There is no difference.

Once a dark-skinned violent go-between of man and troll, always one.

Orks are animal/fungus hybrids that multiply when they fight. When an ork fights it releases spores that grow into more orks (eventually). Orks can not be defeated. The're all slightly telekinetic. If they think their gun works a certain way, then it does.

I had no idea people spell it "ork" I'll have to go with Tolkien on this one.

I think this picture adequately summarizes the basic argument behind the only correct answer.

I don't even know what Warhammer or Warhammer 40k is, so I've never heard of orks.

Thus, orc.

I generally assumed it was spelled with a k rather than a c. There was no basis for this, it just seemed more fitting for the word.

... No one reads the thread before they post, do they... I personally prefer ork for most contexts, based on the portrayal of the race. It often fits better.

Apparently it's pretty high. Great minds think alike and all that.

Well I know I'm probably opening the flood gates here but...

Do you say Ork or Orc??

And before you ask there is a difference.

Ork is mostly from 40K. the space faring brutes that live for WAAAAGH, who MADE FER FIGHTN' AND WINNIN'

and Orc is from WoW and Tolkenesk fantasy (LOTR).

So, what do you say?
I spell it Orc, but I think Ork looks better tbh.

Tolkien kimself said that Orc was a type of goblin, and Ork was a type of whale. Obvious misspelling, or did they really call them that back then? It's mentioned in the foreword of some editions of The Hobbit.

Ork, LOTR is overrated.
Well he developed and popularized the term from Old English terminology. If he hadn't written his books we would have never even known what an orc was.

Damn, I gotta stop falling for trolls...

Anyway

OT: It is Orc, the word was created from and Old English word and popularized by Tolkien. It is even "Orc" in Beowulf. Orc is an english word, so even if you spell it/pronounce it differently in your country it is still originally "Orc".
So because my opinion isnt the same as yours im a troll? Idiot.
