i understand your point, and i do acknowledge that not everyone gets addicted, but there ARE some people who do, and for that, you (the general you, not you specifically) can't make such a bold statement.

i do want to add that my comment was in "hot blood," thinking of one acquaintance i have who i despise, who is mentally addicted and doesn't admit it even though he says things that support my argument. my real issue is that i don't like hearing it glorified. i'm sure it helps the people who genuinely need it, and i hope they live as long as they can, but i do not condone recreational enjoyment of marijuana.
Not my words but they speak my point..."Pot is not an addictive drug. For those who claim it is, anything is theoretically addictive, and there are some people who can become addicted to spring water. So to put it in perspective, Pot is less addictive than coffee. I have become addicted to coffee myself and have broken the habit. You get mild headaches for a few days. I have never had any symptoms for withdrawal from Pot." I do agree that it's highly annoying to hear teenagers brag about a (mostly) illegal drug trying to earn brownie points. However, I've met people more addicted to video games than they are from years of pot exposure. There are of course down sides to marijuana. It's still a drug.

Every time I hear these jocks talking about how awesome mw2 is and how they got "an epic killstreak" last night. Then they ask me what I was playing, and I say anything that isn't mw2 they say "wow, that's a gay game."

One of them actually said, word for word, when asked what he was talking about: "modern warfare 2, the best game ever made."

Thank you for the footnotes.
Generally, overhearing anyone back up some ill-thought-out political position (gay rights, abortion, etc) with religion (usually using logic that boils down to "I believe it because they told me to"). Learn to think for yourself, please. >=/ Even if you arrive at the same conclusion, at least do so armed with some actual facts and solid reasoning instead of letting your brainwaves be focused by the nearest hivemind.

I'd go into more, but I'd rather not start OT debates on abortion or something. >_> Suffice to say certain positions on it, and certain failures to think out all the consequences... really piss me off. =/

The normal stuff that would drive people crazy doesn't apply to me. I live in China and I'm not bad at the language, so it riles me up when people assume I don't understand. Imagine the beginning of Rush Hour where Chris Tucker blabs at Jacky Chan, that shit happens here from time to time, except with some role reversal.

People say some really weird shit, a recent example being when a friend and I were buying booze and smokes in a nearby convenience store, it went something like this. "Fucking foreigners, looks at these two, look Russian, don't trust those bastards". This dude was stood right next to me, I turned around and asked him if his mother taught him to be so fucking rude and did he want a kicking from an Brit and an Ozzie. He left quickly with a red face.

On a lighter note, I could only roll my eyes when at the end of watching Missions Impossible 2 in the cinema way back when, some guy stood up and said "that was totally unbelievable", my chuckle at his immense wit stopped when his friend responded in kind and they started in all sincerity discussing how 'impossible' the movie was.

I just wanted to congratulate you an your articulate use of footers. They really helped me understand how you were feeling and why you felt that way. I'm shocked that there isn't an award for this sort of thing. To clarify, I am not mocking you. Bravo.
Oh why thank you!

Shows the NSW education system does teach you something useful.
It can teach you useful things when it wants too...very rarely.

Bravo to you sir for handling the situation rationally.

I am 14 years old, but my friends know better than to skip school, and converse in that manner on a public transport system, but I do know a lot of people like the ones you encountered, the make me rage.

I couldn't think of one that angered me so I give you this instead.

I went to see Inception the other night and when I was leaving I heard a blonde girl say "I didn't understand anything in that movie. I'll have to watch it 3 more time to understand anything in it." I thought that it was funny how stereotypes are sometimes true.

So I may be intolerant, but yesterday I was sitting on the train, traveling home from uni when a bunch of 14-15 year olds got on (4 females and 1 male). This was at about 1:20pm, so they were wagging school. Oh great, I thought.

Having noisily sat down, they proceeded to very loudly discuss the following:
1. How much they are looking forwards to getting stoned.
2. What a shame it is that none of them brought cigarettes.
3. How they didn't understand why x is fuck buddies with y.
4. How immensely cool they are for wagging school and how they don't care about the potential consequences.
Where do you live? I think I might know them. That or juvenile retardation is dangerously common.

