Bioshock. I only played it for a couple of hours before i got really bored and traded it in. It just didnt live up to my expectations =/
Same here. It just wasn't my kind of game. Or maybe I was just bored with the whole 50's/60's America setting after playing too much Fallout 3.

Metal Gear Solid 2.

I tried to get into the series by playing "The best game in the series" (This was before MGS4). Maybe I was expecting a different type of game (A stealth game like Splinter Cell or Hitman), maybe the controls were too different from anything I was used to. I don't know exactly what was wrong, but I know that if I'm not going to enjoy the best in the series, I probably won't like the rest of it.
Dude, MGS2 is universally regarded as the WORST in the series. Play MGS3: Sustenance (the edition with the over-the-shoulder camera), I considered it the greatest game I've ever played.
Hmmm... Maybe I'll give it another try. Maybe MGS2 was the earliest good game (Cant' remember the review scores I checked at the time) I found, but not the best. I guess I knew there was a lot of story, and most of it complicated/illogical, so I wanted to play through as much as possible, rather than read in the wiki/let the game summarize the story up till now.

Thnx for the advice! :)

I played wow over the years. I'd thought the game was going to be great. I often heard people talk of how other mmorpgs were just simple knock offs of wow. I played it and I was rather disappointment. I've tried it again over and over but it's never gotten any better for me. I've tried ti with friends, family and random strangers I've met on the net but It's never been fun for me.

Like a lot of people, I have to say Bioshock and for the same reasons.

In addition, Demon's Souls. I knew what it was going to be like going in, and I guess I'm just not hardcore enough, but I also think it has a lot of bad design elements. After I get done with work I don't really want to bang my head against the wall replaying the same level 20 or 30 times to try to kill a boss whose patterns i can only learn through trial and error. Hey, I'm cool with just fighting that boss 50 times in a row, but why the whole level?

I'm sure it's very satisfying to complete the game, but I want to actually have fun in the process. I'm also fine with hard games, but I don't see the point in having game mechanics like this in 2011. Why make me keep replaying the whole level? Sure, games like Mario do it, but Mario is different because the levels aren't as long and because you could, in theory, get through most of the levels in a few tries. Mario doesn't have so much trial and error. It's much more about having good reflexes. Demon's Souls has a lot of trial and error. Yes, it's also very much about reflexes, but there's stuff in the game that's going to kill you no matter what the first time you face it...and when it does you have to replay the whole level to try again. In my opinion, that's bad game design. If you have good gear maybe this isn't true--but you'd only get good gear by a horrific amount of trial and error and exploration or by looking up where to find it on the internet. And if you have to use a walkthrough to make a game fun, that means it's a crappy game. That leads me to my next point, and I think this is pretty hard to argue with...

The entire game is completely obtuse about telling you anything. It's harder than it needs to to tell whether one weapon is better than another, what the stat modifiers do, or where to get more weapons and armor. Why make me memorize all these little symbols on the inventory screen? You can't just write "adds + 10 to strength?" There are probably 20 year old games with a better, more intuitive interface. Diablo 1 is like 15 years old and is 100 times better. Same thing goes for world tendency--what person would actually figure this out on their own? There's way too much hiding the ball in Demon's Souls. The game would be nearly impossible to play without using the internet for help.

Oh yeah, not to mention the inability to pause. It's not immersive. It's just stupid.

Luckily I got it from a guy on craigslist for like $7.

Well then I have no quelm with you. And I have every right to tell someone how wrong they are as you have telling me I'm such a jerk.

It's the internet. You can do what you want. Don't like it? Don't respond with stupid posts trying to "Cut me down to size".

If you're interested in WHY I think Deus Ex isn't good, you can read my post above this.
I see your complaints, and they are reasonable. I understand that you're coming at this purely from a design perspective, and the entertainment factor doesn't really mean as much to you. But your opinion on the game itself doesn't really matter to me. I apologize for digging into you the way I did, but I hope you can understand my frustrations with how you decided to go about expressing yourself.

Granted, I see how it can get frustrating for you, when some people just come right out and say things like it's "the game of the century". There are plenty of games that I love, but I don't believe in running around shouting in people's faces that they're the best games ever made. Unfortunately the vast majority of people do.

I concede to your point, though I don't agree with your methods. And I apologize for antagonizing you.

