Yes! The agricultural revolution, basically, taught humans the ideas of ownership and artificial selection. These two concepts have been very important throughout human history... although I'm not sure if you can call them achievements.darthmocha said:I am amazed that everyone ignored the most basic and important development in mankind's collective history, Agriculture.
Without farming we would have nothing else and still be hunter gatherers'.

Eh, practically every single species on Earth has figured out how that works. Without reproduction, asexual or otherwise, they wouldn't be here in the first place.kuyo said:figuring out how sex works.
It's nice to see someone who actually sticks up for religion on the internet, for some reason you're in short supply it seems. I think I would definently put religion in our Greatest Achievments list because imagine the world before religion. What happens is society is ruled by the man with the biggest weapon, and anyone who disagrees with him can just get a bigger weapon and take over. Because of this no real morals or laws can be established. Then some bright spark either gets a message from god or invents the idea (depending on your point of view) and tells everyone that there is a big guy up there who you have to obey because you can't beat him in a fight. This allows the basis for laws to be created. Think about early civilisations, almost all of their rulers claim to be, in some way, divine. This is because the gods are the one people you can't fuck with. These early religious rulers set the basis for modern civilisation, laws and morals. Now, I'm atheist but that doesn't mean I can't recognise the value of religion.DesiPrinceX09 said:Laws and morals, both religious and political laws. With these we were able to move past being pure savages who did whatever we want without consequence and acted off of base instinct just like any other animal out there. And can't forget science and philosophy which helped us understand the world we live in. These things is helped us prove that we are the dominant creation. I also think religion is a great achievement, Gods message and teachings may be from him, but every religion developed from an interpretation of his will and not his exact words; no one can claim that their religion teaches the true word of God, not even the 3 Monotheistic religions (Christians cant claim this, Jews cant claim this, and myself and my fellow Muslims cant claim this either even though all of us still do). And for any Atheists who want to bad mouth me on this, keep your comments to yourself.
