The pistol from the original Halo. You could place a bullet neatly between someone's eyes......from the other side of the galaxy.

I would have to say the Experimental MIRV from Fallout 3. But hey at least the player is on the firing end, so it's the good kind of OP.

As far as MP goes, I don't play online very much. I normally find it boring. If I had to say anything was OP I'd say the dead ringer in TF2, if only because you think you got a kill and can't find the still alive spy.
I tend to think the power of the MIRV is quite neatly countered by the fact that there are, in fact, a limited number of mini-nukes in the game. I don't think it appears in any leveled list and thus the only ones you can get are the ones in the game world.

The MP40 with Extended Mags in WaW was easily the best gun by a mile and you could hold down the fire button for 8 seconds before you ran out of ammo.

The Riot Shotgun in Dead Rising was hilariously overpowered considering zombies 100 yards away would sometimes die after you aimed at zombies 10 feet in front of you

Novasurge from Fallout 3: M.Z. It can 1-shot Deathclaws with a sneak attack critical(better criticals perk required), and tear apart anything else short of the 3 boss-tier enemies from Broken Steel.

Any weapon in Bayonetta with the Climax bracelet equipped (pillow talk in particular).

Laser sword from DR1, 300 uses without need of a book and can kill any boss in 2 hits.

PRL from RE4, inf. ammo and 1 charged shot kills ANY enemy, no exceptions.

The knife in MW2 with the Commando perk (increases knife range to around 3 meters) equipped in MW2.

Pistol from halo 1.

Before they fixed it the model 1887's in MW2 were SO stupid. They still make me mad.
Sorry for the double post.

The only real problem that people had with the 1887's was a) they could be duel wielded (still an issue) and b) that they actually had a realistic range for a shotgun (as in, they have an effective range long enough to actually make them a legitimate threat outside of punching distance).

It is weird that in MW2 it is entirely possible for a shotgun to be outranged by someone using Commando.
I would be inlcined to agree with you if
A) ALL guns had a realistic range on them

B) If the gun wasn't stronger than a Famas at distance.

The problem was that NO other shotguns had that ridiculous range on them (well maybe the Rangers...) For a video game, those shotguns were overpowered.

N00B CANNON!!

OT: I'd probably say the Hammer Bros Suit. It even kills the GHOSTS!

I know it's not technically overpowered, I just can't counter it because I suck, but it doesn't change the fact that it pisses me off!
It being The Axtinguisher [http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Axtinguisher] from Team Fortress 2.
Put this in the hands of a skilled Pyro and, especially with that new feckin' Degreaser, you're just scared to go around any corner even in your own base.

Doesn't help that I have a friend who enjoys using the "Puff and Sting" strategy on me just because it annoys me.
Rarely does it to anyone else, just me. I hate my friends sometimes...
Oh man I love that weapon combo! But there is a way to counter it. Pick Scout, outrun him, blast him with the Scattergun. Go back to step 2, rinse and repeat.

I don't think overpowered weapons are an issue in single player games. If you don't feel like using some overpowered weapon in say Borderlands, then don't. The only issue I have with them is when they are brought into online play. Yes you can make all the arguments you want about how noob tubes are part of the game and make it fun for you, but at the end of the day you are still slaughtering me with no chance to counter attack.

Agreed, 3 shots across Hang 'em High and that's all she wrote. Also the shotgun rapes at close range in Halo 1.

Both of the weapons and the magic my Fable 2 character wields and the character itself.
The weapons are a Master Cleaver and a Master Turret Rifle from Knothole island, with 4 augmentation slots, both heal me on every hit and both give me gold on every kill (as if I don't get enough of that stuff from landlording), I can't really remember what the other augments did, maybe do more damage.
As for the spells and the character, everything is just maxed out...
The gun that you could win in the Redcliffe shooting range was much better. It fired as quickly as you could pull the trigger,no reload time. Auto aim takes care of the rest.
As if I wasn't overpowered enough...
I do think that on my first character I use a different ranged weapon though, the one you get from hunting all the Gargoyles.

swear to god pyros in tf2 are getting so buffed with every patch that comes along its not even funny anymore

ps i am a spy (no lie)
I dunno why you're complaining. You have the miracle watch.

I play arena, which is the skill game mode. Dead Ringer spies are so annoying.
you do know that if you keep spamming the flamethrower you'll burn a spy cloaked by dr right?

the only tactic ive come up so far is running away and then pop out the dr, cause if u go into the middle of the fight whilst holding dr and bump heads with a pyro be ready to respawn.

The Crissaegrim from Castlevania Symphony of the Night. This sword shoots out about three or four little waves in front of you which pretty much annihilate anything. And you can walk while using it which pretty much sucks all the fun out of the game as you can simply walk down the halls leaving a large pile of corpses behind you.

The M1A1 Abrams tank in Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis.

It's the strongest vehicle in the game -- significantly stronger than the T-80, its nearest Soviet equivalent, and they're usually deployed in groups of four. There's very little that can stand in the way of that much firepower.

Basically, the only things that pose a threat to an Abrams tank platoon are minefields and aircraft (such as attack helicopters and jets), and you rarely come across either in the official missions.

Fortunately, since most of the game is spent playing as an American or someone allied with the Americans, you don't have to go up against Abrams tanks very often.
To be fair an AT rocket up the backside or a well timed helo attack makes this the biggest target on the battlefield. That's what made that game so great in multiplayer. but yeah driven by AI you better have some support with you.

I thought the Collector particle cannon in ME 2 was suprisingly overpowered.

Then fast-forward to 01.00 where you will see the weapon in action.

And please notice the soundtrack changing when it fires...

the Ryno series of weapons from ratchet and clank there built to hurt and once u got one its hello easy mode mainly this bad boy the Ryno V from crack in time i agree with u completely
That's what makes them great. Here's a short manual for proper RYNO usage in three easy steps:

Step 1 - Point business end towards enemy
Step 2 - Squeeze the trigger
Step 3 - Think happy thoughts

Akimbo Model 1887's in Modern Warfare 2. And it's supposed to be a "realistic" shooter, i don't seen anyone running round Afghanistan duel wielding shotguns.

I don't know if it counts as a weapon exactly, but the Aura spell in Final Fantasy 8 was stupidly overpowered. With Squall, Zell and Rinoa, and a fuckton of Auras, you could spank anything with next to no effort.

You didn't even have to necessarily hit your target. You could hit like a foot away from them and still tear them in half. Pretty lame.
