Overrated!

I'm seconding tehb0ll0x opinion. I agree that the Beatles has some staying power, but I just don't like them enough to worship them. Elvis too. He's called the "King of Rock and roll" yet I think he's been outdone countless times afterward.

No one should listen to me though, I don't give a rat's ass about music.

You know what is overrated? NES games. Games that were designed to be hard so you could spend more time playing them and less time beating them. I've seen "top bestest system evar" countdown lists, and NES has made it to the top several times. Fuck'em. Those are only for the hard core and not fun unless you like playing the same beginning levels repeatedly.

EDIT: I should note that I grew up in the NES era, and I wanted to marry a girl I knew in kindergarten because she had a NES. I'm not some little 13 year-old "gamer" who thinks that if it isn't 3D, it's not a game.

Games are only ever overrated on someone else's point of view. Some people think all the Halo series are "the fucking shit" while others say "it's an overrated piece of junk."


This goes back and forth with nearly every game, and it's usually a case between people who are anti-mainstream, or fanboys.

I never said that, games that get bad reviews usually suck as well. The majority of games that have come out in the last 3 years have been awful imo. Games that feature realism and graphics as selling points always get 9/10, 9.5/10, or 10/10 becuase in this day in age, game developers don't seem to care about gameplay anymore.

GTA4 got a 10/10 by gameinformer by it's more of a movie than a game. COD4 got a 10/10 but single player was ruined by it's god awful ending and multiplayer didn't have any remotely symmetrical maps(except for that one map that was slightly larger than shipment; if forgot the name). maps need symmtrical or one side will always be better then the other. MGS4 got a 10/10 but the cutscenes are so god damn long and... well you've seen the ZP reviews.

I'm going to ignore my urge to defend CoD4 and focus on your point that reviewers give games good scores for no reason. Why exactly is that?

for gameplay, balanced multiplayer, good servers, a plot that has closure, and creativity; by that I mean how much a game rips off another game. I'm tired of seeing halo, GTA, silent hill2, WoW, and C&C clones

I still refuse to call Halo 3 overrated, I respect the other people's opinions but in all honesty people who think Halo 3 is an average game with nothing worth noting need to take at least a second brief glance before assuming that (or at the very least have a source other than Yahtzee). Here are some of the features to Halo 3 that keep consistantly getting ignored:

1. a short yet well paced action driven campaign
2. Co-op with up to four people
3. Some of the better graphics this generation (sunlight effect, visual effects, water effects and shadow effects.)not to mention vibrant colour.. admittedly graphics don't matter to me but still.
4. Skull hunts that add an exploring factor
5. Campain scoring to add a competative factor to co-op
6. Forge
7. Saved Films
8. Screenshots
9. Solid game variants
10. Lot's of maps available online
11. Customisable game variants to the highest degree
12. One of the most user friendly development teams in existance.
13. Great music
14. Multiplayer armour customisaion and unlocking
15. still the best game to make machinima on.

....I guess I missed the part where that made something overrated.

I wasn't surprised to see this game get mentioned a lot in a thread about over ratedness and I guess it's just a matter of time until someone with a sense of self importantce comes and tells me how all these things are BAD. But for now I'll say that this as a package is very GOOD.

My choice for an overrated game:

Half Life 2

I carry this sentiment. I really have no idea what is considered to be so good about them.

Anyway, as for what game is really overrated, I'm going with Panzer Dragoon Orta. So, so very overrated.
