Difficult question, especially since im more of into choir than actual orchestra.
But if i had to pick it's got to be Bach's Toccata in D minor, mostly because it took me ages to learn how to play my part properly, yet i never grew tired of it.

I like Haydn's 26th Symphony, playing that in orchestra at the moment.

Kudos to the dude who posted the Eminence orchestra doing MGS, that's an awesome video. They also do orchestral Mario [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcKurvm_0oE&feature=related] :D

Orchestra is terrible. There is a reason we made synthesizers.
Are you joking? Synthesizers sound terrible! So do drum machines.
Electronic sounds have no heart, that could be one of the reasons why a lot of modern music sucks.

does Meatloaf's For Crying Out Loud count? cause if it does then that.
If not then most of the Les Mis soundtrack.

And the angels sing, i don't know who it is by, but it has such an amazing feel to it, the rhythm, the time signature, the flow and the spread of the melody throughout the orchestra is beautiful

You, sir, suck. You can feel the atmosphere when it is really played, you can hear emotions through the notes, and that is nothing a computer can do without sounding awful.

Got a few:

Mozart's Reqieum

Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor

Beethoven's 5th and 9th symphonies and most of his work for string quartets

The 1812 Overture (especially when they actually use cannons for the percusion)

Gustav Mahler's Adagietto from his 5th Symphony

Trivun

Picking out a favorite orchestral piece? Impossible. I can't narrow it down. Really.

...

The San Diego Symphony Orchestra performed "<url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1JgIg38QBU>To Zanarkand" for the Dear Friends: Music from Final Fantasy concert in 2005.

It was so beautiful, I started crying uncontrollably.
Oh man I loved that show. Although my two absolute favorites from that were Boming Mission for it's epicness and Not Alone for..for...well just the sheer emotion of it. And the conductor is so badass, you can really tell he loves his job.
I am pretty thankful that that show is on Youtube, since I can't find anything for when the San Diego Pops did it. I'm definitely going to watch that whole thing later, though...after I've slept...and recovered from the Zanarkand song.
Ooh, I don't suppose they did 1000 Words, at any point, did they? The orchestral version? If so, do you know where I can download a video of it? I've been trying to find a video of an actual orchestra playing that song so I can splice it with in-game FMV footage for my next video for Youtube, and I can't find any footage anywhere. I'd be eternally grateful if you could help me out here :)

Anyway, sorry to almost derail the thread. I'd have to pick pretty much any orchestral version of the non-orchestral FF and KH songs, such as 1000 Words, of course. Also, the Halo soundtrack. Sorry if that sounds really cliched, but it is a pretty awesome soundtrack :D

I've got a lot,

Beethoven's 6th symphony

Bach's little fuege in g minor

smetna's The Mouldau

Most Rossini Overtures

The soundetrack from the lord of the rings

Gustav Mahler's 2nd symphony

and many more.

This list gets even longer if I include Opera Music :p

Then link copies of songs people have posted, except without an orchestra and a guy using a synthesizer/computer.

Also, re: synthesizers, without people playing actual instruments, music would be much, much less interesting. Can you imagine going to a concert to listen to a computer play back the songs instead of a live orchestra? Boring.
