There are people who spell it Ork??? I had no idea.
Only when referring to the species of space-faring orcs from Warhammer 40,000, who have a tendency to switch c's to k's when they speak.

Ork for Shadowrun or Warhammer 40k, Orc for the medieval/fantasy variants. Orck for everything else (either the C or the K is silent, and I'm not sure which).

It depends on what kind of orc/k. Sci fi space orks are different species than fantasy orcs

C's are the most useless kharakter in our alphabet. They kan easily be replased with "S" and "K" without any khange in how they sound. Thus, I would go with Ork. But it frankly doesn't matter because English throws out all good rules of language anyways.

I don't really buy that they sound different. Well, unless you do the accent (Orks is made fer fightin')

Ork in my native tongue, Orc in everything else. Of course, where does Orque fall?
From now on, Orque

As for before this momentous occasion, I said Ork or Orc as it suited the context

Me being an expert in orc (because orcs are awesome and win at everything) know that your common orc will have him/her reffered to as an orc.

As many mentioned before and aside from the cases where it's a proper noun, it could be very regional based. German as a language for example, isn't very used to pronunciate a 'c' like a k, therefore you'll most likely see a 'k', where in english it would have been a 'c'.

act -> Akt
fact(s) -> Fakt(en)
to conjugate -> konjugieren
camel -> Kamel
costume -> Kostü(ue)m
corona -> Korona (but the c version is also very common here)
cannibal -> Kannibale
continent -> Kontinent
connectivity -> Konnektivitä(ae)t
etc. etc.

Or(k)s in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dark_Eye are written with a 'k' as you surely have noticed.

Also if not already happened, you may wanna skim through http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orc .

Sounds the same so I don't really care. Not trying to be mean or anything I just really don't care lol.
same here, lol. Actually, I kind of hate the fact that the alphabet has two symbols for the same sound.
Well they don't sound the same in every language....
I'd say Ork in my native tongue and ork in general too. Tbh, the only reason is because ork comes more naturally when typing.

Weird, I always thought Orc was the english notation, while Ork was German.

So, for me: Ork

Orks iz best, but did ya know that only Warhammer 40,000 Orks iz called Orks. In Warhammer Fantasy, it's spelled Orcs, even though the two versions are basically the same species just with different levels of technology. I still prefer the word: Ork, because "c" is a pretty useless letter, most languages don't even have it.