Red Alert 3, it is the SINGLE most disappointing game that I have been unfortunate enough to play! Not to go in to details but simply what they did was to take everything that was good with the Red Alert series and meke it bad and then add some bad acting from great actors(and some bad). It became a parody for me even though it wasent suppose to be.

I was so psyched about the game so it felt like I had been running towards a cliff when it came out: it seemed all fine until it arrived where it plumed strait down towards death!

...Hang on, I'm preparing my flame shield.... Okay, done.

MW2 (Designed for campers. Oh, and the aim assist won't go away)
BlOps (The above, minus the aim assist, plus a horrid aesthetic)
Fallout 3 (poorly designed mechanics, no atmosphere, DUUUUUUUUUUULLLLLLLLLLL)
Mass Effect 2 (Mediocre as hell gameplay)

...Actually... that's it... huh, I thought there was more than that. I'll just keep my flame shield active, just in case.

LA Noire. Massive hype for this game but as i progressed through it it became more of a chore, and I can't really leave a game unfinished so I had to continue. I will agree the facial technology was impressive, but the game as a whole felt like a let down.

Virtually anything on Nintendo other than the original Golden Eye, seriously that whole kid/family friendly thing just annoys me.

MW2 for being the definition of generic shooter plus the blood splatter/jam was so annoying.

God of War 3- The opening fight with Poseidon plus all the background stuff at the start was amazing, as was the other boss fights but everything else (especially the Labryinth) was just a grid, plus Zeus was DULL imo.

Morrowind- Despite LOVING Oblivion and Skyrim, MW just didnt appeal to me and was very unhelpful at the start.

Infamous 2 was good but horribly paced, Cole looked worse and the Beast was may to minimallized. However the ice mercs had the best accent ever.

GTA 4- Endless commuting, dull characters, bad gameplay but great radio stations.

I feel exactly the opposite, personally.

I'm getting super sick of reliance on violence to make "hardcore" games. And not just violence, but "over the top, your mom hates this game" violence. Yes, I'm looking at you Dead Space marketing team. And selling grit and psuedo "maturity" to sell a game.

I mean, how on earth are the Sims and Harvest Moon less games than, say, Duke Nukem?

They're not.

Gears of War 3.
My expectations weren't too high going into it, but DAMN was I disappointed! I beat the story by myself in about four hours, then beat it again with my cousin in about three. The story, to me anyway, was just never that interesting. I found myself skipping all the cut scenes on my second play through, and plain not watching them on the first.
As far as the multiplayer goes, it's probably the strongest point of the game. Horde mode is still fun for a while, and Beast mode is a welcome addition, but it's just the same mode with different player skins basically. All other multiplayer modes are just the same thing we've been playing since Halo.

I know a lot of you may or may not agree, but that's just my two cents :)

I wont rag on you (eventhough I feel like it:p) but basically you dont like any of the biggest and greatest games in their respctive genres, but i will say that Black Ops was not anywere as good as MW2!

The Need for Speed series circa 2007:
That's when they started becoming unplayable with ProStreet.

Fable 2:
Peter Molyneoux. Need I say more?

Mass Effect:
Hated all the characters, dialogue system, controls, etc.

Final Fantasy XII:
That bloody fighting system. Most retarded thing in the world.

Fallout 3:
Oblivion without all the awesome fantasy stuff. Replaced with crappy guns and grey/brown as far as the eye could see. VATS was annoying too.

They're not bad games, but various things in each of them don't suit me--story, characters, art/level design, gameplay features, etc. I'm glad other people had fun with them, but they're not for me. There are also games whose hype put me off even trying them: Gears of War 3, Dragon Age 2, Dead Space 2, etc.

I'd have to go with Final Fantasy VII. I missed out on it back in the day since I was more of a Saturn guy than a PSOne guy. Eventually bought it when I got a PS2 near the end of its lifespan (was busy with my Dreamcast). I used to love JRPGs and I have fond memories of FF VI and Chrono Trigger but I can't seem to get past the part where Cloud is stuck in some kind of farm and I'm forced to hunt for some elusive chocobo thing.

Three times I've started a new record over the years, and I always stop there. That part just pisses the hell out of me and drains all desire to continue playing for some reason. It's not the menu-driven combat or dated graphics that keep me from enjoying the game, it's just this one segment.

But one day I'll get past it. One day...