So I have a group of ex-friends a lot like that (except for the sex). The smoke god-knows-what and honestly don't give a shit how other people feel. But some of the shit they come out with just makes my blood boil.

For instance: one of my friends is a very devout Christian. I'm agnostic, but I still admire his dedication to his religion. So some of these twats are sat near him in lesson, and they're talking about people they hate (classy subject of discussion, I know) and one says "I hate all Christians." Then loudly shouts at my friend, "DEATH TO ALL CHRISTIANS!"

What a fucking tool...

I come from sunderland and travel on the Tyne and Wear metro often so this scenario happens almost hourly to me. I just put my ipod on because they are usually chavs so I blast some AC/DC or something. It really pisses them off.

If I were you I'd have said something along the lines of "how about you kids shut the fuck up and go back to school. Unless your cool with growing up to be a failure and dieing in some ditch after sucking a guy for cocaine."
Knowing the sound of your voice just made that really, really funny! Haha xD

During my teacher training I was following a group of other trainees up the stairs to the lecture rooms. This was in mid November just after Rememberance Day and I heard them discussing all the services etc that had taken place over the weekend and one of them said

"It will all be over soon, once all the vetrans have died we won't need to have all these services"

This was from someone I considered well educated and well informed and someone who will be teaching primary age children and imparting her views to them. I was shocked and furious, I really had to bite my tongue as I couldn't afford to say something I would later regret...

Most things anger me lol.

mainly: neds(chavs whatever), racism, someone pulling the race card to try end an argument etc, religion (not meaning offence, i just don't like the way its set up and seeming to be so controling. If you are religious, go you!), homophobes, twilight fans, MW2 die hards, assholes who think they are better than me, ppl who say im exagerating or try to tell me what i feel, abuse. I hear all of them, in conversation. It pisses me off unimaginably.

I'm a rather angry person lol

I think they got on the train somewhere around Chatswood. I didn't actually work out what school they were from.

I wouldn't be surprised if you are more correct in your widespread juvenile retardation theory.

MW2 talk is always funny, but I weep for the future of gaming culture if things continue in that direction. I have to admit, whenever I see a couple of kids saying how good a vodka Smirnoff is, it ticks me off, because I have seen it more than once. I think its more the fact that people who can't tell the difference between paint thinner and real vodka are probably the same people that are driving our beloved videogame industry on what I see as its current possible direction. I could just be a snob though, I'm the guy that hates most if not all rap and pop music, and when someone asks me my favourite band, I immediately say Porcupine Tree, then berate them for asking me who they are. Of course everyone knows Porcupine Tree are very self-indulgent with their music and I suppose that's one of the reasons I like them not just for their music, but as a band.

I once overheard (on the train) two teenagers (on the way home from school) how they were grounded for a week and wanted to stab they're parents (they sounded serious) for finding they're stash of hash.

ONLY A WEEK. let me repeat that. ONLY A WEEK. THESE KIDS WERE COMPLAINING THAT THEY GOT GROUNDED FOR ONLY ONE SINGLE WEEK AND WANTED TO STAB THEY'RE PARENTS.
If that had been me my parents they would probably have stabbed me.

Sorry for all the brackets I don't know how to make footnotes.

Hmm.
Immigration caps are "not racist because it's good" when the population has clearly exceeded resources available. AKA. Benifits from the tax payer can no longer sustain the number of sponges.
I said it. Do you hate me for thinking that?
Eh? Ok, here's some context for you:

The guy was mentioning an asian stereotype, "You're good at math because you're asian." and he said that that statement wasn't racist because it was a good thing.

It's like when some black people will say "I'm not racist; I'm black!"
Well, that statement isn't racist. It's more stereotypical. He is right then actually. Racist is only when you think negatively of a certain group of people. Like if you hate all Asian people, then you're a racist. If you think all Asians are smart, then you're ignorant and base your opinion on a weak stereotype.
