These idiots really don't have much of a grasp on how much people hate EA and Origin do they? Even if Origin isn't required for the games operation the fact that Origin is installed on my computer to get the game is enough to prevent the sale.
Don't even need it for that. Bioware said that once you buy it off of origin (you can just go to the website to buy, no need to install anything) you can just download it right from the SWTOR website, everything else is handled through there as well.
If its not on Steam without always online DRM they loose a sale. Its that simple. Until they do that not even my children will be able to buy an EA/Bioware game.

Would that be the part of you who wanted Bioware to make a proper Knights of the Old Republic 3? That's how it is with me.

I'll wait to see if this hits the PS3. Otherwise I don't think the hamsters powering my PC would allow me to play OR.
Funny thing is, I wasn't entirely sure why I wanted it to bomb. But you pretty much hit the nail on the head. Finishing the story they started with an MMO just seems wrong, just as FFXI and XIV are out of place in their story-driven series.

Seems that people are still over looking this:

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.308993-The-Old-Republic-will-NOT-require-Origin

Yes, I know I posted it... But, it's pretty important, so many people are acting like TOR requires Origin.

IT DOES NOT. It is not required to Install, patch OR play the game. I'm not reposting the link again, it's getting tired now, stop overlooking this fact people. Thanks to people linking it as well in this thread.
People are still allowed to not buy the game because they don't want to support EA, right?
I would never question that :)

Just a bit sick of people stating incorrect facts about Origin's intergration with TOR.
LoL, we are in agreement then. I hate when people carbon copy complaints about something. I honestly can't believe the sheer number of people who didn't read the article and are complaining. I don't care for EA's business practices, so I don't care much for supporting them. But to complain about something that outright contradicts what is stated in the article... it's pure lunacy. :)

You do realize that SWTOR is an MMO right? There's no DRM for this because of the nature of the game.
I'm refering to any of them, the new mmo, or the old games. And with the new MMO, I'd be shocked if the launcher isn't connected to Origin in some way. Either way I can't trust them to look out for my interests. Atleast Steam will look out for its interests which are alot closer to mine than EA's.

It isn't it's been confirmed by the devs MULTIPLE times that Origin is only the online retailer for SWTOR, you don't need it to download, patch or play the game. It's not connected in any way, shape, or form.
And I wouldn't be entirely suprised if multiple people lied multiple times too. They are with EA, and that means no sale. It may not be connected now, but there's not much stopping them from changing that. There's nothing you or they can say that will wipe away the past decade of bullshit flowing out of EA.

I am going to laugh when in a year or 2 this game is gone and World of Warcraft is still going cause it's going to go the way of most MMO's outside of a couple like Eve and Guildwars but hey let EA get humbled
