged Angel (which was the reason I went at all). I remember those turned to tears of joy when they performed that song as an unlisted encore...

Same thing for me, but if I had to pick it would be Ride of the Valkyries and The Barber of Ceville.

Oh man I loved that show. Although my two absolute favorites from that were Boming Mission for it's epicness and Not Alone for it's grandness. And the conductor is so badass, you can really tell he loves his job.

I am pretty thankful that that show is on Youtube, since I can't find anything for when the San Diego Pops did it. I'm definitely going to watch that whole thing later, though...after I've slept...and recovered from the Zanarkand song.

I have the actual CD (well downloaded) of that orchestra. I instantly fell in love with it when they recreated the entire opera from FF6, lyrics and everything. My jaw dropped the second I heard it, 12 minutes of nostalgia rushing through you.

Ehh, I'm a sucker. Pachelbel's Canon in D. That and Vivaldi's Winter.

Hey, they're classics for a reason. Though I mostly like Vivaldi's Winter (Movement 1, specifically) because I always imagine myself playing it as I listen, despite the fact that I suck too bad to ever achieve it. TT.TT

Oh man I'd have to say Comedians Gallop. This is just done on mallet instruments here but imagine a whole band doing this. Yeah, that was a fun song to play.
